  1. All filers should do their assignment!!! VJ is a good place to share experiences..... you asked questions or share experiences, others do the same, somebody answers and share their own thoughts....whatever they knew about the topic.. but don't just rely on other people's experiences...

Read the guides here but also don't forget to read the guides in USCIS website and try to compare it.

In the end, judgement and decision is yours...

I owe VJ a lot! I'm thankful this site exist!

I'm sorry that you felt that way on VJ!

  2. I think one reason why you need to fill up G-325a (aside from being part of the requirement written in the instruction) is because when you apply for AOS you might want to apply using your married name and of course they where anticipating that you might have additional info or changes in your biography!

    Just a thought! ;) (I filled up G-325a too!)

  3. It will be interesting to see what happens with those of us transferred and the timelines. We only sent what was asked for, but we do have the other documentation if we end up having an interview after all. I am not sure why some get transferred and others don't, I only wish we could figure out the pattern.

I agree with you! I sent the basic requirements too and we got ours transferred also in CSC.... I have no idea of their basis why some application got transferred and some not! ;)

Maybe it is because we are both transferred due to being at Norfolk lol. I don't care, just want the AOS by the end of summer so we can plan our Christmas family vacation to somewhere.

MAYBE!!! But my EAD and AP were still in NBC.....

  5. yay... best wishes on your wedding... :D congrats for ssn

    heheh thnx :)

Welcome in the USA! Congrats on your wedding!

With regards to your SSN, remember most people here adviced those who plan to get their SSN to wait at least 2 weeks after arrival just to make sure that your name is in the system already! It saves you time going to the SSN office! (No harm in trying!) Anyway, you can try it again!

I'm happy for the two of you!

  6. i never have problem with xoom. i recommended them to my friends.

Hi there. Sorry you experienced a problem. I did too - the first time - Also, BPI works best. You can get xoom elsewhere but the service fee for the bank is added on. The problem took several phone calls, but they did work to resolve it, just not at the speed we appreciate here. All was resolved. Xoom is at the mercy of the banks there, and relies on them to be the face to the customer. My fiance worked things from her end, and it worked out fine.

I tried western union, fewer locations, and the fee is higher though it is there in a few minutes which helps eliminate the flux in exchange rate. The time difference hits you then usually. They too can only work so fast when they depend on the outlet despensing the money.

Paypal means your spouse to be needs a debit card, and again, not as many locations, and frankly, fewer people have debit card accounts there. My fiance told me about the remoteness of some places. Xoom sent the money to her bank directly.

Again, sorry you had problems, but with any of these, don't send until they are ready to pick up, or can pick up within a day. As well, watch the markets, and calendar for holidays, weekends etc. Fluxuations in exchange rate can magnify quickly in those cases and magnify the problem in funds.

    Good luck!

  7. I have a few questions as I want to be prepared for my AOS.

    Do I have this right?

we have to file the following:

I-485 $1010.00 -- You're right this is the total including the biometrics fee!

I-485A $1000.00 (not sure on the fee) - I don't think you need this! Just the I-485

    * The filing fee for a Form I-485 is $930.00. An additional biometric fee of $80.00 is required when filing this Form I-485.

I-765 no fee because filed with AOS for k1

I-693 No fee-do we use the same medical that we got for k1

*If you are a K-1 fiancé(e) or K-2 dependent who had amedical examination within the past year as required forthe nonimmigrant fiancé(e) visa, you only need to submit a vaccination supplement, not the entire medical report. You may include the vaccination supplement with your adjustment of status application.

G-325A do we file a new one of these --You must submit a completed Form G-325A weather you will put your name on maiden name or married name

    I-864 no fee - yup!

I-131 $385.00 (This is free if you're filling together with I-485)

The fee for this application is $305 and may not be waived, (see NOTE that follows for when this fee may not apply).

NOTE: If you filed a Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, on or after July 30, 2007, and you paid the I-485 application fee required, then no fee is required to file a request for Advance Parole

    Answers based on :

    * Instructions for I-485, Application to RegisterPermanent Residence or Adjust Status

    * Instructions for Form I-131, Application for Travel Document

You can see instructional forms on USCIS website.

Hope this help! If you need more clarification you can send me PM and I'll try to help you out! So far my AOS just got moved to CSC!

  8. At some point you will file an affidavite of support, first for your K-3 package. That package allows her to be interviewed there, and bring HER version of the package which has an updated affidavit of support. Once she is her, and applies for citezenship, then -you got it - a third one.

I am glad to see others are not detered or have not had occurences of debt affecting them, but you said BANKRUPTCY. Call USCIS and ask. You have at least two years before she gts close to getting here so you have decisons to make and to come up with a plan.

The affidavit is the US citizen showing the government that they can support the new immigrant until they are allowed to work, and then some. My package (all thre) had three years worth of W-2s, 1099s and Tax forms, plus a couple of paycheck stubs. Honestly, I have spoken with folks on here who have been bankrupt, and I remember a forum on here about financial suipport - it IS NOT impossible, but it doesn't make it easier either.

I also have seen statistics on countries immigrants come from, and the poorer the country by US standards, the harder the embassy looks. Not to scare you, but that was a realistic assessment of the process, and she is interviewed by Filipinos at several points before she gets to the US Embassy employee. Your finances are key there becuase they are also looking out for the welfare of their citizen. They unfortunately have cases of girls that are more like indentured servants than wives.

To offset the bankrupcy, keep e-mail logs, IM logs, phone and text bills, letters, cards and packages. So them the love is ral, and make a difference in your current situation - That is the strongest way for you to get through this.

    be well.

  9. Hello and welcome to VJ!

My new wife is from PI, and she checks out the forums, and keeps in touch with folks from there that tracked along when she and I were going through our process. the day of her medical and interview, she had VJ folks she was in contact with.

Look for K-3 filers in your rough timeframe and check in with folks ahead of you as you process your K-3. Pay attention to lessones learned. We share copies of packet/application formats as others shared them with us, so you should too.

Your wife has a big hurtle on her end dealing with the US government for forms, but her government for papers to fill out the US forms!

    Be patient!

Look for K-3 timelines at the service center near you.

Read peoples signatures and stories on thier profiles and learn from their mistakes, and get help!

  10. HI, I´M NEW HERE AND I´M TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THIS NIGHTMARE OF PROCESSING.

SO FAR I´VE LEARNED THAT IT´S BASICALY A WAITING GAME AND THAT MY NEXT STEP IS TO BE APROVED AND... THEN IT GET´S A LITTLE CONFUSING... THEN I KNOW I GO TO CDJ FOR MY APOINTMENT AND GET MEDICAL EXAMS AND STUFF AND THEN... I HAVE NO IDEA. LOL

I´M MISSING STEPS ON THIS PROCESS.

I´LL POST MY QUESTIONS ON THE RIGHT FORUMS LATER ONCE I´M FAMILIAR WITH THIS SITE. :star:

Welcome to VJ! And congrats on your application....

Since you're new here and still confused and don't know what to do... I advice :guides: and :time:

Wish you smooth and speedy journey!!

  11. Congratulations on all NOA's !!!

I got the email from CHRIS and was told that the case has been transferred to California Service Center today!

    CONGRATULATIONS!

You must feel so relieved. :D

Thanks, English Muffin, yes I do feel , good news for Friday :) ... let's see how it is going to continue

Congratulations!! They said its a good thing to be moved in CSC! I hope! My application got transferred also to CSC ;)

  12. Yeah I think i have to wait to get the actual paper Receipts ( the ones from my checks are not showing yet). .

    MY CHECKS WERE CASHED

I couldn't sleep so went to my desk and 1st things first check my bank account. VOILA! Cashed....YEEEEAAAAHH

Oh, is the application receipt number the number after MSC?

All the best to everyone for speedy journeys..

    Great!!!

If you want to check if your case is online, try the MSC number from the stamp on your check, but change the last digit, my cases have the same MSC number but it ends with diffrent digits.

Applications normally got updated online after the biometrics....

  13. Didn't know they going to Philippines for their round the world tour sucks I missed it. But when I read this topic, did a search in youtube and saw the entire episode. Howie Mandel had a good time watching the 26K girls..you rock girls! I love the part were they bring in 3 filipino exotic food..not to mention I was fond of eating fish eyes (not raw though) after my mom fried them. I miss the Philippines and looking forward to visit soon!

You bet! I love all three!!

  14. My husband was the one who told me that deal or no deal philippines will be featured! And so we waited and we were able to watch the full show!! The funny thing i did was... dance for my husband as if one of the 26K girls hehehe and he just laughed at me! Of course I got kissed after my dance! hahaha

My favorite was when Howie went to SM, asked for costumer assisstant hahaha very different here..

And also when he carried a sack of rice and when the employees at the supermarket waved their tilapia saying goodbye to Howie!! It's funny!! hehe

    Miss the PI!

  15. CONGRATS TO ALL who are moving along.

Ali e Jeff, it looks like we are in the same boat for some reason we have had no checks cashed and/or noa's.

Patience is not my virtue, however I am definitely going to have to learn. Lets hope for some movement today.

With regards to all types of applications in USCIS.. i think the game here is how long can you hold your patience for waiting!! ;) But the thing in waiting now, you're not waiting alone... you're already with your loveone!!

    Goodluck to all!!
