Congratulations! This really brought back memories for me. I remember being so frustrated with my lawyer for being late especially since I hate being even two seconds late to anything! My AOS interview felt pretty anticlimactic at the time as I felt I prepared so much but yet they asked the bare minimum. It was actually my N-400 interview in Las Vegas where things felt more personal as they paid attention, shared a few laughs, and the whole thing was more lighthearted.That moment of being approved at your stage is unforgettable. Yes! I was AOS from K1 during Trumps 1st admin. He made all K1s interview AOS mandatory, then course covid happened and that’s when they started “waiving” interviews due to social distancing etc etc. I’m a citizen now (thankfully) but I remember preparing so much and getting asked so little during my AOS interview . I’d suspect all interviews will become mandatory with higher scrutiny regardless of K1/Esta/B2 etc. This administration ain’t messing!

Exactly this!! Please file asap. This administration hasn’t even fully began its wrath despite what some think- it’s coming hard!! I wouldn’t delay, mess or do anything to compromise status (I don’t think you are but just pre-warning). Wishing you the best! ☘️

AP for 5 years is extraordinarily odd, could be wrong. It’d be helpful to advise of any red flags you may be aware of? You say the interview was hard, how so? It maybe helpful to share what you know in order to get the best assistance you need.

I would go home and continue the process. Like others said, it’s not ordinarily an issue, however fact you stated you were going back I’d don’t know if I’d risk AOS. Could be nothing but I’m rather play it safe. You do touch on separation and we’ve all been there. Time isn’t forever and trust me you’ll think back in a few years time and think the separation was minuscule. Good luck and do what you feel is best for you.

Exactly! N Ireland is very unique in that sense. Good luck with whatever option your fiancé chooses. Ultimately, it’s the same K1 visa type they’d interview for whatever Embassy choice they go for so truly makes no difference!

No. N Ireland is considered UK so by default the interview would be held in London. Exactly everything Jan22 quoted is fully accurate. London is a wonderful embassy by the way!

I am from N Ireland and done the K1 Visa back in 2017 (now a US Citizen). Your fiancé will be interviewed in London not Belfast.

How would you convince CBP of need to return to work considering you stayed 5 + months in the US without urgent need to return home to work? I don’t expect this to be as smooth sailing as you expect at the border and rightfully so you should be denied and advised to follow the correct Visa process for intent to move here. Sounds like AOS intent to me from outside perspective. Regardless best wishes!

Let’s be real- this sounds fishy. Why would “friend” have a visa if she’s from a visa waiver country? I’m British by birth and we do the ESTA unless disqualified for one reason or another. Also, totally don’t buy this story at all sorry. Does “friend” want marriage for extension of X visa via AOS for GC? Tell “friend” to follow the legal K1/CR-1 process thank you ☺️ -
I think your fiancé needs to have strong ties ready to present especially having visited so recently and sounds like she has very weak motivations to return back to Canada (aside from family) vs. adjusting status. From the offset it does sound like a AOS is on the horizon if your fiancé visits soon but I’d encourage you to follow the correct and legal route. The wait is totally worth it! I came K1 and now a Citizen since January 2023 🥰
