    Congratulations 🍾!!!
could you please share the last part of your message - about the documents that weight to proof the relationship at the time of removing the conditions in 18 months from approval date right ?
what type of documents they mentioned.
    Thanks 😊

    Thank you!

I definitely can, but I am not sure if it is going to be anything new. She did mention that they look at things you have together and obligations together. Like loans, car insurances, utility bills from random months, joint bank account statements and tax returns filed together, and kids birth certificates (if any).

  2. We just got back from our interview, it was easy and we got verbal approve!

We came 15 minutes before the time, got checked in, and waited till they call us.

The officer called us in exactly on scheduled time, asked us to swear to tell the truth.

Then she mentioned that everything is computerized now, so she will has to go through her computer a little without asking much questions. She was doing some side talks, and made this really easy and comfortable. She confirmed some of the personal information, asked if I submitted the medical.

I did a new medical just in case, because since my last time it’s already been over a year, she took it and said it’s a good thing I did, because “technically it’s expired”.

She asked if I work, what was my last job, and then she asked what we brought as a proof of our relationships. We gave her lease agreement, tax return, joint account proof, health insurance and pictures.

she asked if we have car insurance, but I don’t drive now, so now.

then she said she will approve me today, and explained the next process of removing the conditions really in details, mentioning which documents have weight to proof the relationship.

My understanding is that the medical is good for 1 year, and the important date is the date when you filed, not the date of the interview.  With that said, in our case, we were unable to finish a series of vaccines before our visa interview, so we opted to go to the civil surgeon before applying for AOS and finish the vaccine series, and they went ahead and gave us a full examination and an I-693; however, it isn't strictly necessary.  I do believe that officers have required this in certain instances. I included the original sealed I-693 in our application for AoS.  Again, this isn't strictly necessary, but our officer ended up asking me about our medical and when I said we got an I-693, she asked for a copy.  This was the only document she asked us for.

As to COVID vaccine-- this requirement was not added until I believe October of last year.  Since you are posting in the July forum, I assume you applied for Adjustment of Status in July, and therefore this shouldn't be an issue.  I say shouldn't because I think officers can decide unilaterally if they want.  However, in our case, we didn't have the COVID vaccine noted on the I-693 or the prior embassy paperwork.  I did make a copy of her vaccine card just in case, but it was not asked for in the interview.

My strategy was to just print off the application that we submitted, then ahve a separate folder with some more up-to-date things like more recent pictures, paystubs, my 2021 W2, etc.  I didn't go overboard-- just a few extra things.  Make sure you bring originals of the birth certificates and the interview NOA (if not all letters from USCIS).

    Good luck!

Thank you so much, for such a detailed response.

It's interesting that they have not asked you for COVID-19 vaccine, because I was sure they would.

Anyway, I've decided to do medical just to avoid any possible delays, because as you also mentioned seems like any officer can do what they want...

  4. Finally received a notice for the interview! April 6th.

By the time of the interview my medical checkup, which I've done for my K1, will be over 1 year, so I wonder if anybody had the same situation and completed the medical again or not?

I am planning to do it again, just to be sure since I still have to update my vaccination record adding Covid-19 vaccine there, but just curious what everybody else did?

Also the list of the document on the interview notice is pretty big, but it is basically everything we've already submitted before and won't be a problem. Do they really check it during the interview?

I think the time frame is that they need to update our case in some way within 90 days since the last update (similar to how we have to respond to RFEs within 90 days). So for July filers, we're coming up on that deadline for many of them.

As an engineer, I also think that with the number of cases they're working with, it's unlikely whey would be going through them one by one, checking everyone's date, and making sure they haven't had an update in the last 90 days. If it was me, I would search the cases for receipt dates in July, that are still stuck in the service center (i.e. not waiting for interview) and mass send out an RFE for a birth certificate. This is why some people with bio appointments are getting RFEs. There's just too many cases to be checking them granularly like that.

Again, I'm speculating here, but if I was running the place and had tens of thousands of cases and thousands of people under me, this is how I would be meeting legal mandates.

I honestly started to have the same theory..

They do accept USSR birth certificates. When filling out I-485 did you put USSR as the country of birth?

    Thank you for your reply.

yes, I did put USSR as my country of birth.

We’ve tried to call to USCIS today, but the woman said she has no information why and suggested us to consult with immigration attorney 🤦‍♀️ Which I don’t think will be helpful

  7. Hi, we received a RFE today saying "must submit a copy of their birth certificate issued by the appropriate civil
authority in their country of birth. We will only accept a long-form birth certificate which lists at least one
    parent."

I was born in USSR, which does not exist anymore, but even in my passport is says that I was born in USSR and not Russia.

We sent the copy of my USSR birth certificate with AOS package, and I also see the scan of it on my USCIS account.

It is the official document and even has the apostile on it, and it has both my parents names.

So, I am confused what exactly they want?

    1. Do they want the birth certificate issued by Russia, and not USSR?

    2. What happens if we just send them the same copy USSR birth certificate, and they still don't like it? Will they send us another RFE or just drop the case?

    Thank you

  8. Hi, I would like to ask people’s experience on how long the biometric appointment itself took you?

I got my scheduled appointment on the same date I have a flight to go to  Washington DC to my country’s consulate for personal reasons. If the appointment doesn’t take longer 1,5 hours, I can still make it to my flight.

I assume it’s different in every state, but still would like to know people’s experience.

  9. I was told the same on my interview, and it drove me nuts until I got my visa. So it’s stressful. Also the status of the application first changed to “refused” right after the interview. Which looks to be normal case.. the status changed to “application received” after two days, and after two more days to “visa issued”.

I received my visa one week after the interview.

I think they say “intend to approve” because they still have to look closer on documents you just brought on the day of interview..
so try not to go too crazy, I was told the same thing and I got my visa without any troubles! Good luck!

Hello, does anyone know the P3 for the embassy in Tokyo? I'm sure if different per case but I'm not sure if this would be of any help, I am from the Philippines but I am working in Japan. Any info would be highly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi, I posted recently that for foreigners it seems like they have a little bit of additional requirements . They asked me (I am Russian but live in Japan) to send them documents before the interview. I attached this page which is different from what they send to Japanese people.

also you can find P3 on previous pages.

@NataliaM were you able to schedule a new appointment relatively soon? Our interview was originally scheduled for 1/28 and got cancelled around the 20th (they emailed us saying they cancelled certain interviews on the 22nd and 28th). My fiancée was able to reschedule for the 3rd, fortunately, but that was like the only date in February available when she logged in.

I scheduled the appointment for February 2nd (tomorrow), but had to cancel it because of this additional instructions. I didn’t schedule the new one yet, because the instructions says I should wait till they process it. I checked today, the next available date is just March 2nd... we lost two weeks because they sent the documents to the wrong address first, and now this :(

Interesting that you got a separate list for that, but those documents are also found by following packet3 to the ustraveldocs site. Except maybe the resident card.. I didn’t see that previously listed.

    List of documents:

You are right. The documents are not the new information.

But they are for the interview.

In my case they’ve asked to send it by post  first(Letterpack).

  13. Just decided to share some information for foreigners, applying from Japan. I am not sure if it will be useful for Japanese people.

We received the notification from NVC that our documents were sent to the consulate on January 5th. We were patient ant waited three weeks before contact consulate (as it says on their web-site).

After three weeks we didn’t receive any instructions, so eventually through the inquiry form and direct call from the consulate I figured out that they sent documents to the wrong address (their mistake) and they will resend it again. Though they offered to send them by e-mail first. I was happy to see the e-mail with the instructions the same day, I had all documents ready already, so I made an appointment for the interview for the closest day.

One day before my appointment I finally received instructions by mail and there was some extra information which was not in the e-mail.

They’ve asked to send them by mail originals of my birth certificate, divorce certificate, previous passports and resident card.

So I had to cancel my appointment.

my point is wait till you receive instructions by mail. I’ve checked the packet3 on this forum, and have not seen this notice as I received, so decided to share it.
