I tried endlessly to get an appointment scheduled for over a year and I can attest that it is impossible except for very rare situations. As you can see throughout this entire thread, in the end you are at the mercy of the Embassy. Period.
Hey I was looking at your timeline and noticed you already got your interview... Just wondering how that went? are you already reunited with your family?
Also, how long after the interview do you think it would be for my wife to enter the US (if everything goes well at the interview and medical exams). I'd appreciate your feedback... -

Well, I thought it would never happened. Interview is scheduled towards the end of July, and I'm glad it's for when I'm off for work, so I can be with her and our kid. Last night, after a late night at work, I did a final review of the DS-160, submitted it, paid the fee and scheduled the interview and biometrics. So relieved that it's finally happening.
I'm worried about my fiancé's previous four denials for tourist and student visa applications, which I hope will be a non issue, especially since we have a kid together and despite the long waiting time in the process, we're still together. Hopefully the interview will pretty easy as well. Any advice for the next steps?
I'm having visions of me sitting in a beach chair with a cigar, watching her and our kid playing in the water on Miami Beach, taking them hiking and camping in Glacier National Park near where my dad lives, and other things I've been dying to do.
Hey man I’m happy for you and your family, it has been a tough time for all of us but we’re almost there and big things are coming for all of us who have fight and not gave up!
thanks for sharing your experience, I am looking forward to see your approvals soon.
best wishes

They are just getting to March 2020 DQ's now? What are they doing at that embassy! I'm so tried of the COVID excuse. All embassy employees should have been vaccinated by now. Plus, extra staff have been brought in the process illegals on the Mexican boarder. No paperwork, fees, or wait times required.
At this rate, the backlog will push out to a year or more. Wondering if there is a lawsuit involving this embassy yet. I think it is the only way to get these people to start working.
Hello, They are actually scheduling interviews for CR1 and IR1 cases with DQ of June, July and I have seen cases for August and September as well (physical year 2020) .. Hopefully they are picking up and getting rid of all this backlog. My DQ is feb of 2021. crossing fingers for the next update

Hello, I am a U.S. citizen filling for my father in Colombia.
We received an email today from the NVC that they approved all the documents
How long does it take for the NVC to sent the case to U.S. embassy in Bogota and schedule an interview?
Probably a year and maybe more. :/

Quick question for recent i130 filters.
Which one is the speedy process? I live in India and want to file i130 petition for my spouse this month. Should i file the same online or send offline documents to the Texas office?I did send it online and got the NO2 the same day! my suggestion would be do it online!

Good news, I have check on their website and this was changed to: (https://co.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/)
Resumption of Limited, Routine Immigrant Visa Processing
Beginning March 1, 2021, we have increased the range of immigrant visa services available and resumed limited, routine immigrant visa interviews. Among immigrant visa applications, we will prioritize emergency cases and then Immediate Relative family members of U.S. citizens including intercountry adoptions, fiancé(e)s of U.S. citizens, and certain Special Immigrant Visa applications. As we increase the range of our immigrant services available, we’ll be processing cases in the order that the National Visa Center determined the case to be “documentarily qualified.” When a case becomes documentarily qualified, the National Visa Center sends an email to notify you that it is complete and pending scheduling at the Embassy, so please review your past emails from the National Visa Center to determine what date your case became documentarily qualified. You may also check your CEAC account to find this date.
we will probably get out appointment soon guys!!!

I don't think we definitely know 100% but I'm under the assumption it would be based on the NVC Approval Date/the date the application actually arrives to the Embassy.
I'm also curious if the new interviews are being scheduled via phone or email or something else entirely.
awesome! thanks for the info.
And I think most people are getting notifications through emails. just like NVC would contact you for updates.

I have a question, I hope someone here would know this hopefully.
how does the visa interview scheduling works? like, is it by the priority date or is it by the NVC approval notice date?
thanks, Chris.

These are both true. The previous poster was referring to USA citizen services in the embassy - things such as passport renewals for American citizens in Colombia. You're posting about visa services, so they're different.
Of course, most important is visa services. But the embassy opening full time for American citizen services is a step in the right direction.
I see, thanks for clarifying. 👍

I actually just verified and they are not doing routine services as of yet. it still appear like this:
''The United States Embassy in Bogota remains unable to resume routine immigrant and nonimmigrant visa services at this time. In the light of COVID-19 pandemic, the safety of applicants and Embassy employees is our top priority. There are currently no routine U.S. visa services worldwide, and the easing or ending of the quarantine in Colombia will not mean an immediate resumption in our operations.''
I obtained this directly from their website... Where are you obtaining this information from ?
