Sounds like your AO is one super-busy or I don't give a .... kind of person. With the massive roll out of biometric reuse last week, one would have thought you will get that at least after all the messages and letter.

Just keep bugging them till someone will do the needful.

or that the prior biometrics is too old so it's being held up for a higher level manager to make the call

My biometrics re-use was from 1.75 years ago

  2. FYI if you applied a long time ago and have heard nothing back you need to contact them. I filed April 2020 and I emailed them 5 days ago asking to schedule biometrics and within 2 days they told me they would re-using prior biometrics (no fee refund!) and the interview should follow after that. Had I not followed up, they would have moved to the next step who knows when, probably in the summer

Is it only two to three years?

I can not get all my taxes return for the last five years transcripts only till 2016.
    What should I do?

    Thanks.

Okay so first you need to take a step back and understand the law for applying for Naturalization. In order to gain citizenship, you have to qualify for an eligible category, whether it be marriage based (3 years permanent resident) or time based (5 years permanent resident) . When you elect a basis for action, you must demonstrate GOOD MORAL CHARACTER during that period. Good moral character means no arrests, you paid your taxes, you didn't engage in prostitution, you registered for the selective service, etc...  within that specific time period.

So as it relates to taxes, for marriage based you need to show you paid your taxes in the past three years, otherwise you need to show the past 5 years.  You can give them your own copies, or you can obtain an IRS transcript online and provide that to USCIS. You should also know that the USCIS and IRS do not talk to each other. The IRS  has refused to cooperate with immigration matters as a matter of process, so what you send the USCIS will not be verified with the IRS. But send in fake tax returns at your own risk, it is an extremely serious offense to materially provide false information to immigration and you could soon find yourself on a plane back to somewhere you don't want to go

I strongly suggest you hire an attorney to guide you through the process.

You don't need a lawyer unless you have a problem with your application or you're not willing to take the time to carefully review all the procedures and requirements. I've done everything myself from the initial green card, to preliminary work / travel authorization, to N-400 and had zero problems. All the information is out there, lawyers are leeches in general no lawyer is going to turn down your request even if they know you don't need them

All right April filers!! A bit of good news here

I ve been watching this thread since April 15 when I filed my N-400. I have received my receipt notice the same day (I filed online) but since then nothing has changed until today when I decided to check my USCIS website then I read the following:

    NOTICE TO APPLICANT:

    Biometric Reuse

    U. S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has received your form and is currently processing your application, petition, or request. This noticeinforms you that USCIS is able to reuse your previously captured fingerprints and other biometrics. USCIS will run the same security checks and useyour biometric data as in the past, however, it is not necessary for you to appear at a USCIS Application Support Center (ASC) for a biometricsappointment. The biometrics fee will not be refunded.
USCIS is continuing to process your application, petition, or request. USCIS will contact you in writing if any additional information is necessary to resolveyour case.
This notice is not an approval of your pending application, petition, or request.

So things are moving forward, I should emphasize that my local office is in Cleveland, the fastest local processing center in the nation.

What application was your previous biometrics for and when did you get those biometrics?

I got N-400 NOA 4/21 NYC, no biometrics scheduled and no updates except expected time went from December 2020 to January 2021

    Hi all,

I have applied my n400 on may18th.waiting for biometric appointment. Estimated time is feb 2021 for my case. I have few speeding tickets since last 10 years.. I did not mention this any where in the form. Is it okay? I am worried about this..

You should have mentioned it. In New York state you can request your driving record for a small fee. I found all my traffic tickets over 25 years and itemized every single one on the n400 application ( I had about 7). Documentation is not required under $500 penalty. You're probably ok , but if you have anything over $500 that will be a big problem if they find out and you need to volunteer the documentation before they review your petition

  7. USCIS Announces it Will Reopen Offices and Resume Certain Public Services on June 4

USCIS announced on May 27 that it will reopen domestic offices and resume certain public services on June 4. USCIS had previously temporarily suspended routine in-person services at its field offices, asylum offices and application support centers (ASCs) in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. USCIS maintains a list of office closures and amended hours on its website. As part of USCIS’ resumption of in-person services, it is requiring that visitors do not visit an office if they experience any of the following:

    • Have any symptoms of COVID-19, including cough, fever or difficulty breathing;

    • Have been in close contact with anyone known or suspected to have COVID-19 in the last 14 days; or

    • Have been individually directed to self-quarantine or self-isolate by a health care provider or public health official within the last 14 days.

USCIS offices will also restrict visitors entrance of a facility to not more than 15 minutes prior to an appointment (30 minutes for naturalization ceremonies). They will also make hand sanitizer available for visitors and all visitors must wear a facial covering that covers both the mouth and the nose. USCIS is also encouraging visitors to bring their own pens. USCIS will also restrict who is permitted to accompany visitors to their facilities, depending upon the nature of the appointment. For those with cancelled appointments, including asylum, naturalization or biometrics appointments, USCIS has indicated they will send notices to affected individuals with specific safety requirements (which may be in addition to those laid out above) and guidance on who may attend an appointment with the applicant or petitioner. Anyone who believes they should have received a rescheduling notice may always contact the USCIS Contact Center.

The email is just a payment confirmation.

Within 72 hours you'll be able to see your receipt notice (form i-797c, also known as NOA1) under the documents tab on your online account.

This very same receipt notice will also be mailed to you, you'll receive it about a week later.

Hmm, that never happened for me. I filed around 4/23 and the receipt came the next day, but never had anything else posted online

  9. any word on if biometrics is actually re-opening on June 4th?

Edit: this immigration attorney is saying they will indeed open June but go broke by summer's end and close again:

    https://jamaicans.com/immigration-advice-uscis-is-reopening-on-4-june-but-may-run-out-of-money-by-the-summers-end/

"USCIS asserts it will run it of money by the summers’ end unless a bailout is in the works....Because USCIS has closed its field offices and reduced its operations it has collected significantly fewer filing fees than it normally does creating a serious budget shortfall, according to USCIS... in addition to the already high filing fees, USCIS wants applicants and petitioners to pay a ten (10) percent (%) surcharge on all filing fees paid"

USCIS has now stated their offices are closed until June 4th.  Looks like we all get to wait another month...

I imagine that if one filed today and for example biometrics would normally be in 14 days and the interview in 6 months, since all service centers are closed and your biometrics are pushed to 3 months., that the interview would still happen on time in 6 months?
