  1. I cannot reserve a spot for an interview right now because I do not have a case number from NVC yet. If I understand correctly, I need a case number to schedule an interview. I'm also hoping to get an earlier date if someone cancels their appointment. My NOA2 letter does not provide any phone number to call, in fact they ask to send all inquiries to NVCINQUIRY@state.gov, which I did.
  2. When should we expect to get the case number? When the NVC receives our case from USCIS or when the NVC sends out our case to Warsaw? Sorry, I'm a little confused about where our case is located right now and what to do meanwhile. I'm seeing people approved in April going to their interviews in August, so I assume ~4 months from an approval date to interview is a legitimate timeframe to expect.
  3. What is the current processing time for NVC to send the case to Warsaw, based on your personal experience? It has been a month since we received our NOA2 and no news since then. I'm wondering what to do in the meantime and how to plan our trip to Europe. My fiancé will also need to get a Schengen visa, which we cannot start applying for until we get an approximate travel date.
  4. It happened to me when I was trying to fill out the i-134 form. I entered all the information, checked all the necessary boxes and saved the document in PDF. Then, when I printed out the file it was only partially filled and some of the boxes were left unchecked. It looked like it was random, some of the pages were fine and some were not. So the problem only happens when you print the file.
  5. I meant your wife going to Russia and getting a Schengen visa to another EU country. Is there a reason why you are not considering this route? I don't know a single person who went to their interview in Warsaw with a Polish Schengen. Most people go through Italy or Greece, as they freely issue visas to Russians.
  6. I don't know if it's still helpful but you can get an expedited passport renewal in 1-2 days if you can show your urgent plans and explain your situation. I understand your doubts about your job but I'm just listing the possible scenarios that you might wanna work around with. If your wife's son is under 18, he must be living with someone who can apply for Schengen on his behalf? If he can get the Schengen and you can get your passport expedited, you can both meet in Europe and you can assist him to his interview. Another option if your wife still has a Russian passport, she can apply for a Schengen visa in Russia, along with her son. Then, they both travel to Europe for his interview.
  7. Usually you need to have a residence status in a country you are trying to apply for a visa (unless your country has a designated embassy somewhere else). But there were some instances on this forum when people obtained their visas outside their home country. So it is on a case by case basis. Better ask specific embassies if they would accept your application.
  8. However, I would suggest staying within the $10,000 limit, so that you don't have any problems at the Russian customs.
  9. No, they cancelled the previous ban. The new regulation from March 11 permits bringing cash to Russia for personal use. So you only need to declare if you bring more than $10,000. However, Russia-related General License (GL) 18 authorizes certain transactions that are ordinarily incident and necessary to the transfer of U.S. dollar-denominated banknotes for noncommercial, personal remittances from: (i) the United States or a U.S. person, wherever located, to an individual located in the Russian Federation; or (ii) a U.S. person who is an individual located in the Russian Federation. 10. I haven't tried using my credit card yet. But I will let you guys know if there is any update. I would suggest bringing cash, if possible, just because you cannot know which bank will suspend its services next. You can bring up to $10,000. Other than that everything is still the same.
