  1. Proof of residency is different than proof of legal residency. They can ask for a piece of mail to confirm your address, but not your green card to confirm if you're here legally or not.
  2. We filed it with our petition and my husband has been receiving text updates. Petition sent two weeks ago and 2 text updates received since.
  3. meant to reply to that one when first posted. I personally want to be done with USCIS forever!
  4. Out of curiosity, why haven't you filed for citizenship instead?
  5. Finally sent my package off last week and pleasantly surprised by how fast they processed everything! The timeline is a little wonky though 6/17: Sent to Carol Stream, IL via USPS (expected delivery date 6/21) 6/20: Case received according to USCIS portal 6/21: Delivery to PO Box by USPS according to tracking information 6/26: Case is Being Actively Reviewed By USCIS Checked the portal and saw our our receipt letter and notice our biometric is being reused. We haven't received any physical letters yet. Now we wait for next April to file for citizenship!
  6. Since the spousal visa is such a long process, what's important is proof of ongoing relationship. Make sure you try to spend as much time together and document everything. I believe you can add additional evidence to your file, so I'd recommend that after every trip.
  7. Just adding that we usually start first week of September up in New England and end in June. I think the more southern states start in August.
  8. If it's a public school, you don't need proof of legal residency to enroll a child. You can go through the enrollment process quickly when you get here because all children are required to attend school up until the age of 16. Many undocumented children have no problem going to school and usually hit a road block when it comes time to apply for college, but that's not your case. "All children in the United States are entitled to equal access to a public elementary and secondary education, regardless of their or their parents’ actual or perceived national origin, citizenship, or immigration status. This includes recently arrived unaccompanied children, who are in immigration proceedings while residing in local communities with a parent, family member, or other appropriate adult sponsor." https://www.ed.gov/sites/ed/files/policy/rights/guid/unaccompanied-children.pdf
  9. Why didn't CRBA work?
  10. I think what's also important to note here is whether her getting married will impact the asylum case. Some family sponsorships are only allowed if the children remain unmarried. As others have said, this isn't some cut and dry answer - lots of moving parts to consider.
  11. I'm aware of the form and the person I asked understood what I meant. Thanks though.
  12. We're up for renewal. but I wasn't sure what to include in my package. What did you put in yours?
