They definitely did acknowledge receiving it, so just hoping they will look over it quickly! Is this something the embassy reviews or the state department? I would think the security check would be during the I-129F. I had previously interviewed at the US embassy in Dublin for a tourist visa to visit my partner's family in 2019 and that process was smooth. During my K1 interview, the interviewer scribbled out my tourist visa as well..

Thank you again for the quick replies, just hoping that it won't be terribly long.

I was only told once that my case was pending review in Washington, so no idea if it was with the state department. Good luck to you, hope it gets resolved soon. My UK visa was actually expiring the end of 2020, I was lucky enough to get the visa before I had to leave the country.

I did my interview last week (3 August) in Dublin, Ireland. I'm an Indian national though with a PhD from the UK. In prior correspondence of documents to bring to the embassy, they did not mention to bring a CV so I was caught off guard. They emailed us shortly after the interview for a CV to be sent by email which we promptly sent. Similar to you, my USC partner was living with me in Ireland before he returned to the US for a job. The interviewing official told me it could take a week or a month but I am just anxious from hearing about stories of mad processing times.

I also have a degree from graduate school which the interviewee asked a couple of questions of. It could be the trigger of an additional security check. I was also told that it will take two weeks to process once they receive my CV, but who would know it took more than 3 months!  I would make sure they received and acknowledged your CV, but other than that, it may be just a waiting game.

Thank you for the quick reply. Did they email you to send your passport to the embassy or were there any additional documentations they needed? We're going through the same thing too.

Hi, no problem. I went through the long wait, so I know exactly how you feel now. They kept my passport the entire time. There was no additional documents required at the time outside of the personal CV they asked for during the interview. It seemed like that my case was in Washington pending review for a while, and it might got delayed due to the pandemic and the presidential election. It just got resolved as time went on. Where and when did you have the interview?

This sounds like a very unfortunate situation to be in. I'm very sorry to hear this and I sincerely hope you are able to find a resolution.

Thank you for the kind words. Unfortunately 5weeks after my interview, my visa status is still at “ refused”. I have no idea what to do to be honest. Maybe will just ask for them to send my passport back next week, so I can fly to South Korea to stay with my parents while the processing is ongoing.

The status update is probably them going into your file after receiving it. Maybe they forgot to switch from refused to AP which would indicate better that they were doing additional processing now.  I know it’s hard, but constantly checking doesn’t make it go any faster and only continues to disappointment you.  Try to make a pledge in your head that you will only check status once a day like noon. You will get notification from the courier when it’s time, so it’s not like you’re going to miss out if you don’t see it change. Meanwhile give yourself a mental break because I don’t think you’re going to get any specific answers.

So 3 weeks after I emailed my personal CV, the IV team finally acknowledged my personal CV being received and told me that the processing is ongoing last Monday. And the visa status is still at “ refused”. I’m currently off work and I had to move out my flat a month ago, I’m alone in the UK with no family no job and no idea when this will end. I am living between couches staying different friend’s house. So my question is, is it possible for me to leave the UK while the visa processing is ongoing? Obviously my passports are with them, I think I still can apply for a new passport so I can at least go stay with my parents in South Korea?

    Thank you @Wuozopo

Being apart from my husband for almost 3 months now, and being in a foreign country alone without any family Support plus the whole COVID situation just makes it harder. Hopefully the 2 weeks timeline mentioned by the CO during the interview is somewhat true, I’m slowly losing my mind while waiting for the visa :( m

I am looking for a difinitive answer to the following query. Have searched all over but remain unclear.

I am trying to get to the bottom of i-864.

I receive a monthly pension from Ministry of Defence. The monthly pension x 12 does not meet the 125% Federal Poverty Guidelines. In order to make up the difference we have cash which are proceeds of our recent house sale in UK. There is more than sufficient cash to meet 3 x the shortfall between 125% and my annual pension income.

Can this be used to meet the i-864 requirement?

We would rather take this approach than use a Joint Sponsor.

    Grateful for all guidance.

Saying refused seems like they haven’t acknowledged receiving the CV. Did they have you upload it or courier in?

So the CO didn’t tell me how to send it at the interview, he only gave me a yellow 221g slip, and I panicked forgot to ask. I didn’t hear back from them with instructions of how to send the CV, therefore I sent it by the email address on the 221(g) form. I think they must have got it? Because within 1hour I sent the CV, the status got updated? I even sent another email asking for acknowledgment later, however no reply outside of an automated email. Do you suggest I should keep asking if they have received my CV?

Based on all the longer AP security related cases I have known in London, it can be weeks, months, or longer.  There is no way to guess and no amount of emailing will give you an answer of what they are checking or how long it will take.

I guess it was a good sign that they took both my passports?  ( The old passport has my 10years B1/B2 tourism visa in it, CO said they have to cancel it once IR-1 is issued!) I remember the CO at the interview told me it will take about 2 weeks time. But it has slightly pass that timeline. I think the last update on visa status has changed twice but it stays at refused!

  11. So I am a chinese National, I and my USC husband have lived and worked in the UK for 4 years. We filed our I-130 through DCF London before lockdown in the UK. Got approved on 9th June, got my LND number on 19th August, IR -1 interview on 3rd of September. However my personal CV was requested during the interview which I already sent. Since then my visa status has been stuck with “ refused” for almost two weeks. I sent email once to ask for an update, if they have received my document etc, However all I got was a generic rely( not to make any travel plans, every case varies some can take weeks or even months). Has anyone here had the similar situation as mine? I’m getting more and more worried as my visa status hasn’t changed for almost two weeks.

Just an update on how my interview went yesterday.

They took paperwork from me as requested rather than handing them a pack. Appointment letter, currier confirmation, 1 Passport pic, Police cert, Birth cert and marriage cert.

They did not ask for anything else unless it was somehow already included with what I handed over.  I feel sure I was only asked 3 questions and made aware of the fact I was reaching the two year point as I was made aware that If I enter at the two year point I MAY need to convert for the 10 but he did openly say he wasn't entirely sure how that worked. I mentioned I was aware and that I heard it could also be automatic but will keep any eye out for it.

I was asked a few questions like how and where we met ( Perhaps he grouped them ) What my husband does for a living and when I plan to move. I am fairly sure that's all I was asked.

I was told I was good to go and my visa would be with me in just over a week.

24 hours later I noticed my case was showing as Administrative Processing but I am going assume that is normal at this point?

I know everyone tends to believe the embassy will be stressful but honestly it was stress free and straightforward. Just be honest and if you don't know or don't remember, be honest and don't guess. I mad a mistake and I corrected it and we both laughed about it.

The hardest thing about yesterday was getting my butt out of bed at 4am but when you realise why you're awake, it's perfectly OK!

Congratulations on the approval! I guess you are British National?  I had my interview on 3rd September, an additional document was requested which I already sent(my guess is because of my chinese nationality, the additional document was requested) but my visa status stuck at” refused” for almost two weeks now. If yours is at “AP” it should be issued later today or Tomorrow! Good luck! And I’m very jealous

  13. I had my IR-1 interview in London on 3rd of September. An additional document was needed after the interview as well. I sent it by email and only got an automated email therefore I have no idea if they have received my document. My case has been staying at “refused” for a week now. Very frustrating process as there’s no clear timeline for this! I sent them email asking for an update, but I was only told that they will only be able to inform me after the visa is issued.

If anyone has any idea who else we can or should try to call open to any and all suggestions. Our expedite has been under review since August 5th and I haven't seen any other requests take this long to approve/deny. Can we send them a follow up email with additional evidence or a new reason? My partner is on the cusp of losing his job due to the pandemic in which case I may need to help him pay rent (thus covering two rents) but I don't know if that is a valid "financial hardship".  I am willing to try anything at this point

Hey, you should also try to leave a comment on the embassy’s Facebook to draw some attention. I left a comment on their reopen post and they answered me back the next day saying they will pass along the message to colleagues. The day after that, I sent another email to info unit explaining my tough situation and two hours later they sent me the LND number for me to proceed my application!

  15. So I just had interview for IR-1 visa today at the embassy in London. The CO okayed all the documents I prepared and submitted, however he asked for an additional document which is my personal CV including education/work experience and source of funding for college and graduate school. Someone in the VJ said it is probably my chinese nationality and electrical engineering background triggered this requirement. Have anyone here had similar experience? If so how soon after you send the document did they process and issue the visa?
