Of course... the day I choose to call- their servers are "down" and they are unable to process transcripts for me. grrr
Hey caityrose, I called them on Friday or Saturday night and just got a bunch of them in the mail today. I think I hit a few too many buttons, because I ended up getting 6 or 7 envelopes of transcripts and something else (I haven't gotten a chance to look at them yet), but anyway, just wanted to let you know that when you finally get through, it'll only take a few days for them to arrive.

congrats joey:) im leaving tommorow to bring my fiance back next sunday. our weddings set for aug 23rd
. Im excited. I dunno where I'll take my fiance first for sightseeing. Maybe Alcatraz or the Golden Gate
.
Sanfranguy, that's exciting! I bet the Golden Gate would be something great to see. I've seen Alcatraz but thought the seals at fisherman's warf were more interesting. Or how about China Town or the wax museum?
The seals are something to see. I'm sure she will enjoy bushman too. Did you catch him? He's the guy that hides behind some self made shrubs and scares the tourists as they walk by. He attracts a huge crowd. It's funny seeing the reactions. I'll make my fiance a victim
Hello,Just wondering, did the K-1 people who interviewed in CDJ use the Affidavit of Support I-134 for their K-1 (visa) interview? I'm just wondering which form "support form" the consulate wants filled out for the K-1.
Thanks!
Yes gatita. Thats the one to use.
Sanfran - haha! I didn't see bushman! I remember seeing the gold robot man, but this was a few yrs ago and maybe he isn't there anymore.
Gatita - everyone going to CDJ has used the I-134 form. Just get it notarized, and bring the supporting (tax transcripts, w-2s, employment letter, paystubs) documents. Good luck!
It sure is taking awhile to get my NOA2... but since I am still within the "normal" (not 6+ months) time frame, all I can do is wait.

It really all depends on what her motives are/were, and how you feel for each other. I know a woman from the Philippines who had 2 kids and later married an American. After 3 years of marriage, she finally told him she had once been married before to the father of her children (and divorce isn't legal in the Philippines but her 1st marriage somehow didn't end up registered), but it took her so long to tell him because she thought he would think badly of her and leave her. They got married in 1985 and they are still together and happily married. So it really depends on what your fiance feels and whether you can accept it. And it's true about saving face in the Philippines, so maybe she wanted to save her honor. You should ask her what her motives are, or even what she was thinking, and if she seems to have had good intentions, you can go from there with your decision.

Hello all! My question is for those of you who have already gotten married and are going through the adjustment of status/EAD stage, and whose wives/husbands entered on a K1 visa.
For my hypothetical situation, I would fly to Mexico when my fiance has his K1 visa interview (just in case), and then we would fly together to our home city. We could:
1. Pay a total of $361 (plus taxes/fees) for both of us if we crossed into El Paso and then flew home
or
2. Pay $1521 (plus taxes/fees) for me to fly to El Paso, take a taxi to Ciudad Juarez, and then have both of us fly out of Ciudad Juarez to JFK to possibly receive the temporary work stamp, spend the night (got friends there we could crash with, but there's still the cost of food plus anything we decide to visit in NYC) then onto our home city the next day.
Since JFK is one of the POEs that may offer a temporary 90 day work permit upon entering on a K1 visa for my fiance (and I know there have been a couple of other POEs for this, but it's been rare), do you all think it is worth an extra $1160? I know it depends on my finances - and I have no problem putting that on a credit card - but I would like to know people's experience with not getting the temporary EAD stamp vs. those who paid a little extra to have their fiance/e enter through JFK as their POE. And I also know it depends on whether he gets a job soon after arrival here, or having several interviews and not getting anywhere.
We would then get married within 2-3 weeks, apply for SSN, and then onto adjustment of status, EAD, and AP (but probably won't do AP).
So what did you all do? Did your wife/husband arrive at a certain POE and you wish it had been a different one? And for anyone who's about to have their fiance/e come here, what are you all planning to do?
Thanks all!

Here's my happy dance lol!!! <br>

This is FANTASTIC news!!!!!!! Congratulations to you both!!!

Does anyone know how to go from El Paso, TX to Juarez? Is there a bus?
...From where I live to El Paso, it costs around $400 by air. From where I live to Juarez it costs around $600.
There's a trolley bus! It's cheapo ($12.50): http://www.borderjumper.com/routesAndRates2.asp.

Well everybody, I have very terrible and tragic news. Some peoples lives, at certain points in time, are just a lot better than others. Unfortunately, my life and Diana's are at low points. She has active tuberculosis and will be going on Tuesday to start a 6 month treatment in Juarez. She doesn't even know the bad news yet, all she knows is she is going to Juarez. Her aunt is going to tell her sometime within the next week. I can visit when I can afford to, but other than that, I won't get to be with her until December of 2008. You definitely will not be seeing me on this site a whole lot in the next 6 months.
I'm really sorry to hear this. There are so many things we deal with when going through this whole process, and in the end, it makes us stronger. On a good note, it's 6 months and it'll fly by fast. And she has a curable condition.
And I hope you can visit her as often as you can, at least once before December. I think it might be difficult not to see each other, and even if it is expensive to fly for a short period of time there, seeing each other is so valuable.

HI everyone..while i have been researching through the thread about this topic and im still so confused!
My fiance received his Medical Exam in Ciudad Juarez,Mexico they never gave him any type of copies..all we have are his vaccination records from Mexico of his childhood..
My question is would those records be suitable enough for the Civil Surgeon?
And also in Juarez he never received any vaccinations just the medical exam
What should we do?
Anyone's advice who went through the Juarez Consulate?
The place we went to for my husband's medical exam accepted his vaccination records from Mexico. It helped that we went to a clinic that worked with mostly Spanish speakers so they understood the vaccinations in Spanish.
You can search "Juarez Consulate" in old posts on this site. There's a really long thread with lots of people who have filed K-1's from Mexico and I'm sure they'll have lots of answers.
Hi there,
The Ciudad Juarez thread is located at: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=37896
I would recommend posting your question there.

Hi everyone!
Just wanted to let everyone know that WE ARE IN CDJ NOW...I had my medical interview yesterday (Monday 2nd) and I went to the embassy today (Tuesday 3rd).
We're staying at LOS CEDROS hotel, and we really loved it! it's only a few blocks away from the Consulate, cheap ($550 pesos/day), wireless internet, an awesome hot breakfast buffet, security is pretty tight with a gate at the entrance, staff, and security cameras all over....
anyway, now here's the "juicy" part, the embassy interview:
Wow, good info here. I didn't know that the waiting room had people who don't speak Spanish very well. At least they're not the ones conducting the interviews for our loved ones who mainly speak Spanish.
As for the birth certificate, did your fiancee not have her passport with her? I think that would've been enough to establish US citizenship. I'm a naturalized citizen, so I'll have my fiance hold onto my citizenship certificate and passport.
HI,
yeah well the thing is she does not have a passport and apparently the short version of her birth certificate is not enough proof to establish citizenship. We just got a faxed copy to our hotel room and the overnighted original will get here tomorrow. Hopefully after all this the consular officer will issue the visa!
Stay tuned
I hope all goes smoothly for you two tomorrow. If the birth certificate was the only concern at the interview, it sounds like you guys will get it!
Good luck with everything else. Can't wait to see the pictures.

Hello,
We just wanted to share our experience with the K1 process in Ciudad Juarez since we found this thread very helpful, even more helpful than the advice of the expensive attorney my fiancé hired
I wish we had found this website before hiring them.
Thank you for your review! I've bookmarked this (and the.ronin's review is good too) for future reference. I hadn't heard of any other interviews where, at the end of the day, some people are asked to return the following day because it's getting late. Good luck with everything else in your journey.

I'm sure I am not alone on this, but I send my SO money quite often. I have probably sent money to her at least 10 times in the last year! I use Western Union and it costs a minimum of $10 to send. Anyone know of a cheaper way to do this? I know my SO will be here soon, but I am sure we will send $$ to her mom a few times a year for many, many, many years to come!
I have a HSBC online account (you may have seen those banks in Mexico) and could probably transfer money that way... You could have both your names on the account, electronically send money from your regular account into the HSBC account, and then Diana could withdraw it or use it as a debit card. It's something you could look into.

Thanks - I'll be sure to post it here when I receive NOA2!

Hey, Brian, it seems I'll also be at the consulate in July. Only a couple of months away... I never thought I would be counting the days like this. Let me know when you know the definitive day of your trip to Juarez. Good luck with your NOA2!
Juan Carlos.
I expect to be there in July. VSC has already processed 50% of the March VJ K-1 filers. K-1's have an open appointement time, but July is easier for me. I have already discussed it with my SO. I was in Mexico in January and May. Plus, I took a week off for vacation in March when my SO visited me. And, I plan to go to Mexico to be with my fiance for her interview and then fly home together.
So my wallet and my work schedule both need a break.
Brian
I know what you mean by the needed break... I've been down there 3 times in the past few months, and even though I've enjoyed my time with my guy, it'd be easier on the finances to be spending time together in the same country and state. But I would rather spend the time with him rather than not having the opportunities to see each other, like some of the other people whose fiance/e's live on the other side of the world and it takes 17 hrs plus layovers to see each other. And at least we are both in this together.
I'm not sure when I'll be down at CDJ, but I think it'll be in the early fall or late summer... hopefully sooner than later!

Hi Guys, long time - sorry I have not been around much.
Edgar was rejected in June 2007 because he told them he smoked a joint in Dec 2006 so they told us that we won't be eligible to go back until January 2010 but I have so many questions I need answers to.
This thread has been awfully slow for a while. I myself hope to be in Juarez by July.
While I have no answers per se, your situation would seem to present itself to actually having a hotshot immigration attorney take a look at. While I thoroughly enjoy this forum, I find the information as supportive not primary.
Best of luck with your situation, of all the stories I have read and continue to read on VJ, your story still touches me the most. I respect your strength and devotion to your relationship.
Brian
Janet - I did a search on here and saw that someone named "Esperando enohio" went through the same thing and was getting ready in November 07 (http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=96835). And then they were approved in December. Here is the link: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...p;#entry1425409. Also a "senoritacindy" went through the same thing.

That's incredible! I hope everything will turn out exactly how you deserve - for your fiance to be given the visa.
-
We were wondering if anyone use the consulates email in Juarez ( cdjimmigrantvisas@state.gov ). What types of responses do you get from it and what are you allowed to ask them through there email. Thanks for your support VJ. Chuck and Teresa
Some of the people who went through CDJ used that email, and if you do a search on "cdjimmigrantvisas@state.gov," and they usually respond within 2-4 days.
-
Brian if I recall correctly, you can begin filling out all forms ahead of time. I too did the same. I went down personally with my fiance and filled everything out for him and simply had him sign it. I also organized everything he was taking so that he can easily find what is being asked of him. I did it months in advance so I don't see any problem with that.
I'll be doing that too.
Off topic, how many of you guys think you'll go back to Mexico eventually to live/retire? We're planning to live there after some time here, although he doesn't know yet if he wants to be a US citizen. I know it'd make it easier to go back and forth if he is, and that we'd be limited to the amount of time we live there if he eventually wants to become one, but we're taking everything one step at a time.
-
Speaking of taxes, does anyone know how taxes are done in Mexico (for Mexican citizens)? Do they have a system like ours, and do most people pay earned income tax and get a refund/pay by a certain time (like us, in April)?
-
hey everyone. we got the visa's ! you can do the dance now cutie:) ill add a review in a bit. gotta pack up for our flight tommorow. thanks again everyone.
AWESOME, yay! yay!

Hi, I'm going through the Ciudad Juarez consulate too. My boyfriend is the Mexican citizen.
Regarding "how" to fill out the forms, I would recommend the guides if you haven't had a chance to look at them yet (http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?autocom=custom&page=k1guide). If you click on the examples forms and how they were filled out, and follow them, you'll be fine.
Regarding the photos, you should send in actual photos, not a xeroxed picture. Another member (ucla_cutie26) did that and received an RFE. The following info will help you out (it's in response to a msg I sent to her when I was getting ready to submit my I-129F):
Anyway, now to answer you about the paperwork you have gathered. I think you may have a little too much. Let me tell you what I sent in (back in June 2006 when I submitted my paperwork). I am looking at my cover letter with the I-129F I submitted. Don’t forget to included a cover letter that states everything you are sending in. I sent:
• Payment of $170
• Form I-129F
• I-129F Supplement, it was an explanation of meeting in person since my answer did not fit in the I-129F form.
• Copy of my birth certificate
• Letters of intent to marry (from myself and my then fiancé)
• G-325A and passport pics for myself
• G-325A and passport pics for my fiancé
• For proof of having met in person/proof of ongoing relationship I lumped together and sent:
o Copies of airline boarding passes (from 4 different trips I made to Guadalajara to visit my fiancé, and 1 of those trips didn’t fall into the category of the 2 previous years before filing the petition.)
o Copies of photos (I included copies of 6 pictures. Its important to note though that I included copies of my photo album and they were not original pictures, I guess they didn’t like this, SO SEND IN ORIGINAL PICS)
o Copies of passport stamps (send in the identification page and only send in the pages of your passport that actually have stamps on them, not all of the pages.)
o Copies of emails (I sent in 6 emails)
o Copies of letters received in the mail from my fiancé (I sent in 3 letters from my fiancé, but they each were 2 pages long, which meant 6 pages)
This is what I sent them the first time around and I received an RFE (request for evidence). I think that the reason I received this RFE is for SENDING IN TOO MUCH. In the RFE, you get it states what was wrong with your petition and what they want you to send in.
They asked me to send them, this is directly from the RFE I got,
1) “Please submit film-dated photographs of the petitioner and the beneficiary together.”
2) They asked me also to send them “evidence of meeting the beneficiary in person within the two-year period preceding the filing of the petition. The primary evidence may include copies of passport pages that show the identification page and admission stamps. The secondary evidence may be airline tickets stubs and receipts (that indicate month, day and year),ATM and credit card transactions, flight itinerary on airline/travel agency letterhead. The following does not constitute evidence of meeting: disc, videos, emails, letters, phone bills, and greeting cards.
When I submitted my response to the RFE, I sent in:
• only copies of the pages with stamps on them from my passport,
• the invoices from t he travel agency where I bought my airline tickets,
• copy of boarding passes,
• bus tickets from the places we visited in Guadalajara (they had the dates on them)
• actual pictures from the visits
• ticket stubs to a soccer game we went too, had the date on them
• ticket stubs from a movie we went to watch, also had the date on them
• I also included a letter from my mom stating I have a fiancé in Jalisco and she has met him and that I met him while visiting family members from my mom’s side of the family
This time around after I answered the RFE, we got our I-129F approved and my Juan was headed to Juarez.
So, as you can see the letters, emails I sent in (and the phone records you are thinking of sending in) may in fact be considered extra material for them (and may cause you to get an RFE as I did). I like everything you have on your list except for the letters and phone records. Definitely keep the ATM receipts though because that’s good proof you were there. Also keep the hotel, bus receipts if they have dates on them.
AND LASTLY... you should read as many of the posts in the Ciudad Juarez thread as you can, because it's got lots of very useful info: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=37896

Hi all. We just got back. An update on how it went today when we picked up the results. We went back today so they can take a look at the tb shot they gave my fiance's daughter on Monday. It came out negative so they had us go straight to room 3 today so the nurse can sign off as negative. We were then sent to the reception desk to pick up the xray packet for my fiance and the smaller packet for her daughter. I kept insisting that they need to fill out the vaccination form that was on each result packet with the shots that my fiancee and her daughter already had taken prior. They kept telling me that they dont do that since its a K1 and shots arent required. After asking another nurse and she told me the same I gave up. I know they were wrong because on one section of the form it says " written records" and on the other it says "vaccination given by panelist" wich is the doctors there. So I guess we will have to take the shots in the U.S for the AOS stage. Anyhow... tommorows the big day. I hope nothing goes wrong since we have everything in order. Well wish us luck everyone. I'll be back tommorow evening to post the good news. Were staying positive.
Sanfranguy, everything sounds good! I was hoping that when my fiance has his medical exam, that he would've already had any needed vaccinations so that we don't have to pay the extra money at the adjustment of status stage. But based on what I've read about your (and others') experience, I guess it's easier to just not deal with the hassle and just do it at the adjustment of status time.
Greatgate - I hope everything turns out well for her and that she doesn't need to take any type of medication and have this process slowed down.
Everyone else - tax season is almost over! Just out of curiosity, does anyone know how taxes are done in Mexico (for Mexican citizens)? Do they have a system like ours, and do most people pay earned income tax and get a refund/pay by a certain time (like us, in April)?

Ok, so it looks like, from what I am understanding, she needs to do a sputum test (per Medline Plus: "A sputum sample is obtained by coughing deeply and expelling the material that comes from the lungs into a sterile cup. The sample is taken to a labarotory and placed in a medium under conditions that allow the organisms to grow. A positive culture may identify disease-producing organisms that may help diagnose bronchitis, tuberculosis, a lung abscess, or pneumonia") so they can check samples of her phlegm.
She has to do it at 6:30 in the morning on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, and can't do it after she's brushed her teeth, has to be before. She can find out the results at 10 am after her third sample (Wednesday). To get her results, wait an average of 10 weeks after she's done an x-ray that costs 40000 pesos.
I don't understand the last part... looks like... "if you were assigned to this study and it isn't complete, the papers that'll be send to the American Consulate will be incomplete?"
I did a Google search for "testing TB consulate" to see what happens with this, and I found this info from a UK website for student visas. The process is probably pretty similar: http://www.cf.ac.uk/for/prospective/inter/...tion/index.html and here's what it says for UK applicants:
"You will need to book an appointment with the IOM clinic to arrange for your TB test. When you attend your appointment, you will be given a chest X-ray. (Pregnant women will be given an optional mouth swabs or a sputum smear test). If you are found to have signs of tuberculosis on your chest X-ray, you will need to have mouth swabs or sputum smear tests at the clinic (over 3 consecutive days).
"If found to be free of infectious TB, you will get a TB health certificate valid for six months from the date of issue. This should be submitted to Visa Handling Services with your visa application. If issued with a visa, you must bring your TB health certificate with you when you travel to the UK.
"If you are found to be suffering from infectious TB, you will be asked to seek further treatment and will not normally be allowed to apply for a visa until after you have been successfully treated and are certified free of infection."
And here's a little more info: http://www.patient.co.uk/showdoc/23069042/
If this is the case with your fiancee, and she has an active infection, it will just slow things down for a few more months. Hopefully, this won't be the case.

Same for me too - I lived overseas for 3 yrs (but I was a kid) so that's 3 of us who haven't gotten our NOA2 yet and maybe it's related to that...
