Tonya,
Did they finally get the Choice of Agent form? Keep us posted.

Hey Tam.....I just called NVC for the 2nd time today.....I call once in the am and once in the pm......and no luck still yet today.....She told me that once they receive it in the mail, it would take 5-10 days to show in their system.....So who knows.....I just keep hopin and prayin......And sending back all the documents I need to send them as soon as I get them......In the next few days, I am going to send Drew a packet of information including pics, emails, phone records, etc.......Just so he will be prepared for the interview when that time comes.....I am hoping to be able to attend the interview with him but I have to deal with one day at a time....My 18yo son was killed two years in an auto accident and I have court proceedings to attend....but not a definite date on them yet......So hopefully, things will all work out and I will be able to attend and make it a little easier on him......
Good Afternoon Tam......Well today the NVC showed they received the I-864 packet.....however still no Choice of Agent.....so I had had enough waiting......I made him an email acct in yahoo and sent them an email with the Choice of Agent listing me as did his papers he sent......I got a notification back from them within an hour stating they received my email and it will be put in order it was received before I would receive an answer......I also asked her about him going ahead and getting his police certificate.....and she said he could go ahead and apply for it.......so things are getting closer.....Smiles.....would love a December interview but plane tickets are just so expensive.....so January is looking alot better.....

Last nite Drew and I were discussing Empress and her situation.......even though he doesn't smoke but is occassionally around 2nd hand smoke.....ganja shouldn't be an issue with him......but he is so scared that they will deny him due to a short romance before marriage......I told him to be positive......he asked me......if something happens and I get denied......are you still going to be my wife.......
......I told him of course, I will always be your wife......

My husband emailed the NVC per James Shortcut for the DS3032. He sent the email 8/24/07, we have not has a response yet. If there is anyone that used this method, how long before you received a response from the NVC ackowledging choice of agent.
Thanks
Sounds like my problem.....Drew mailed DS-3032 from Jamaica on 8/21 via registered mail......NVC still says no receipt of it yet.......However, I sent out the I-864 packet and they have received it and entered it into their system......But says waiting on DS-3032........I talked to NVC and they say that once they receive DS-3032, it could take up to 5 days before it is entered into the system.....

For your kind words and encouragement, thank you.
My heart goes out to you.......I am very thankful that my husband doesn't smoke but has several friends who does......I asked him what does he do when he is around them and they are smoking......He says that he walks away from the area they are smoking......But I only hope and pray that all goes well with our interview since we only knew each other 2 months before we got married.....He is so afraid that they will deny him for some reason and he will not be able to live with his wife & stepson in the US.......But again.......You are in my thoughts and prayers.....Take Care!

We filed I-130 in April.....I just sent in the AOS packet (I-864) via DHL on Sept.5th.......Husband sent out DS-3032 (Choice of Agent) Aug.21st from Jamaica......They still say they haven't received his DS-3032 yet......and I call daily......was told by NVC once they receive something in the mail or overnite.....it takes up to 5 business days to post......So as we patiently wait......I can only hope my baby is home for Christmas......Birthday in November would be GREAT as well.....

I met my husband online on January 14th, 2007.....He had never been married and I just recently out of a 20yr marriage......We decided that we wanted to go ahead and get married because we knew this process was going to take a little while to complete......So I went to Jamaica on March 13th and we were married March 17th.......I have read several threads on here and everyone says to be honest.......Does anyone know if they frown upon this when told of such a short romance before marriage? Thanks!

I am so sorry for your loss. Please accept my condolences; though it's been 2 years I know that it must still be so hard for you. I hope all will be well with the court proceedings.
With this process, 1 day at a time is the best option. I pray that they will get the form soon so that the process can start moving.
Thank you and hugs to ya........But like I said.....we are taking it day by day......

Tonya,
The police certificate was needed upfront by the NVC before my case was completed. I am assuming your fiance is from Jamaica too. The difference is I am filing for a spouse visa(IR1/CR1 visa). From what I have read I don't think you need this police certificate. You should take a look at the regional discussion under Latin America, Mexico & the Caribbean. From here there is a thread title "Yardies at home". About 60-70% of the members on that thread have filed for a K-1 visa. When I first join this site I assume that there were no difference in the process if your fiance/spouse was from the same country. This is not true. There are a lot of difference in what is needed upfront and how the interview is actually scheduled. It changes base on the type of visa being filed for and the country in which the spouse/fiance is from. Understanding this will save you so much time and confusion.
For example...Me or my spouse never received any communication from the Kingston Embassy. The interview letter came from the NVC. There was only on package. Our Interview is Sep 27....24 days away
For the fiance visa from what I have read is scheduled directly by the embassy and you get a pakcage 3 and package. Let me know have any other questions.
Jenice
Hey Jenice.....We are filing for a CR1.....we were married 3/17 in Ochi......thanks

Tonya, are you doing K-1 or IR-1/CR-1? just curious...
Hey....We are filing an IR-1.....I talked to NVC today and they still haven't received Andrew's DS-3032.....So hopefully he can sign on this evening and send them a follow up email....NVC said today that they actually schedule the interview for Kingston.....and next week they will be scheduling appointments for October......I only hope they receive his Choice of Agent form soon so maybe he can make it by the November scheduling.....That would be lovely since is birthday is Nov.16.....smiles....

Is there any one on VJ that interview was actually scheduled by the NVC. This process is only for the IR1/CR1 visa applicants. I would like to understand the process. Once your case was completed at the NVC how soon was the automatic system updated to indicate that an interview had been scheduled? Did it list the date of the interview? Was the interview for the next month or was it a couple of months out. Did the NVC rep ever tell you that an interview date was scheduled or did you have to wait until you got a letter in the mail? Any insight that you can provide is greatly appreciated!
For Jamaica the process of the NVC scheduling interviews was just implemented in June. I know there are other countries where the NVC was already scheduling interviews. Per the NVC interview are schedule the 2nd week each month for the next month. My case was completed Jun 25. I did not get a date in July. The NVC is not very helpful.
And I can not seem to locate anyone who has been through this process
Jenice
Very good topic to start Jenice. I am curious as to this new process, because when I file at in November, I will be going through this new process. It would be enlightening to know the process and what to expect from the new change. I think this should be pinned in the Yardies thread.
Proud a yu girl.

Hey Jenice......I am in the States waiting for my husband to join me.....NVC says that they have received our AOS Fee Bill and the I-864 was generated on 8/28 and being sent out this week.....However, Drew mailed his DS-3032 back to NVC last week, shortly after Hurricane Dean, and they still haven't said they received it yet......I am wondering if I should have him go ahead and prepare to get his police certificate or do we have to wait for some kind of paperwork from NVC...I am thinking that I read somewhere that the police certificate is only valid for so long......Do you know any information on this? Thanks!

Hello Sarah......I met a wonderful Jamaican gentleman online on January 14, 2007......I just came from a 20 yr marriage that was physically, mentally and verbally abusive and had an 18 yo son that was killed in an automobile accident in June 2005. So really, I wasn't looking for another marriage anytime soon......I always said "It would have to be Mr. Right!".......Well I happened to be popping in and out of yahoo chat rooms, scared to really start chatting......When my Mr. Right sent me an instant message.......He asked me to marry him within the next month.......Chatting and seeing each other every day online.....We married on March 17, 2007 in Ocho Rios......After spending nine wonderful days together, he had to return to Cuba to work and I had to return home to the 14yo son I have here.....He is now back in Jamaica due to having a heat stroke at Gitmo......We have been approved for the I-130 and I have recently sent back the AOS fee bill.....Drew sent his DS-3032 Choice of Agent back last week so hopefully we will hear something soon from it.......It scares me about this interview process because I don't really know what they think of online relationships......I hope that they will see that we truly love each other and want to make a life together here in the States with me and my son......Keep in touch!Howdy! Thanks for the invite! I am very glad to know that there are more people who have experienced either a K1 or K3 visa with a Jamaican significant other! I am American and I live in Arizona. My sweetheart lives in Jamaica. We are at the starting point and trying to decide which visa would better suit us in regards to the amount of time it would take to bring him here to the States. Originally we had discussed the K1 visa however speaking lately, he voiced his wish for us to marry in December. I am open to either visa avenue I am just a little overwhelmed with it all! I work 2 jobs and attend university part-time so my days are long and a little hectic. I guess I am here hoping to gain some insight as well as a support group. So thanks again for the invite and I look forward to meeting you all!
question: Who else met their Jamaican significant other online and how long was the initial courtship phase before engagement and/or marriage?
Thanks!
Sarah
