  1. Did everyone bring an ORIGINAL birth certificate to Juarez? I sent my fiance's original with my I129F submission! So we only have copies. We are just trying to save 30 or 40 dollars, do you think that we should get another original or will the Juarez consulate have it on file? Or better yet, do they even ask for a bc?

Yes, an original and a copy of the birth certificate. Here are the instructions: http://ciudadjuarez.usconsulate.gov/wwwfcdj400.pdf Since you have some time before you receive your Fiancee Packet in the mail, you should have her get another original certificate. With the I-129F submission, you should have only given a copy of any documents (birth/naturalization/citizenship certificates, divorce decrees). I'm not sure if they will have the original you sent, since I've heard that you should not expect to receive anything with the I-129f original submission back to you.

    Hope this helps...

thanks for the responces nm123. appreciate it.

Sure thing! You will still have about 2 months before receiving your fiance packet with the open appointment letter and instructions. The consulate sends it to both the beneficiary and the petitioner, but because of the mail system in MX, she may not receive it, so you can scan your appointment letter and email it to her. Or just give it to her in Juarez and wait for her outside while the interview is going on.

  3. does anyone know if cdj requires the k2 child present at the interview?

It looks like if the child is under 14, yes. Here's the instructions on the CDJ website, and it's in the first paragraph: http://ciudadjuarez.usconsulate.gov/wwwfcdj435.pdf

    I meant to edit:

It looks like if the child is under 14, yes. Here's the "Appointment Package for Immigrant Visa Applicants" (even though the K1 is a non-immigrant visa, I looked here) instructions on the CDJ website, and it's in the first paragraph: http://ciudadjuarez.usconsulate.gov/wwwfcdj435.pdf

And on the "Fiancee Packet" instructions, it says if the child is under 21 and going to the US too, you need to provide valid, original birth certificate, medical exam, photographs, and the DS-156 form by duplicate: http://ciudadjuarez.usconsulate.gov/wwwfcdj400.pdf

  4. Just a little update--My fiancee is on her way to Juarez and we will hopefully know something soon...There will be some delay, because as I understand it, it can take 4 days to get the results of the kids medicals. That seems weird to me...Anyway, hopefully in about a week I'll have some good news...

I hope so! Good luck and let us know how things go!

  5. I agree with what NM123 says about having a co-sponsor, to be safe. That's what we did. When Juan went to CDJ, he took my financial info. but he also took my dad's financial info. to play it safe. I had been a full time college student with a work study job position that only payed about 3000 per year. Although by the time, Juan went to CDJ I had a full time job, we thought it would be better to have a backup in case it was needed. It is better being safe, than sorry don't you think.

About your comment NM123 about this thread dying down, I totally agree. I was one of those original posters who went on this thread like crazy with others going thru the CDJ consulate. But by now, all of those original members are here in the U.S. and have now married their fiance's. I remember I used to say that I would always continue posting on this site, even after Juan arrived in the U.S. But it totally changes once your partner is here in the U.S. and there is so much to do, so much to catch up on. It will happen to all of you, you'll see.

    Toodles!

Just in case the other USC's petitioning their fiance/e's in Mexico don't know about this thread, I am going to message them now!

  6. Hi we are about to send our visa packet to ciudad juarez, and well all we need now is for them to let us know when to go to mexico, to our interview (1st), how long does it take for us to get a spot? and other question i'm going to start doing the letter of hardship and don't got an idea of what or where or how to start it off, what if i do it wrong or something... please help me out??? :help:

Are you working on a I-601 Waiver? If so, there is a special thread here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showforum=113

And on the CDJ website: http://ciudadjuarez.usconsulate.gov/wwwhcishardship.html

    And tips: http://immigrate2us.net/forum/showthread.php?t=83

    Examples of good letters: http://www.immigrate2us.net/forum/showthread.php?t=22

    Examples of denied: http://immigrate2us.net/forum/showthread.php?t=29

  7. Do you think my above financial information will be sufficient? And does CJ really examine the financial records to ensure that the foreign citizen will not become a public charge? I mean do they thoroughly examine the papers and pull out a calculator and make sure you are not a penny under the requirements? I am trying to decide if I need a co-sponsor or not?

I'm sure if you are close they will question it. My wife said they looked at mine and made several comments about my income being very good. They do look so make sure it is enough, if not have a backup sponsor.

To be safe, I think it would be a good idea to have a co-sponsor. Sometimes the consular officer will look at only the pictures and ongoing relationship info without even looking at the tax transcripts/bank letter/employment letter. And other times, they do. I think it would be better to have all your bases covered than to hope they don't look at it.

Sigh... I wish there were more people for our consulate commenting on here... It seems like when this thread started, there were a lot of USC petitioning their fiance/ee's and being very active with this thread, and now... it's just a few people.

  8. Just received NOA 2 notice today! Couple of questions....

    1) I know I can prepare everything in packet 3 ahead of time, but....What paper do I need before I can officially go to the embassy? Does that come with my packet 3 papers?

    2) You know how visajourney has its own INTENT TO MARRY format, can I use that or do I need to use the CJD 401 form off the Juarez website?

Congratulations on receiving NOA2! You'll need to receive your open appointment letter, which will come with Packet 3. On the Juarez website, it is "Instructions, form CDJ 400." At the end, it states:

"...THIRD: As soon as you have obtained all of the documents that apply in your case, you can come to this Consulate any working day Monday thru Friday between 8:00 to 10:00 a.m."

As for the Intent to Marry, I've seen people use either form. If you look at the one on the Juarez website, the example letter was last updated Sep 2005, and people have used the VJ one since after Sep 2005.

    Good luck with everything!

I meant to add that instead of a "Packet 3," it's just called the Fiance Packet.

  10. New Ciudad Juarez consulate location.

    Hello everyone,

I visited the Ciudad Juarez forum (http://www.smf.juarez-mexico.com/) today and saw that in June 2008, there will be a new location for the consulate. Is anyone on here thinking that their interview will be at this new location? The info about this update is located at: http://www.smf.juarez-mexico.com/index.php...g39006#msg39006

    Excerpt:

"By mid-March 2008, the consulate believes that it will be able to comply with the "30/60-day" Congressional mandate. That rule requires the consulate to schedule an IV interview within 30 days of receipt of an immediate relative application from the NVC; the consulate must schedule the interview within 60 days for a preference category case. Due to the high volume of applications and increased demand, the consulate has been unable to meet that requirement.

"Upcoming move. The consulate anticipates a huge demand for services next year when millions of laser visas (border crossing cards) throughout Mexico will need to be renewed. Another demand will come through implementation of the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative, which will require U.S. citizens to have a passport to travel to and from Mexico. The consulate will be moving into new facilities in June 2008, which will be larger, more modern, and better able to accommodate the increased number of immigrant and nonimmigrant visa applicants, as well as U.S. citizens seeking services. All of the various consular and USCIS offices will be housed together in this new compound, which will be located a little bit farther into Cd. Juarez (nine miles from the Port of Entry).

"The physical move next summer should not cause much interruption in services."

Question - what is this 30/60 day Congressional mandate? Does this mean that K-1 visas will require appointments now, instead of the open appointment letter?

    Thanks all,

    nm

  11. My Mexican fiance has 4 names, for example: Nicholas Robert Herrera Mencia. His identification card, voter card, and birth certificate lists all 4 names.

When the I-129F and the G-325A ask for his First, Middle, and Last (family) names, what is the best option:

    1. List his Last name as "Herrera Mencia" and First name as "Nicolas Robert," list no middle name

    2. Last name "Herrera," First name "Nicholas," and Middle name "Robert Mencia"

    3. Last name "Herrera Mencia," First name "Nicholas," Middle name "Robert"

Or, should I just state his 4 names in the Cover Letter and make a simple statement like, "Because it was difficult to fit my fiance's full name in the petition and biographic information sheets, his full name is Nicholas Robert Herrera Mencia, but is simply listed as Nicholas Herrera in the following pages?"

  12. Congratulations, KitKat!!

I'm practicing filling out the I-129F and even though Mexico doesn't require the I-134, but some of the other Juarez people have used it to make the process easier. If I end up using it, should I get it notarized (the bottom part asks for a Signature of Officier Administering Oath), or can I just leave that blank (or just sign my own name but leave the "commission expires on ___" blank?).

Also, I am a naturalized US citizen and I'm confused about the "A" number. On my certificate of citizenship, there are two A numbers (one is in red ink, and the other has the phrase "Registration No." next to it). Which one do I use on the forms I'm filling out?

    Thanks everyone,

    nm

  13. I found a new service that you can get a local Latin American number and you have unlimited incoming and outgoing calls.

    http://www.digilinea.com/English/Index1.asp

    Gaby,

Have you tried that service yet? If so, please let me know how it works! Right now I'm using Skype and added an extra feature to my cell phone service (Tmobile) that just charges $5/month + 7 cents per min to call Mexico and it's worked out great so far.

  14. My wife's parents aren't computer literate this is the only reason I haven't tried this. When my wife was there we used internet phones. I was hoping to find a way for people to call us from a land line without having international rates as well as us calling land lines in Mexico without international rates.

With Skype, you can get a "local number" (well I don't know if it's local to the Mexican state that the parents live in, or if you have an option of the state code as well) where the parents can call your computer from their landline. You can also have voicemail. I bet you could just leave your computer on with the speakers on to make sure you hear it soñar.

  15. Has anyone found a VOIP (voice over internet provider) that issues phone numbers for Mexico? I am looking for a way to get a Mexican phone number over the internet so my wife can call her family as if it were a local call. Also her family could call her as if it were a local call. My wife's family is in Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico and currently we use net zero. The rates are 10 cents per minute which isnt too bad but if we could find a provider in Mexico we could get a mexican number and the monthly fee would be all we would have to pay.

Try yahoo messenger with voice, it´s only .2 cts./min.

Is there a way to print out your call history on Yahoo Voice services?

  16. Oh yeah, to the person (nm?) who apologized for going off topic, don't worry about it!

The topic is all things to do with Juarez, so ask away!

I really love this thread! Everyone is so helpful here, and I know it might get a little repetitive when some of us newbies ask the same questions... but thanks to all you girls (and the few guys in here) for all your patience!

With some of the other threads, some members merely use the "Read the guides!" icon, which is really discouraging because I've searched the forums and the guides, and sometimes my own questions aren't answered. So thanks to all of you.

  17. I'm off topic again, but to cut back on the unnecessary "stuff" that you send with the I-129F petition, is it okay to not submit the envelopes from letters, and to just submit the letters themselves as part of your other secondary evidence of the relationship? I know this might be a minor detail, but I don't want it to be a major detail if it gets an RFE since the actual pages of letters didn't have the postage date stamp.

Also, when submitting phone records, is it alright to just submit the actual pages that the calls to & from Mexico are listed (with the calls highlighted), and not the extra pages of other phone numbers where the Mexican calls don't even show up?

    Thanks again,

    nm

  18. Regarding the I-129F petition, part of Question 2 for "Part C. Other information" is a little confusing to me and I'd like to know if it might be grounds for a denial on the K-1 visa? Btw, I am the USC petitioner (female) and my fiance lives in Mexico. The part I'm concerned about is "Three or more convictions for crimes relating to a controlled substance or alcohol not arising from a single act."

I understand that the question states, "Have you ever been convicted by a court of law (civil or criminal) or court martialed by a military tribunal for any of the following crimes," to which my answer would be No, because it's not me I'm concerned about (I've only had minor traffic violations) and I think this probably has to do with the IMBRA?

The reason why I am concerned is because my fiance was arrested about 5 yrs ago for being drunk, and he was arrested 4 times during that year. He never had any finger prints or photos taken at those arrests; he just had to stay in jail overnight. He isn't an alcoholic; it was a terrible year for him, and now he only has the occassional cervesa.

I also understand that Mexico doesn't require a police certificate for the K1 interview, but would he be eligible for one to show the occurences were minor?

I'm sorry I'm going in circles, but I'd like to have all bases covered for when everything with the petition-visa-adjustment happens. I don't plan on submitting the I-129 petition until December-February, but I still have questions before everything happens. I've been reading this thread for a couple of weeks now (skimmed some of it when it wasn't related to the consulate, but I had to in order to get through most of it, and I'm not even done! And it's extremely informative, so I really appreciate all the details everyone has provided).

Please let me know anything you're aware of regarding this.

    Thank you!!!!

    nm

  19. Can one of you please link the URL from the CDJ website that shows what items aren't allowed (cell phones, mirrors, metal, etc.)?

    Thank you,

    nm

The directions you received from the consulate with the appointment letter lists everything not allowed.

My wife had her interview on the 25th of July and we flew out of El Paso. One thing to remember is that she has to go to the border crossing to get her I94 and stamp her passport. Depending how busy they are it may take a long time.

Is your wife from Juarez or another part of Mexico?

Gaby&Talbert - I am a female. :star: I'll be petitioning my boyfriend with the I-129 form in a few months - I just want to be ready when I take that step.

For anyone: When I submit the I-129, will my fiance only have to read the information on the CDJ site under the headline "Fiancée Packet," or also the two headlines above the Fiancee Packet? Here is the link: http://ciudadjuarez.usconsulate.gov/wwwhiv...ml#fiancepacket
