  1. Seriously, I don't give a cucumber about my adjudication date...!

    A cucumber!!

   CUCUMBER    In Spanish it is a very common saying (i have heard my family use it often). I dont give a cumbumer! When you translate it to English it sounds hysterical!!! THANKS MIRLA!!! you made me laugh and I hope you are correct... my touch was not due to a call.

I finally got to speak to the mayor's office. They said their wasn't much they could do since they do not deal with immigration. They are fowarding my information to the Senator's office because they can write a letter on my behalf. blah, blah, blah.... Disappointed, but still surprised they got back to me. :o

    Steph1973,

Thanks for the update. Glad to see you are not just sitting down and waiting on the system to help you. You are out there trying to help improve the situation. Everybody needs to because at this rate of approvals it will take more than 6 months for some folks to get their NOA2. We want to do all we can now and not try to help ourselves when it is too late and we see a date beyond 6 months posted on the VSC processing times chart (as is now with the CSC chart)

Good luck all. As US Wendy said in one post, get angry...this will help drive you to take action that may just help you and those after you. For those of you who filed in June and later, if you don't take action and see yourself waiting more than 6 months, don't say I didn't warn you and try to help you negate your plight. The system needs fixed and families need to come before employment VISAs, period. Premium processing needs to be offered to K1/K3 VISA petioners, period. The more that fight for these changes, the better the chances for success. Good luck all and may you get to spend as much time on this earth together with your loved one as possible.

This may be a stupid question, but who has the right to change the law so these visas are prioritized correctly? Who should we be targeting our efforts towards?

From everything I read, USCIS sets their USCIS service level commitments also known as service level goals for each type of application/case. As far as I know, only the I-485 has a specific timeframe based in law as they allow processing of an application for an Employment Authorization Document (EAD) within 90 days of filing as mandated by law [8 CFR 247a.13(d)]. If anybody else knows of any others, speak up please.

Yes, its the "law" set for I-485's that I am interested in understanding. If I want to argue that this law is unfair when compared to the lack of law around the K1/K3, I want to speak to the right people. Congress?

  4. The Washington Post Reporter called today for an interview. She asked a lot of questions about our process, how it affects us and how VisaJourney is a needed support system for us becasue USCIS doesn't give iformation or support. I made her well aware of how inept they are and how the heart of VisaJourney is to provide information and support that USCIS should be doing. Also how the delays in adjudicating out petitions impacts us financially, physically and emotionally. I gave accounts of how we get misinformation and how inept the ENTIRE process is from start to finish. She said she will write the article this week should publish in about a week as well...Im sure we will see it very soon. Cross your fingers...I say...we ALL buy a Washington Post...cut out the article and ALL mail them to our senators, representatives and vermont director...with a small note stating this is just the first of the installment of educating the public how our tax payers dollars are spent. Maybe remind them an election year is coming..its thier chance to make an impact.

Great idea, just keep us informed as to when it goes public!

Check this out guys...seems 2005 saw the SAME backlog for the SAME reasons...and its STILL not fixed???? Who says it will be fixed now???? Or EVER??? Even more reason to be heard..read what this article says about contacting your states representatives....

I played phone tag with my mayors office today, so weird. I will try again on Monday. I am still amazed they made the effort to call me. I will bring up all of our issues and let you know what he says.

  5. Conference will start in 6 to 7 minutes. I am all ears.

Congratulations to all that have received their Aproval from VSC

I haven't heard anything about K! visas before the July surge-you?

This conference call with USCIS is a complete waste of time.

The questions they chose to answer weren't very good questions. I'm disappointed too.

It is all about people who have not recieved their NOA1 yet. :(

I REALLY, REALLY wish that Mirla, Byron and Soch would get their approvals too.

ME TOO... I'VE BEEN PRAYING FOR EVERYONE ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO FILED EARLIER THAN ME... BUT WHY ME??? :crying: OH GOD IM NOT COMPLAINING. I JUST COULDNT BELIEVE UNTIL NOW! THANK YOU FOR THE BIRTHDAY GIFT LORD GOD!!! I WISHED FOR IT ON MY BIRTHDAY GUYS... I PRAYED FOR IT AND I KEPT MY FAITH.

    THANKS FOR THE WISHES!!!

    KEEP THINKING POSITIVE EVERYONE!!! :D

    shai

Is anyone else on this USCIS call???????? AHHHHHHHH-what idiots!

I am, what a waste of time. They are chasing their tail even regarding the receipts. The people on VJ know more than they seem to know. :crying:

How bad did you just want to start yelling at the Mrs. Rogers, Head of Customer Service at USCIS. Now I understand why her staff don't know anything...

  6. I REALLY, REALLY wish that Mirla, Byron and Soch would get their approvals too.

  7. I just got the invite and call in letter from the Ombudsman. You have a unique identifier for the call, and they are not going to take any questions or comments until after the telecon if there is still time. They are only addressing questions that were emailed to them.

I know we are all on the same page, but EVERYONE send me any specific questions you want me to ask on the call.

  8. Just to let you know, I think the interview with the reporter went very well. I think we talked for about 1.5 hours or so.

I covered most all of the points I felt are important and took your suggestions. She is sharp and I'm sure she will do a fine article, it might not have EVERYTHING we want in it, but I think it will give an overall picture of this VJ community and the battles we are facing with USCIS.

If you get a chance to speak with her, give her some stats and concrete examples. She is going to do some 'fact checking' and I believe, as you already suggested, giving her links to important sites where she can research is good. We can all speak to our own experience with USCIS, but, you know, I have never personally called and had them give me conflicting information because I gave up on calling them ages ago, they only ever told me to wait.......but I know some of you have had them tell you one thing one day and another thing the next, so.....this is the type of thing I think she might be looking to hear to substantiate our claims.

I'm going to bed; if I can sleep...................

OK, I need help! I am the first to admit that I am completely cynical regarding the U.S. governement. That said, I still wrote to my senators, congressmen, assemblymen and mayor for help with this ridiculous situtation. I never thought ANYONE would get back to me (I told you I was cynical). I got home from work last night and there was a VOICE MESSAGE from my assemblyman/mayors office to call them back to discuss the email I sent them!!!!!

Can you believe it??? Now, I am thinking, what the hell am I going to say? What can he do for me??? HELP! :help:

  9. "QUOTE(wilson and shai @ Oct 12 2007, 08:23 AM)

Oh sorry i forgot to cuz i was shaking and didn't know what to do!!! is this normal??? "

I had been with my fiance in the UK for a couple of days on our first visit in 4 months when we got ours. we were being video taped by a friend and i opened the email up and im all AHHHHH! We've both got this shocked smile on our faces like 'what????' and i felt the need to turn to him and be like 'you know what this is?' lol it was pretty funny

    WOOHOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. Ok..before we get going on "rumors" not based on fact...the couples joined August 27th, August 29th and September 20th....profiles tell when they joined and when they were last seen on VJ. I"ve seen MANY on here for the whole K1 process that never post a single word..even when approved..they READ. So lets not assume the worst...

Lets just be happy VSC finally approved SOMEONE!!!

So there were 2 approvals today and my adjucation date went from October 16th to the 20th????

  11. Thanks amrssnowangel!!! But being at 155 days is not easy at all....

Are these people May filers? Or what?

So one from May and one from June then?

Cool maybe they are finally moving forward!

Maybe, if one or both are for real and not VSC posers just toying with us. The one May 23rd person didn't join VJs until end of Sep and hasn't posted a single post as far as I can tell. I'll feel a hell of a lot more confident when I see some of our regulars in here from May get approved.

I've seen many people who only post their approval or sign up into the website before they get it.....I don't see why they will be toying with us....

Really? So you trust them and believe none of them read our forum post and have big egos that may feel they need to do something like this?? I have seen Government employees do a lot worse...well, US Wendy's article she posted proved that too. But let me tell you, egos are huge in Government employees. Have you ever dealt with the Department of Labor, Social Security Administration, IRS, or even state Department of Motor Vehicles? I have...

Anyway, good, I hope they are for real, but I stand strongly by my position that I will feel more confident when I see one of us regular May filers/posters here in this forum get approved.

Ick-what kind of person would toy with people's emotions like that??? Oh yeah, the government. Ah, our tax dollars at work! That would be really really awful.

I was thinking today. There must be some law that when dealing with the federal government, for a service you are paying for, that they can not give you false information. That happens EVERYTIME you call them!

  12. Here is the response from my RSVP:

Thank you for your RSVP to our Friday, October 12, teleconference on “USCIS Receipting Delay - How Does This Affect You?” at 2:30 EDT. We have received a very large response to this teleconference and would appreciate your sending us questions you may want answered during the call ahead of time. In addition, if more than one person in your office plans to listen-in, we ask that you please just use one phone line to dial into the call as we have a limited number of phone lines available.

We will provide the guidelines for the call and the call-in number by late in the day Thursday or Friday morning. In the meantime, you may wish to review our previous Annual Reports to Congress and our recommendations to USCIS at www.dhs.gov/cisombudsman.

    Thank you again,

    CIS Ombudsman’s Office

They shouldn't be surprised of the large turnout. Geez...they even deliver this information late....

  13. That class-action suit is starting to look real attractive now...

Anyone who can at least find out about it...maybe we'll actually get somewhere?

HE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO HELP!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

He told me that we would had a better chance if we got married first. All the lawyers I previously spoke to said the opposite!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Excuse me!?!?!?!!? We all should've got married first!!!! Oh my God! I agree with you, many lawyers had told me the opposite too....Fiancee visa was suppose to be faster than spouse!

    What a joke!

Don't listen to him and don't regret about starting this process.....

I know...so silly. I do feel good that I didn't pay a lawyer to help me through this process.

    I did!

Mirla, what does your lawyer say?

  14. I JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE...I COULDNT HOLD IT I HAD TO TRY TO CALL AND SEE IF I COULD FIND ANYTHING OUT.....I GOT THE RUDEST PIECE OF $HIT POSSIBLE.....I TOLD HIM I WAS CONCERNED THAT MY PETITION WASNT LOST AND THAT I WAS TOLD A MONTH AGO THAT IT WAS WITH AN OFFICER ...HIS RESPONSE WAS...WELL YOURS ISNT THE ONLY ONE WITH OFFICERS.....HE SAID IT VERY SARCASTICALLY...I HAVE NOTHING FOR YOU ...THEY HAVE CRATES ....I TOLD HIM THAT I WAS NOT A RETARD AND I KNEW THAT , JUST THAT I WAS WORRIED THAT IT MIGHT BE LOST ...HE SAID WELL SORRY THERE IS NOTHING MORE I COULD DO FOR YOU...HIS NAME WAS OFFICER BROWN....THE WAY HE TALKE WAS JUST SO ABNOXIOUS AND RUDE....IM READY TO EXPLODE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HE GOT MY VEINS RUNNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh Byron, I am so sorry. How ridiculously frustrating. How dare they talk to anyone like that? WE ARE PAYING THEM and the process is already difficult. Just goes to show we are just numbers to them. I won't tell you to hang in there, I won't tell you to be patient, because I know you are trying so hard. They had no right to talk to you that way especially since you are already upset. You don't deserve it. All I can say is that you will be rewarded for this nightmare at some point. Just breathe. ;)

    Hi Steph1973,

If, whoever this person is, meant going with K3 vs. K1, then I dont agree with him at all for a couple of reasons:

    1) I have been tracking K1 vs. K3 NOA2 since I joined this site in May of this year and for the most part I can say that I have seen K1 NOA2 coming thru quicker than K3 NOA2(in some case by more than a month or two) for same timeline filings, regardless of the service center. Ofcourse, this conclusion may not stand correct anymore due to recent backlog and what have you but I am still inclined to say that K1 is still a better/faster option than K3, atleast the way they have been operating at CSC in the last couple of months.

    2) This data mostly pertains to CSC but check this out: CSC gave out like 12 K3 NOA2 in the month of September and so far for the month of Oct, I think CSC has given out like 1 K3 NOA2 and I dont need to tell you how many K1 NOA2s (I think CSC gave out north of some 40 NOA2 for the same timframe, could be even more) they have given out for K1. Not to mention, most/many April K3 filers at CSC are still waiting and I believe most of the April/May K1 filers (and some June filers) at CSC have alredy gotten NOA2. Again, I believe this is the case.

Well, all I am saying is that your choosing of K1 option was/is still a better decision than going with K3. Apologize in advance if I have some of the data points skewed but I know for the most part I am correct.

Anyhow, just like you, I am still waiting and I wish for a faster approval for you, myself and ALL here on VJ. Good Luck.

Thanks so much for your response. I do agree with you and I don't regret taking the route I did. I hope, for everyone's sake, we all start getting our approvals soon. ;)

  18. hi i am new to this forum and am also a june filer. my fiance is coming in to visit for a couple months this weekend and i had a question maybe someone can answer. we are both pretty nervous about him getting past immigration since i have already filed the visa. the reason why he is coming is we just had a baby in august and he has yet to meet her!! does anyone know if mentioning this to the officer can hurt or help getting past? should he just keep his mouth shut about it?

Please don´t lie to them. It could make it worse. Answer what they ask and be honest. Take some proof with you that you have the intention to go back to your country. Good luck

Also, they know that u r on a k1 visa. It's in the computer system and this is known by the immigration officer.

Actually, i'm not sure that they do know that unless you have told them on a previous visit

THey do know it. My fiance came through JFK this summer and the immigration lady knew about his k1 before he even mentioned it. I believe when they cash in ur money, the names get put on the computer.

You are right, they do know, that is why you shouldn't lie. You should be casual and say you are visiting friends and family and leave it at that. If you give them reason to believe that you won't be getting on a plane back they could turn you away. My fiance got stopped-believe me.

steph, are you saying your fiancee got turned back??

No, but he got pulled aside. They asked him a lot of questions and put his info into their computer system. He told them the complete truth though so they let him in the country with a warning. He was traveling on a tourist visa at the time and he said he was coming into the country to visit his fiance and they had a problem with that. If you have applied for a fiance visa and say you are visiting your fiance then that is fine. At the time we hadn't applied yet and they were upset that he was using a tourist visa for the wrong reasons.

  19. What if we flood the phone lines with the rfe trick? if they get a couple of thousand calls in a day from disgruntled K1/K3 petitioners all asking the same thing "what the hell is the holdup" something has to get back to somebody because the calls are all recorded for "quality control purposes" i am about to book a flight to vermont and walk in the front door! I dont care about my case because I am a Sept filer and have a ways to go, but if they dont get all you other guys cleared out then I never move up!

I am ready to go to Vermont as well. We should all go!!! Wouldn't that be a site.

  20. That class-action suit is starting to look real attractive now...

He told me that we would had a better chance if we got married first. All the lawyers I previously spoke to said the opposite!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Wait what?

Does that mean we're SOL?

    SOL?

He said the visa experience goes faster if the couple are already married. That isn't very helpful to me now, true or not. He said to check with the immigration website for processing times (Big help). Basically, he was no help. He said they are backlogged now which we already knew. He said it could change at any point and that I was almost there. yeah, thanks. Oh, and he said the system is broken. Big shocker. I was hoping I would find out something new, but I didn't.

    Sh*t out of luck.

LOL, yup that is it in a nut shell!
