Haha yes it's a complete different form. It's only for the real impatient like me so you can get your case number even before the letter 🤣

Well, I didn't even know it existed or see it mentioned anywhere until just now, or I probably would've filled it in, too - what's another sheet of paper or two to add to the other 200+ I sent them?!

Well, in that case you should hear back soon then, but at least you know that the paper letter should be with you by the end of next week in the worst case scenario. Good luck!

It's sent and should arrive Monday evening. Mine goes to the Elgin Lockbox. Let's see how quick they're. Would be nice to get at least the text or email before Thanksgiving.

My packet ended up fitting in a USPS flat rate envelope. Little bit less than an inch thick I would say. As everyone I'm hoping for a waived interview but since my spouse wasn't there for the AOS interview I kinda expect to get one. Well we'll cross that bridge when we get there I guess.

So, my box was delivered to the lock box on Friday the 4th of November. Payment was taken from the CC exactly 7 days later, and the letter just arrived today, Monday Nov 14th - exactly ten days later! If yours is on the same schedule, you'll get your letter exactly around TG!

It does say this in the instructions for the I-751. Page 5, under Evidence of the Relationship:

"Submit copies of documents indicating that the marriage upon which you were granted conditional status was entered in “good faith” and was not for the purpose of circumventing immigration laws. Submit copies of as many documents as you can to establish this fact, to demonstrate the circumstances of the relationship from the date of the marriage to the present date..."

Oh my goodness, you are quite right - totally missed that. Gold star for you!

Is this evidence from the start of your marriage up until now? Including tax returns filed jointly? Then yes, should be good. Also include scans of State IDs or Driver Licenses to show matching address.

Ignore my post - yes have just done some research and it appears it does. You know what would be really helpful? If USCIS actually said that on their own page re instructions for i-751. Ah well. Back to the printer to kill some more trees just to spend a ton posting it and have someone scan it all in the other end, because not like the internet is a thing that exists... lol

  5. Hi guys, Brit here married to US citizen, living in NYC about to send off my packet hopefully tomorrow.

I was wondering - are affadavits mandatory?

From all my research, seems they are considered weak evidence. Things I will be including: joint lease, joint cc statements, proof I am beneficiary on 401k, joint health insurance, around 7-8 different flight tickets together, and 2 years worth of photographs. Does this seem sufficient?

  6. Thanks for your help, everyone! I have found the correct number, now. And it said it was delivered to my OLD address on Feb 26th - despite changing my address at the beginning of February 😄  Holy poop, and I thought Royal Mail was rubbish for taking 5 days to deliver one of my letters, 3+ weeks for USPS really takes the cake!

Well, I guess we had better get in touch with our old landlady and see if she will let us check the mailbox. What a pain! But at least it's...somewhere‽ lol

The email receipt notification should have a newer IOE number. Use that number to check the card status.

“UPON ENDORSEMENT SERVES AS TEMPORARY I-551 EVIDENCING PERMANENT RESIDENCE FOR 1 YEAR.”

Thanks, I will see if I can find that one!

And - no worries - I figured that out after Wuozupo's post above and then noticed that line myself. The expiry date is why I was confused but that is expiry for entry, I realised!

    Hello,

Go here to check the status of your greencard:  https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do

Enter the receipt number (IOE plus 9 digit number).

My wife also entered on Nov 25.  USCIS mailed the card to us on Dec 30.  We were one of the lucky ones that got ours relatively quickly.  But I payed the fee months in advance, in September.  I do not know if this had any affect.

The bottom of the CR1 visa in your passport should read "upon endorsement, serves as temporary I-551 evidencing permanent residence for 1 year."

Ooh, thanks for this! I did try to use that link but it is only telling me about my (first - I-130) case approval (April 21st 2020) and nothing about the green card, unfortunately :(

I think I will try to call again tomorrow and see what happens.

I'm glad you had a smoother experience with your wife's card!

Your passport would have received an I-551 endorsement at POE good for one year. That’s proof of being a permanent resident. That can get you a driver license, allow you to work, or reentered the US from abroad jus like the plastic card. You have until November to chase down your greencard. Whew!

Oh, thank goodness! I realised the date on the passport visa was probably just for the initial entry to the US (but I wasn't hanging around, lol!)

Thanks for the reassurance, I was worrying that I was going to inadvertently become illegal, glad to know I don'T need to worry about that yet 😬😆

I've been reading some posts on here and it seems completely arbitrary whether people get their physical card within a few weeks or many months later. It is frustrating but at least it sounds like it isn't only me!

  10. Hi all,

I moved to NYC from the UK on a CR-1 visa on November 25th, 2020. I've been waiting patiently for my green card and it hasn't arrived yet. It has been over 100 days already (I believe 90 is the stated maximum) and I noticed the passport version of my visa expires on April 25th so I am starting to get concerned. We moved to a new address last month, and I registered the change with the USCIS, and even checked mail at the old place after for a few weeks but nothing!

I have tried calling, it is just an automated service telling me to register online any query. I tried doing that, and it won't let me login without an "online access code" an a message that says this was on the letter you received for logging a paper file (I'm pretty sure ours was all electronic and I certainly received no letter or access code!) Am I looking in the wrong place?

I paid the fee online 4 days before leaving the UK, and have the receipt to prove it.

Time is running out an I am panicking a bit. I just don't know how to definitely login to check things or speak to a human without being sent in circles by the automated system. Does anyone have any advice on what I should be doing? Does it usually take this long?

    TIA!

Thank you! Looks like we’ll have to wait. It may be a good thing to be honest as I’m waiting for the job market to improve there after Covid.

Haha, not a bad decision - I finally got to NYC a few weeks ago and my job hunt has been completely fruitless so far :(

Hi, I was DQ'd today on 14th Dec 2020. Spouse is a US citizen. Any idea of when I will get the interview letter for the Embassy in London?

Right now, it is taking about 5 months from DQ date until the interview appointment, give or take a couple of weeks. So that would mean an interview in May (probably between the 1st and the 14th?) notified to you around the second week of April (again, notifications have varied between the 7th or the month before to the 13th of the month before. December batch will be even later since today is the 14th and they haven't been released yet). Keep an eye on the UK forum over the next couple of days to see if things are speeding up at all - people will be posting their DQ and interview dates so you can keep checking that each month as your turn gets closer.

Saying that, a lot could happen between now and May - they could clear the backlog, which might enable an April interview with a March notification, or they could reintroduce other visa types that they currently aren't processing, increasing the wait time - it is hard to say.

If you have any good reason for an expedite (health, financial etc) that could speed things up but the London embassy seem sticklers for the rules when it comes to expedites, compared to embassies in some other countries at least.

    Hi all,

I looked for recent topics about this but couldn't find anything regarding entry on a visa. I am just wondering if there is any additional documentation I should bring with me (I obviously have my passport/visa, and my documents from the visa interview). I am planning on entering on my CR-1 visa next week and got an email from my airline basically saying to look up any additional required documentation for entry into the US.

I have had a search online and couldn't find anything from the US government website regarding additional documentation, but thought I would ask if anyone has entered recently, given how untransparent they can be.

I entered on Nov 25th, via JFK. I would say it took less than 5 minutes from getting called up to the main immigration desk to being able to go and collect my luggage. The immigration side room called me right up to the desk, no waiting at all. They didn't require any documents besides my passport, although they did ask for my husband's name and phone number. Super quick and easy!

Thanks ill check with them also once i have a feel for how many boxes i need ( im dreading the thought!!!)

Sorry - it was mybaggage and not myluggage. Well, my suitcase arrived 5 days after I shipped it, and the rest of my boxes yesterday, around a week late, but that was because they got stuck in customs, no idea why (I was tracking them via the shipper's website!). But everything survived the journey and my boxes were also unopened. I ended up paying 561 pounds for 1 big suitcase (26kg) and 6 big boxes (15kg each) with the maximum insurance level. Cheaper than Sendmybag.com were offering, and I think a touch more expensive than Trans Global Express (that OP used) but I compared Trustpilot scores and went with mybaggage as it was slightly higher (4.7 average) than TGE (4.3 average) as I tend to have bad sending luck in general.

If you are already married ( You said Husband) why would you not be added to his plan already. I was able to add my wife to my plan less than an hour after the ceremony with a phone call. They added her conditionally until I could send in the marriage certificate a few days later. But, other than that, Cigna is a huge insurance company, and probably a top rated one also. You may not even need the silver plan. I think they offer a bronze plan that would only cost you 150 dollars. Since you are in good health, you are only looking for like you said " Coverage for big emergencies" Heart attack, appendicitis, things you don't expect to happen. Save a little more money and just get the bronze.

I think this would often be the case, but my husband was made redundant in July, but got to keep his health insurance for a year as part of the severance package. While he found another job right away, it has been contract until now and he gets a permanent contract starting in Jan. So then he can add me! All a bit complicated. And thanks for the heads up - I will research their bronze plan! $150 is much more palatable

CIGNA is a major insurance provider. Not some hole in the wall outfit. 😁

Cigna has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau (BBB), with 426 total complaints on file in the past three years. ... Only in Maryland did the company earn a four rating.

CD- I got a compact disc back with my passport ,  It has my name, DOB , age, and case number on it . I assumed I had to hand it over at customs but no one wanted it. I think it my have my documents on it but maybe they were able to access them all without the CD.

PR- nope, I  asked able if my entry into the USA  would trigger my Social Security number/card being sent out  because that's my more immediate concern.  While she was friendly the CBP agent was a bit none committal and I got the impression she didn't really know ( or perhaps care).

Ahhh.... yes, I wondered if you got an actual CD but I have never heard of this before!

Yeah I am also concerned about SSN, but I heard it gets sent to you within a few weeks of entering if you checked the box on your application form initially. I guess I will ask again about both! I hope both come quickly!

    Update.

I flew from Heathrow to Chicago on United airlines on Friday 20th.

At check-in there are US immigration or CBP agents checking documents. I provided the Visa (printed in my passport), my marriage certificate and a photo copy of my wife's  US passport.  They were happy with that and it didn't take very long.

The airport was quite and the flight was almost empty, maybe 20-30 people on a  787!, the nearest person to me was 4 rows in front.

At customs in Chicago there was no queue. I was told to skip the automated machines and go straight to booth were the Customs and Border Patrol agents sits. I handed over the passport with the visa in. it. He checked a few things on his computer for a couple of mins, then asked me to sit in a waiting room. I had only been sat down for about 2 mins when another agent came out and gave my my passport back and told my I was free to go.  The whole process took less than 10 mins.  No one took the  CD I had been given with my  visa.

I hope you all have a similarly straight forward experience.

Thanks for the update, and I am glad it went smoothly for you!

Excuse my ignorance, but what does CD mean in this context?

Also - were you given any advice or info re getting your PR card? I heard they apply for it for you when you arrive! Thanks
