    Hey Guys,

I have a question for the folks who received the EAD:

DId you also receive your SSN Card? If so, how long did that take?

We checked the box on the form to allow USCIS to release the information to SSA in order to generate a card but I have been reading online that USCIS does not always send this over.

    I appreciate the help.

Yeah i got an ssn card with my ead. It has a statement on the ssn that it is only valid with the ead.

Wow..I wish you get your interview done soon..

My application was sent in Feb 2020, and I don't even think I will get my fingerprint done anytime soon ahaha

    i hope so too..

i got here on a b1/b2 visa...then covid happened, we decided to get married at the county clerk office last march 2020 because our dream destination wedding was likely not doable in the near future. we filed aos and i-130 last june.

how about you we're you on a k-1 or b1/b2?

Yeah, "Ready to be scheduled for an interview" doesn't mean anything time-wise. It only means that NBC is done with the pre-processing of your case (NBC is the service center that prepares cases for interviews). Now your case will sit there and collect dust until your local field office is actually ready to schedule you for an interview. All field offices have different processing times - some people wait for weeks, most wait for many months and some for years to get their interviews actually scheduled after their statuses changed to "ready to be scheduled". So like I said, time-wise that status doesn't mean anything.

You will want to look out for the status that says "interview has been scheduled".

oh okay...thanks for the explanation. :)

Does the email say that your case is "ready to be scheduled for an interview", or that they have already scheduled an interview?

If they have already scheduled your interview, you should receive the letter within 2 weeks, likely sooner than that. Interviews seem to be scheduled 4-6 weeks into the future.

If they haven't scheduled an interview and the email only states that your case is READY to be scheduled for an interview, then you have may have to wait for several more months (hard to say now because of the pandemic etc).

it only says ready to be scheduled. so i guess, there's more waiting. my husband and i got too excited receiving that email. good thing though, no RFEs before the interviews. hope i didn't jinx it though.

That's good in my opinion. Did you submit your I-693 along with your I-485?

After biometrics I got a RFE for Supplement J (which I don't need to submit) and I-693 (which I was planning to take for the interview). So if all your documents is there, there is no reason to send a RFE. I have a feeling that they are going to waive the interview as well. Good luck!

Also which employment category are you in?

oh i’m a family-based aos. This covid19 fast forwarded everything for us. Went here to visit family and my boyfriend. He proposed the day after i arrived in january. We were planning on a destination wedding in my home country but covid happened and flights got cancelled. we anticipated that this pandemic will make it harder to travel, so we got married by march the week before everything went on lockdown.

Here's my timeline, if this helps. We concurrently filed I-130 & I-485

    Date sent : 06/29

    Date received: 07/02

    CC charged: 07/16

    NOA1 texts: 07/21

    NOA1 letter: 07/27

Biometric appointment: not yet received but I've read in VJ that people who filed in May & June are getting appointments for next week.

really? we filed last june, i hope we get scheduled soon...my anxious heart can't take it...

  7. we sent our packet june 5th. we received noa-1 june 16th. our packet contained i-485, i-130, and  i-765. in one of the noa (i-485) it says our application was received and is in process, and will be waiting for the biometrics to take place. does that mean they encashed the money order we got? because the money order was from chase and i don't know how to track if it was cashed.

although until now we haven't heard anything from uscis since the june 16th noa-1 we received. is this normal?

my anxious brain sometimes goes haywire of all the possibilities, because i came here on a b2 visa, wasn't planning on an extended stay but my boyfriend-turned fiancee- turned husband, wanted me too because covid19 happened and realized traveling for a destination wedding in the future might not really be in the books now.

    thanks for the future replies.

Thank you for your response! What will she say to CBP at the airport upon entry? Is it safe to say that we will be getting married and she doesn't intend to overstay?

I had thought on considering Option 2 (K-1 visa), but as you said, she won't be able to work for several months. Yes, I would have to wait until DOS lifts the worldwide level 4 travel advisory.

Thank you for the information! This is very helpful.

i travelled alone and arrived in the US last january 2020 to visit family and my boyfriend. we got engaged the day after i arrived in the US. we were planning on getting married in my home country too. but COVID-19 happened and my return flight got cancelled in the process. considering all the pros and cons of going overstaying and applying for an extension of stay, we decided to get married. we got married march 11, 2020 right before all the government offfices closed. we then went to an immigration expert to help us process my adjustment of status.

yes, AoS requires me to stay at home and not work for almost a year (hoping it doesn't get delayed) but with the current situation right now, i guess doing AoS was the best choice for us.
