  1. Hey everyone, my medical was officially sent on Tuesday and I am (hopefully) thinking that they'll be issuing and shipping my passport soon. I see that I Visa Document Courier Services that there is an option for premium delivery. I had previously chosen a pickup location in Toronto. I am wondering if that extra $$ for a pickup location is worth it and will it mess up delivery if I upgrade right now?

  2. Apologies if this has already been mentioned or if someone has the link to the thread then that would be awesome! But when I get my passport back and I go over the land border with half my stuff and initiate my visa. Am I allowed to go back over the week after to pick up the rest of my stuff or do I have to stay in the USA for a certain number of days?

So we got email saying medical has been sent electronically. Only one week after the examination! Dr Mascahrenhas.

I thought the lab delays were causing up to 3 weeks? It’s a good thing but just curious what happened. Anyone else?

He told me 3-4 weeks as well and it was sent electronically yesterday for me too and it was two weeks

Did you end up putting the pics onto a word doc with descriptions?

I have a ton of photos and trying to figure out how to best organize them to include descriptions when I send it out. I'm doing mine online.

Yes, I put all my photos screenshotted with the iPhone date stamp and a caption for each one in chronological order on a word document and converted into a PDF

We are in the same boat! This happened to me at my 8am interview this morning. Keep me updated. Mine was only late because I only had my medical on Wednesday past.

Same here, I thought they were super nice today though. I had my medical last Tuesday! So yes we are in the same boat. And I only got my medical late bc I tested positive (no symptoms) and couldn't go anywhere :( Hoping we'll get the results soon!

@Summer & John, @__monicabb what about you folks?

221g waiting until my medical comes in because of that backlog at Public Health Canada. But they said that I was definitely going to be approved :) I had nice people

Really? Oh I am an Indian citizen and they give you back your old passports...

You must have a biographical page of the old one? Maybe that is sufficient?

BTW, isn't it the federal govt in charge of passports? How did the govt of Ontario take your old passport?

I do have a photocopy of the old passport that I uploaded. I guess I will just use that one. But confirming I register for my appointment in my new name correct?

And yes you are right, I misspoke and haven't had caffeine yet 😄 I went to Service Canada in person and they just took it back, which is unfortunate.

You are fine. I and many others have been in similar situations.

NVC goes by the name on your valid passport at the time of your DS-260 submission. So your interview letter is by that name.

    1. When you register your interview online, use the info on your new valid passport.

    2. When you go for medicals take both passports and inform the doctor’s office of the change. The doctor’s office knows what to do. In my case they sent my medicals in the name as per my old passport.

    3. When you go for interview, take your old and new passport with you and tell them of the change. Your visa will be issued in your new passport.

    4. Make sure you carry Canadian police clearance in both your old and new name. Countries you have lived in the past, so long as you haven’t been there since you changed your name, those police clearances can be in the old name only.

Thank you so much for your response, I so appreciate it!

So, the problem is that when I got my new one, the government of Ontario took my old one? Like they didn't give it back to me, so I literally just have my old one.

  9. Okay question..

I had a legal name change (last name and middle name only) at the beginning of the year and changed all documents but not my passport. I submitted I-130 with new name, as well as NVC, however it's still saying my old name. I know this is because when I was DQ'd it was with my old passport. In October I got my new passport with my name change and submitted it through NVC. Now that I received my interview, it still says my old name and the new passport just says "submitted" on CEAC. I'm just wondering how this will affect anything because I don't have my old passport anymore.

When you say legally changed your name, are you referring to taking your spouse's last name (e.g. change from Mary Smith to Mary Jones) or did you change your name to something completely new (e.g. Mary Smith to Jane Jones).  If it's the former, you can submit the old passport but will want to bring a new one to the interview; if it's the latter, I do not know what the correct answer would be.

Yes, I legally changed my last name to my spouse's, kept my first name the same. Thank you!

  11. Hi all!

I legally changed my name before we started the immigration process. All my documents EXCEPT my passport has been updated to my new name. Our case is at NVC and I am starting to gather documents for that and I see that we will need my passport. Would it be ok to upload my passport in my old name (it is still valid)? And then apply for a new passport in my new name and upload it when I get it? I basically just don't want to add a 6 week waiting time to our case.

If anyone has been in a similar situation let me know!

  12. I've scanned through all forums about this and can't really find an answer. I'm trying to gather evidence for the I-130 (Additional proof of marriage section) - We are filing online. I'm still trying to figure out what I should and should not include. We only live 3.5 hrs from each other, so we were seeing each other pre-COVID basically every weekend. We drive to each other by car, so we don't have any plane tickets, etc. We have taken multiple trips together so I understand I can also use that. We went to university in the USA together as well, do I include photos of our time there? We do have lots of wedding photos so we can use that too. I just don't want to give them too much since it's 6 years worth of photos.

Additionally, format wise... Since I'm filing online it's a little bit different. But did anyone put pictures in a word document with a caption (Maybe 1 or 2 pics per page) and then convert to PDF and submit? Do I include iPhone time stamps for the pictures or no? I am very lost in this section so any help would be amazing!
