    Hello everyone.

Totally new to the site and the journey. Any suggestions / information is appreciated.

This is in regards to the Manila Embassy (Philippines)

Is the Petitioner allowed to attend the interview with the Beneficiary?

How long does it typically take from visa approval to delivery of passport?

I would like to be with my fiancée for her interview, and then fly to the US with her.

    Thank you!

we just did ours in Jan and it took almost 2 weeks to be mailed to her home.  but if you opt to pick it up in Manila I'd assume you shave a few days off of that.  if you're going into the embassy you'll need to pass a PCR test.

  2. On the UStraveldocs website it says that anyone over 2 needs a negative test to fly to the US.  However my Fiance might have to get it done possibly 2 days out.  During her interview last month she had to get a follow up covid test at the main hospital in Manila and it took TWENTYFOUR hours to just be seen.  I would like her to do it in her home town before she leaves for Manila.  They are driving down and not flying into Manila to leave.  Has anyone had someone come over and deal with this?  She's vaccinated and can get a test in her home town but the time table is what is worrying me.  Would they flag it at the airport if it was 2 days before instead of 1?

Yes.  After the payment is posted, she will get an email with the temporary certificate as a PDF attachment.  The BI officer at the airport will be fine with the printed copy.

fantastic!  I looked at the CFO website.  Is it just watching videos or is there a quiz?

Yes, around Php 500.  Cost varies slightly, depending on the payment method.  The credit card online payment facility charged a small processing fee.

good to know.  and they can email the certification for her to just print out?  at this point we are just waiting for her passport to be returned.

It may also depend on the payment method.  I, and IIRC @top_secret as well, paid online via credit card through the payment link emailed by the CFO counselor.  As soon as the online payment was posted, the temporary e-certificate was generated and emailed to me.  So I got the e-cert within minutes of payment.  Other payment methods may take longer to get to the CFO's system.

Note that it did take the counselor 4 days (including a weekend) to send me the payment link after I emailed a scan of my visa.  That delay could also be factored in to the estimate given to your fiancee.

so CFO is another thing to pay for?  uggghhh.....

  6. if you call the embassy now. their message talks about visa delivery now and mentions an email to follow up.  I managed to get through to them the other day and they said that once it's shipped we will get an email and a text to the number on file at the ustraveldocs website.  It's barely been a few days so just give it a little time.

It hasn't been NSO in a number of years, that is a old copy for sure.    Have your fiancee check her email (and spam folder) to see if she got an email from the embassy requesting a new birth certificate, this would be a 221g.   Did the embassy keep her passort?

As for getting copies of the birth certificate, that is a very good idea even if the embassy doesn't request a new copy.  Your fiancee will need a copy of her birth certificate from time to time for things once she is in the states.   Grab a couple copies while they are  easy to get.

My fiance just had her interview and the embassy took hers and it wasn't a copy.  It was an official one.  You will need at least 2 copies and she should be able to go someplace local to get the copies. Especially if she is planning on going to get a social later on.  Best to get it done before she leaves there.  Mine paid 1k php per copy and it was done in a day.  In America we rarely give them up but there apparently they do?

For 2Go it was tracking by the number circled here.

    imageproxy.php?img=&key=da9b9b78549feebe

We did receive notification by e-mail from the Embassy.  But the e-mail arrived at roughly the same time as the passports and visas were available for pickup.imageproxy.php?img=&key=da9b9b78549feebe

yeah mine does have that number but it was using LBC.  Nothing pops up.  Just gotta hope they email me and it's been sent to the local SM.  She never even got her initial visa packet from the embassy.  Philippine mail is such a joke.

It's not exactly the same since they changed from 2Go to LBC as the courier,  but in October from when my wife and stepdaughters visas showed "issued" on CEAC, it was the second day in the afternoon when it started tracking on 2Go's web site and the morning of the 3rd day it was available for pickup in Pampanga. It would have been the same morning anyplace in Manila as well since it went from acceptance to available for pickup overnight.

So 3 days from "Issued" to available for pickup.

Being one of the first to have a visa issued now that they are apparently using LBC, it might be worthwhile for you to test LBC tracking on https://www.lbcexpress.com/

For 2Go it was tracking by the number in brackets after your e-mail address when logged into cgifederal.secure.force.com   I haven't seen any first hand reports yet of how tracking is working with LBC.

what's bizarre is on the cgifederal page I changed it to the LBC option and shortly after the page loaded and now it keeps thinking that I'm filing another visa.  It won't show me the finalized stuff anymore.  I'm going to try to call the embassy to confirm it was sent using LBC and not to her house.  We have her phone and my email in the contact information.  Will the embassy send out anything when it is mailed?

  10. My fiance loved it at Bayview.  It had an open air pool and the breakfast buffet every morning was stellar.  So much so they were full til Dinner.  She was able to walk to the embassy.  She passed her intervew in less than an hour and half.  They asked basic family questions and didn't even look at the pics enclosed.  Now we are just waiting on the Passport to come back!

  11. Fiance has one scheduled tomorrow and Rapidvisa closed due to a covid case so she got almost zero prep.  We basically have been doing this ourselves at this point.  I got her booked at the Bayview nearby which is REALLY nice btw.  Any tips from people who have done it would be appreciated.

    Thanks and wish us luck!

That's fine as long as the testing facility in her town is also DOH-accredited and is aware of the test result information that CDC requires.  From my experience, airline staff seem to be quite strict in checking compliance with the CDC's testing requirements.

    Good to know! thanks!

Your fiancee and her child will need another COVID test prior to travel.  For that time, here's the list of DOH-accredited testing facilities -- https://doh.gov.ph/licensed-covid-19-testing-laboratories

There are 300+ facilities in the list, 100+ of which are in Metro Manila and many are privately-run.  I went to a private hospital myself and I was in and out of the testing facility in 15 minutes.

I kind of assumed that for air travel seeing as how it's been going.  When that time comes I'll just have her get a local one in her town to avoid this mess.

The DOH list is here.  https://doh.gov.ph/licensed-covid-19-testing-laboratories  Since late last year prices were fixed by DU30 Executive Order.  I believe P5000(?) for a private lab or P3800 for a public lab or Phil Red Cross.  There are lots of DOH approved private labs that give fast turn around since its a cash cow for them. The ER fee sounds scammy but then again even the US they bill like a few thousand dollars for a COVID test in an ER vs the same test in a clinic.

I WISH I had seen this sooner.  Honestly they caught us off guard though.  She was all set to go back to SLEC ermita for her second PCR and they turned her away.  So she was in a scramble to figure out where to go.  We basically got screwed by them.

This happened to my daughter back in September. She had a slight cough and they turned her away. Samething come back in a week with a negative Covid. This was even before they implemented the test requirement.

The clinic they told them to go to ended up being a 24hr ordeal.  15hours alone just to get swabbed.  By that point the baby had a fever.  They ended up giving the kid a blood test that came out ok.  I rescheduled her physicals for the day after so they could recover.  It's just ridiculous.  Oh and they charged me for an emergency visit for EACH person on top of the PCR tests.  So all in all it cost almost 500us just for them to get swabbed.  😡

That's just a horrible experience. Sorry for what you're going through.

Government medical facilities are usually awful in the PH. If she needs to take another PCR test in the future, it may be a better idea to go to a private hospital and pay for expedited/home testing. Yes, it will be more expensive, but she won't have to wait in line for hours and hours with a toddler.

The only thing is it has to be a licensed Department of Health Clinic or facility or Slec won't even count it.  It's a racket.
