  1. Screaming crying throwing up - our AOS got approved today! I had pretty much stopped checking, and was getting pretty disheartened because people who had applied after us were being approved. I was at least hoping our EAD would come quickly but we just didn't seem like one of the lucky couples. Just decided to absent mindedly check while on the phone to my parents and nearly gave them a heart attack from my screaming!!! Our timeline was:

    Arrived: Oct 25 2022

    Married: Nov 25 2022

    Package sent: Dec 22, 2022

    NOA1: Dec 28, 2022

RFIE: Jan 21, 2023 - so frustrating. Even though we sent the package in before the new form came in, USCIS wanted the new form anyway

    Biometrics: Jan 25, 2023

    RFIE received: Jan 31, 2023

    AOS approved: May 13, 2023

I arrived on a K1 and so had done my medical in July 2022. However our lawyer recommended to redo the medical and send it with the package so we did, since they said otherwise we could get a deficiency notice.

Can't wait to have a break from USCIS again haha, at least for a little while!

    Thanks!

I think if the beginning three alpha characters of your number are "MSC" that means it went to the National Benefits Center.  I would think you would see a status update of being forwarded to local field office if that's the action that was taken on your case...but I'm not any sort of expert.

Also, update, we got our I-797 notice of approval in the mail on Friday 3/23.  So it legitimately took almost exactly 2 months from our submission to receiving approval letter in the mail.  Unreal turnaround time in a good way for once!

What about if the first three characters are IOE?

  3. UPDATE - never mind its the NBC office HAHAH kill me. Won't let me delete the post welp

Hey guys, does anyone who has received an RFE/RFIE know anything about which office it has to be returned to? I was reading on some other posts that sometimes it gets sent from a different field office and that means it has already been sent from NBC to a field office. Our RFIE has Missouri addresses on it. Does that mean it has been sent to a field office? Ours would be Nashville I would think. Our RFIE has been received by USCIS and status has changed to 'Response received' but it was our lawyer who sent it back.

    Biometrics was 01/25/23

  4. Well I am so cranky, we got an RFIE due to the form being expired even though we sent it very much before the new form came in and made sure the post office time stamped the date we were sending it. Our lawyer sent us the tracking details so we know they definitely sent it in on time. On the USCIS page it says that forms received before the expiry date will be accepted, so our lawyer was like 'its a good thing they didn't reject the form but annoying they still sent the RFIE'. Anyhow, the new form has been sent off.

I had biometrics 2 days ago and was hoping for a quick EAD like a lot of people have had but it looks like that may not happen since my case is basically on hold until they receive the new form. UGH

  5. We filed ours Dec 22 and it was received Dec 28 (exactly 2 years to the date they received our I-129F, thanks so much COVID delays) and our NOA1 was in the mail on 01/07. Biometrics scheduled for 01/25. I had a question, I noticed some people here saying their NOA1 had a priority date at the top, and some don't. Ours has a priority date, 01/04. What does this mean?

Are we all waiting next shipment date that apparently could be tuesday 28th of August? 🙂

our consulate is closed at the moment but Sydney is meant to come out of lockdown on October 11...so there is a HUGE part of me hoping that they may send the next batch of cases in preparation for that. Also, some people on the Aussie K1 facebook page who had expedited but then got stuck at the closed consulate said they recently got their P3 emails. All my fingers and toes are crossed...my eyes too!

thanks so much for your message. I have heard that there is no AP but could you please ask your lawyer to make sure there is no AP at NVC stage cause lawyers sometimes have more information in this regard I am worried about that. and yes I am part of that facebook December group but I only know 1 italian girl whose case is in transit now ( based on that NVC schedule time her case got in transit on September 14 ) .do you mean that you know few italians who already got their case number but their case did not send to Napels embassy ?

I can ask but as @Seraph2042 said there won’t be, NVC literally just holds our case like a warehouse until the consulate requests.

hi my fiance called NVC today and they told him that you need to wait for an email from NVC saying that your case transfer to embassy .we already got our case number i do not know if NVC does another review and administrative processing for cases or not since they did not send my case to the embassy ( my embassy is accepting cases now and there is no backlog)

Yeah we know about the email saying the case is in transit, though we don't expect that email for a while because Sydney is closed and there is now a backlog of around 3 months.

Idk, our lawyer told us to wait for an email with our case number, so we waited. Then I got impatient so we called the NVC and they said there is no email with a case number. But people here are saying that there is an email with case number. Oh well, end of the day we have our case number lol!

I don't think they do any AP at the NVC but I know you are not alone with Italy (I assume Naples?) , there are a few people in a facebook group for December 2020 filers I am a part of who were within the dates of being included in the next NVC shipout and weren't. And around 3-4 of them were from Italy. So unsure of what is happening there but you are not the only one I've heard of about Italy.

I haven’t received any email from NVC. I’m a bit confused as to what we’re supposed to do now, seeing as you all are currently in transit. Me and my fiancé have not submitted our DS-160 on the CEAC. Is that what we’re supposed to do next? We just updated the NVC with our emails once we received our case file number (yesterday).

Ok SO - we had to call the NVC again to get our invoice ID. My fiance asked about an email and the lady was like 'who told you about any email? You need to wait for Sydney to email you and that won't happen until they reopen. NVC will only hold your case. There is no email'

This is all confusing AF information from my lawyer, who I literally am WAITING to fire. She kept telling us we need to get an email from the NVC, thank God we just took matters into our own and called them otherwise we would have just been sat here twiddling our thumbs waiting for an email that was never going to arrive!

So the next steps are (going off the Aussie visa page, NOT my lawyer): keep checking on your NVC status, maybe weekly or fortnightly (depending on if your consulate is open or not. Sydney is not open so I won't bother checking every week). Your status will go from At NVC to In Transit then to Ready. Once it says ready, you can go ahead and fill out DS-160. At this point Montreal will email you about the next step as well.

Hi - received a NOA 1 in early August and VJ emails me periodically about the estimated approval date for the I-129F in late March.  Are the VJ dates fairly accurate historically?  That date keeps changing slightly, so I was curious if we think there's a chance in the fall USCIS speeds up?  How else will they deal with the huge backlog.  Not sure if anyone is close to the amount of employees they have in office right now, etc.

Bonus question - my beneficiary lived in the US to study for a master's degree.  Does she need a police report from the US, or does the embassy do that themselves?  If so, which type of police report - state or federal?

    thanks

We were very recently approved with our NOA2 - we filed in December and were approved August 11. Our approval estimate was August 30th, so it was a touch earlier. However going off the other applicants from December, we were one of the earlier approvals. What determines that part, I don't know. But for the most part, the VJ approval estimate is pretty spot on :)

Just wondering if everyone here signed up for the email with the NVC? I just realized it was listed as step 1 on the document provided on this thread and my fiancé probably had no idea he had to do that. He'll be calling NVC to check up on our case as it will be 30 days since our NOA2 was received.

We didn’t - our lawyer told us an email would come so we just sat and waited then ended up calling them for the number and getting it that way.

one thing I realise my fiancé and I didn’t know to ask for was the invoice ID number. So we went and signed up for the email update thing anyhow in case it will come. Otherwise he will have to call them back and get the invoice ID.

  12. Well we have an update: we called NVC and got our case number today. Very strangely - my fiance called right on 7am and tried the number ending in 0888 or something similar - he got a weird message saying the NVC was closed due to bad weather UNTIL FEBRUARY (?????). He tried recalling the number a few times and got the same message.

Then he tried calling the number ending in 0700 - he got through in 45 minutes and got our NVC number. The lady who helped him said she had no idea what he was talking about RE: the bad weather message. So strange.

So it took exactly a month for us from NOA2 to NVC. Now we sit at the NVC. I'm so confused about the next step. Where am I meant to create an account etc? I tried looking at the PDF at the start of this thread but my confusion level has transcended haha.

We called today after almost a month since NOA2 and they said they haven't even received it.

It can take up to 60 days they said.

It is a never ending story 🙂

I don't know how their system works...our NOA2 was August 11 and they said they received it August 25th, but still no update when we called them a second time yesterday. How is it others with the same NOA2 have either not even had their cases received by the NVC yet, and then there's some who have their case number already. I just wanna know how it works!!! LOL

Quick update: not sure this is the right place to put this info. but for those who I have been exchanging messages with most recently, Dylan was granted a B2 visa to visit the US from the Perth Consulate. It was a super quick process and you do have to fill out a separate DS-160 form for it, but it doesn't jeopardize your K1. We are excited to see each other soon and when he's here, we will just wait until we hear from the Sydney consulate about an interview date for the K1 and then he can make arrangements to go back to Oz for it. I hope this message finds you well and let's you know there's some light at the end of one of the tunnels we're all in right now...

Happy to hear you guys will see each other soon! :) fingers crossed Sydney reopens soon, regardless of whether the consulate opens or not (though obviously that’s the goal!) I’m sick of being cooped up!! Fully vaccinated since June and still locked inside my house, ready for this to be over lol

I suppose it depends on the country and their current set of restrictions. Canada had a pattern of closing everything and then opening everything and then closing again when the wave returned. Which ultimately impacted the consulate and when people could go back to work. Covid has certainly not been a friend to us fiancé(e)s during this whatsoever. 😔

Same with Sydney - the minute we go into lockdown, the consulate shut. We were COVID-free for the better part of a year so everyone became complacent. We are now relying on vaccinations here as they have FINALLY conceded that with Delta, we can never get back to 'COVID-zero'. It seems that as soon as there is a lockdown, the consulate shuts. I am judging this based off countries such as Indonesia, South Korea, Malaysia and even some European countries which have sky high cases (compared to Aus) but the consulates have remained open as they have not issued lockdown orders.

Very frustrating. In Sydney, it is clear they are still processing what they deem 'emergency' - work visas and student visas. I can't understand how the threat of COVID seems to disappear if it's an emergency visa...?

Thank you for this! I just know some folks who have posted here have timelines that line up with NOA2 being around August 10th-ish, and fiancé and I received ours the 13th.

Yep you’re 110% right! I think someone on this thread who just got their NVC number had almost the same timeline as me so that’s why we called. Originally we were going to wait another week or so anyway but I saw that post and got excited haha. We will probably call again in another 10 days or so :)

  17. 1 minute ago, Kev & Lexi said:

Nearly on our 3rd week with nothing from the NVC yet. Will get my fiancé to call, as some of you already have!

We called NVC yesterday, our NOA2 was August 11. They said they received our case on August 25 but would not have it processed for another week or so, if that timeline helps :)

he called at around 7.30am EST and was on hold for 90 min
