  1. My wifes interview was today at 9:45 am at the Newark USCIS office. We saw officer Thompson. They just asked why we chose to get married in the states vs DR, has she used any other names, random questions from the form, any previous marriages or visa denials, and if she belonged to any military group or any underground group etc etc. At the end he said ok we concluded your interview, we will review your case further and give you an update through the mail within 3 weeks. At the end, I told him, hey we have more evidence and copies in a new packet we took, he told us he didnt need any of it. So I pretty much spent time doing all that for nothing lol. At any rate, by the time we got home and checked her status online, it stated new card ordered and being produced! So pretty much we got approved on the spot but not really, if that makes any sense lol. Good luck guys. Hopefully whoever is left from the August group that has their cases still pending gets positive news and outcomes very soon!

  3. Good afternoon everyone. Ive been reading posts regarding this year's tax season ( 2020 tax year ), and Im confused regarding the test. My wife, arrived with her K1 on July 4th 2020. So far she has done her biometrics, received her AP, EAD and SS card. When using the presence test method, is that for next year's taxes (2021 tax season), or was she considered a resident for tax purposes for this season ( 2020). Ive already filed taxes and it was received. Though I totally didnt realize, at the time hwen filing, about non resident vs resident. Im an US citizen, so I know I could file her as a resident but need to include her worldwide income. However it was very low since she stopped working back in Feb 2020, thinking she could fly out but then all the COVID bans happened.  So technically I can file an amendment, but I wish to clarify for which  year is she considered a resident via the substantial presence test. Thanks everyone in advance for any input, and good luck to all!

Good afternoon everyone. My wife and I checked her case online and finally her EAD and AP were approved yesterday. How long after this update will she receive her ead and her ss card? If anyone from this group filed living in NJ, would you please share your estimates if you guys have received both cards. Thanks everyone. Have a great day!

Update.  So on May 4th her EAD status changed to card mailed,  while her AP was updated to case approved and to expect the approval notice. I was thinking to myself, " her social wont arrive in time for my taxes." So I was about to file an extension. Anyway,  I checked informed delivery and she had 2 envelopes with the notice of action for approval, a separate envelope with her EAD/AP combo card and the icing on the cake is that her SS card was the 4th envelope! Great weekend indeed!

  5. My fiancee and I entered through JFK, yesterday July 4th coming from Punca Cana. Smoothest procedure, ever. Not even one question asked. Gave in the paper work, went to another room and was barely in there waiting for 2 minutes then the officer took in the paperwork and said we're good to go. I was getting prepped for questions for delays, but wow. Also being that the airport was empty was a huge help as well.

does anyone know if the executive order will affect the people who already got their visas but still stuck overseas? my fiance got it 2 months ago and she got stuck bc of the corona thing :(

I'm in the same boat as you. My fiancé got her k1 approved back in late February and wanted to come out here 1st week of April from DR. Then all this happened now we're in limbo.  Her country won't let anyone in right now and only letting out US citizens and legal residents.  K1 holders would have to wait till DR opens back up, but now with the news of broad immigration stoppage, we're just disheartened to say the least.
