So I’m in a pickle. I got my work permit two weeks ago tomorrow, and I don’t have my SSN. It’s months before I can get an appointment with the local SSA, and I was contacted for a job interview, scheduled for tomorrow. Any suggestions on what I should do?
Did you request a SSN when you submitted your application?
Go for the interview. Interviewing doesn’t mean you will get the job but you can also negotiate your start date after you get the offer.

So I still haven’t gotten my biometrics appointment and I have a question about contacting congresspeople. I’ve seen some people having success in my state contacting a senator. I’m wondering if anyone knows if I need a reason other than the fact that it’s taking so long. If I claim financial loss, I’m nervous that’s bad for my application since my husband is my sole sponsor and we basically said we could survive on his income. Does anyone know anything about this?
As far as I know, the reasons that you can expedite for is extreme financial loss to either you or the company that you’re working for. Don’t know if it will affect your overall application though. I personally wouldn’t do it with this reason unless I absolutely needed to.
but I think you can raise a service request/contact a congressperson/senator once your application is outside processing time without another reason. This is just my understanding based on putting the pieces together of what I’ve heard. Please correct me if I’m wrong. -
Received medical RFE today, still no EAD.

Congrats!
I'm going to attend the bio appointment tmr morning. Any dress code or makeup tips? I really appreciate any suggestion or advice. Thanks in advance.
No, it’s really informal/casual so just wear whatever you feel comfortable in. The interview is the one that you want to dress a little nicer for.

Status for I-485 just changed to “ready to be scheduled for an interview” today (2/18/21). Hope this means I get my combo card soon!

Definitely! Hope everyone else starts getting their biometrics soon too!
Also would like to point out that my case status on the tracker (using receipt number) did not get updated at all. Not sure if it’s supposed to, but nothing has changed since “case was received”. Was surprised to receive biometrics notice!

That's great! Congrats. Glad to hear things are moving for September filers. If you don't mind me asking, what's your local field office?
My biometrics appointment is in NYC, on Dec 9th

That´s awesome! Was it in the mail?
Yes, we have a lawyer and we used their mailing address, so it was sent to them. Not sure when exactly they received it (my guess would be yesterday or today), but they let us know of it today.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I´m freaking outtttt!!! I chatted with USCIS today because it has been a month since we filed and they told me that our case has been received and the receipt notice was mailed on 10/22/2020 (weird cause I never got any texts). Anyway, my I-20 expires in 5 days so this news brings an enormous relief.
After asking me a security question they gave me the receipt number which starts with "MSC". Does somebody know what can I do with that info?
google "USCIS Tracker". you can put that receipt number into the tracker to stay up to date on the progress. congrats!

Yeah I think the delay has to do more with filing the i944 than anything else. @marion2510 , @JasonS1 and myself sent the package with the i944, no checks cashed yet.
I sent it with the i944 and LOTS of evidence. i don't think it's so much to do with whether it was included or not, probably just extremely backed up due to a lot of people trying to get their applications in before the possible fee increase.

credit card finally got charged yesterday 10/20! it's moving along guys.
also, the sense of community here is great!

package sent 9/28, received 9/30 at chicago lockbox but credit card has not been charged. i'm starting to get a little worried cause it seems like for most people here, their credit card gets charged within 2 weeks.

Had interview today (Aug 9th) at around noon! It was so much better than we thought it’d be. And around 4:30pm our status changed to “new card is being produced”!!! Looks like we’re done for now
