*** Topic moved from IR1/CR1 spousal visa (consular processing) to AOS work/student/tourist visas ***
Just as an fyi that EAD are processed at a service center and I-485 is processed separately at a local field office so EAD approval isn’t an indication of I-485 approval.

Legal marriage certificate issued by the state.
Depending on your state, a religious ceremony is considered a legal marriage ceremony which will produce a legal marriage certificate. That’s how it was for us in NY. The imam sent the paperwork to the county after the ceremony and the county issued a marriage certificate.

Does this count as government support in terms of the affidavit of support (i-864)?
No, it doesn’t

Typically, USPS delivers to their PO Boxes. I don’t think this is an issue.

Just to clarify… the link about the „immigrant visa process“ is not for the K1 visa… I got really confused again 🫣
K1 is treated as an immigrant visa and is processed by the immigrant visa unit at the consulate. The process of obtaining the police certificates is the exactly the same for K1 applicants

Note: Present and former residents of the United States do NOT need to submit any U.S. police certificates.

Yes, you must obtain one. You can find instructions under UK -> police, court records:
Just to clarify, K1 applicants do not submit any documents to NVC. There is no interaction with NVC besides them holding your petition until the consulate requests a batch yours is in. You will bring the police certificate to the interview.

That is not grounds for a visa denial.
in my opinion, the bigger issue is if SA will let him in with the history of overstay. But I’m not well versed in border control policies of SA, maybe someone else will be able to advise.
Documents might not arrive before the interview. What now?

Do not reschedule. They will put your case on hold until they receive the missing docs.
