  1. Glad your asking the questions nm123. I hope to be in Juarez with my SO in late August. I have not looked at the I-134, but I thought it did not require all the hoopla of bank accounts and such, if your taxable income was well over the poverty line.

I had just planned to show my tax transcripts for like three years and my current tax return, and maybe a letter from my accountant since I am self-employed.

    Brian

    Hey Brian,

So no one responded... but I did contact KitKat, who used to be an active member on here (ucla_girl & lucy - by the way, her hubby just got his green card!). And based on her recommendation, tax transcripts are fine, along with a letter from my employer and paystubs. I decided to also just add in my car value (since I just paid it off a few months ago) and my IRA info, even though neither of these things are necessary since I'm over 125% of the poverty limit.

And you know, we might be in CDJ at the same time, considering you're going through VSC! I am dreading the weather, but I think I will just bring a book, some water, some snacks, and an umbrella...

  2. Sometimes people have submitted the 1.5" x 2" photos and didn't receive an RFE, and some people did and were asked to submit the "right" size. Even though the requirements ask for 2" x 2" I submitted the ones my boyfriend had (like your boyfriend's) and received my NOA2 without an RFE. We're also going through the Ciudad Juarez consulate. Also, if you haven't had a chance to see it yet, here is the CDJ thread with lots of helpful info: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=37896

You may be risking losing a few weeks by submitting the 1.5" x 2" photos, so it's always a good idea to get the 2"x2" photos so everything will run smoothly. CSC and VSC work in weird ways...

  3. Hi everyone,

I've received my NOA2 so I'm getting my documents ready for my fiance's visa interview. I'm a naturalized citizen and was wondering about those of you who are also naturalized. I'm going to have my fiance hold on to my citizenship certificate, a copy of all the pages of my passport, and a copy of my birth certificate (it's the short version and a long version isn't available). If you were also naturalized, did you present a certified copy of your birth certificate?

Also, does the certified opy of the birth certificate need to be less than 6 months old?

    Thanks!

    nm

Hi! I'm also a naturalized citizen.

I sent a copy of my naturalization certificate, and a copy of my passport. That's it. I also went to the interview and I had my passport and that was it. I did NOT, repeat NOT, bring my naturalization paper. If you lose it, it takes over a year to get a new one. There's no way that I would send that through the mail or DHL or anything else...

I didn't bother with my birth certificate, as it was in German with my birth name on it. My name was changed when I was adopted and brought to the States. Too much work. This was not an issue in any way.

The copy of your passport and/or naturalization certificate should I be enough. The American Embassy in your fiance's country couldn't possibly really expect you to send originals of those two items to your fiance! That would be craziness! The papers are too valuable.

    Saludos, Shannon

Thanks Shannon! This is very helpful.

  4. Oh MY!! i just got my NOA2 today by mail!!! the weird thing is that it doesnt show up online on the USCIS website??!!! Is there somthing wrong with it? Im just glad i have the hardcopy  So whats next guys and how long more till i get those packets??!!

Yay!! I received my NOA2 on June 24 via email, and today received the hardcopy. The USCIS site showed the status change. So I guess sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt... but at least you got it! Now I hope the other January peeps will get theirs PLEASE before the end of June!

  5. Is it alright to present a certified copy of the petitioner's birth certificate at the K1 interview that is older than 6 months? Is there some type of requirement that the certificate be less than 6 months from the date of issue, or does it depend on the consulate, or does it not matter?

It doesn't matter. Generally, a birth certificate is a permanent record of vital statistics. As such the original is issued at birth and never changes. There are exceptions to do with legal adoptions but a birth certificate doesn't expire.

The certified copy I submitted was obtained more than ten years prior.

Thanks pushbrk! You are always very helpful.

  7. I'm now preparing the necessary documents for my fiance when he has his interview. Right now, I just have a couple of questions about the I-134. I already have my letter from my employer, 3 yrs of tax transcripts (will also have the past 3 yrs 1040s and W2s, and recent pay stubs JUST IN CASE), and am over 125% of the poverty line.

Regarding this on the instructions: "Statement from an officer of the bank or other financial institutions where you have deposits, identifying the following details regarding your account: 1. Date account opened;2. Total amount deposited for the past year;3. Present balance." - I have 3 bank accounts where I opened 1 of them a year and a half ago and use regularly, where 1 was used regularly for 6 yrs until I opened the one I just mentioned, and the 3rd one is online and acts as a savings account. Do I need to give details on all 3, or is it alright if I just give details on the 1 that I use regularly?

Or is it alright if I just answer Question 7 with the salary I earn and leave the rest of Question 7 blank since I make over 125% of the poverty line?

Since you all went through CDJ and the I-134 was typically used even though it isn't required there, I wanted to see what you thought about this. I already asked this same question in the general K1 forum, but wanted to see what you guys did.

    Thanks!

  9. I got my NOA2 email notice! I was at work & was about to leave for the night...then I saw that I had a text message & thought "oh i wish people would stop texting me." & saw the word "CRIS" followed by a bunch of words....I was literally jumping for joy & my co-worker thought i was crazy...hey I was living up to the rumors. ;)

WEEEEE! One step closer to my honey bunny being here. :)

Was kinda paranoid because we hadn't sent any "letter of intent" documents since I forgot about them. I guess the evidence in the envelope was enough to let us get on to stage 2! :D:D:D:D:D:D

DAMN my fiance being asleep right now lol

    Wow that's great!!!!!!!!

  10. This is my first post to this thread, but thought I would announce that we received the K1 today! Almost 6 months to the day from receiving the NOA1.

The reason there is a month between Packet 3 Received and the Interview is because my fiancee had put in a notice to quit her job, and we took our time preparing the forms. She also made three separate bus trips from Torreon to Juarez for the medical exam, TB exam for child and finally the interview (She preferred to do this rather than stay in Juarez). That alone took over a week.

I will have her leave a review of the consulate. She said the interview went very quick and her interviewer was very friendly, but she had to wait another 5 hours just to get the visa.

We didn’t encounter a single problem through the entire process. The information we received from this site was extremely helpful, so thanks all.

That is AWESOME! When you have time, please let us know your review.

And OMG... I didn't realize you received Packet 3 so soon after receiving your NOA2!!!!!!!!!! I really gotta get my documents ready for sure now...

  11. Guess what! I got my NOA2! Wooh. I didn't think I'd get this excited... I was looking at Igor's list last night and thinking how sad it was that some of the other January folk hadn't been to VJ for a few months, so who knew if they had been approved or not and it wasn't helping the rest of us who were waiting! Now I really hope the rest of the January peeps get theirs too!!!!!!!!!!! So even if you're a naturalized citizen and your fiance/e has a common name, there is hope!!!

  12. At this time we're ready to go to the interview, we are finalizing the last details of the documentation, but I have some doubts, I hope someone can help me.

1 .- on the format DS 156 and complement it. For my fiancee that is the case in question 14 says National Identification Number, which means? that number refers to? to the voter credential? or to which?

2 .- On the same format, I have a son 12 years to which I mention in this format in question 34. Names and relationships of person traveling with you ... Only to be mentioned in this part? or we need to carry another format exclusively to my son?

I have further questions regarding the birth certificate, anyone of you has processed visa K2 for their children, I can tell if someone seeking CURP child? Someone has had any problem with the number of minutes CRIP their children Mexicans?

    I hope I can help ...

my fiance and I are close to reaching the final of the K1 visa process and we really want to get everything in order and without doubt.

    1) Some countries issue a national ID card, the number will be on that card. Mexico does issue national ID cards.

    EX:

Mexico's government has been offering national ID cards to their citizens around the world for 130 years. Last year, the Mexican government started issuing higher security national identity cards through their consulate offices in the United States. The Matricula Consular de Alta Seguridad is a credit card size document that identifies a person as a national of Mexico....
    http://www.visalaw.com/03mar3/10mar303.html

    2) If son is coming to the USA (K-2) then another DS-156 is needed for your son. (2 visas are being applied for)

In the Ciudad Juarez thread, everyone always left the National Identification Number section blank. They did not type in the CURP number.

  13. Well- I'm attempting to get the forms together because I'm going to visit my fiance in two weeks, and I want to be able to fill out the forms together so that he knows just exactly what is going on. But first I have to try and figure just exactly what's going on... ahhh. I hope you get your NOA2 soon nm123, I've been seeing lots of Jan/Feb approvals from CSC... good luck to you!!!

    Caity

Oh I know what you mean! We covered the potential interview questions and went over the whole I-129F petition the last time I saw my guy.

    And thanks!

Ah potential interview questions... Yes- I've been quizzing my fiance on random information about myself. Now, whenever he forgets something stupid, he likes to remind me that he knows I was born at St. Michael's hospital and he knows all of my family's names and whatnot- so I'm really hoping that the person at the consulate is interested in knowing if my fiance knows what hospital I was born at. That'll prove that we're really in love, right?

Who knows what they may end up asking, but that's cute! Sometimes I'll actually forget an important piece of information/date, and he'll correct me. He's still trying to get my family member's names down though, 'cause they're a little different from Spanish-influenced names.

  15. Hey there everyone! Well let's hope this next week brings packet 3's to those waiting and NOA2's for those of us still waiting for those too! My timeline on here says anywhere between June 19-July 4th sooooo here's hoping and praying we DO hear something by then!

Gareth and I had a rough day yesterday just both of us so irritated with this whole process and the waiting. We have not seen one another in over a year now :( Of course we made up and realized we should not try talking when we are both so irritated with everything haha. Today was nicer and I am just missing him like CRAZY.

I am excited to start new job as that shall help take my mind off it a little bit! No idea when I start but should be by July I would think! Hoping to find out pay and such this week eeeeeeeee so exciting!

I looked at my timeline too, and my range starts with June 25 - so here's hoping that those of us waiting get ours soon. And I totally know what you mean about the irritation of waiting, and it really is easier to just not talk to each other for a little bit when you're both feeling upset with the situation. It really does suck sometimes, but... at least this is the only time we have to be apart, and in the future when we're really aggravated, we have to think about how much we wanted to be together during this time (!!).

  16. Hello folks,

I'm trying to make a complete list of all the forms and whatnot my fiance will need to bring to his interview- and I'm wondering if the DS-230 is required. It's for an immigrant visa, but somebody told me that it was needed for the fiance visa. Is this true?

I'm so glad the Ciudad Juarez website is so clear...

    Thanks everyone!

    Caity

    Hey Caity,

It's not true for Ciudad Juarez. I'm glad the CDJ website is clear, too! And glad to know this thread exists because CDJ's requirements are a little bit different with some of the other consulates. Btw, if you haven't checked it recently, it has changed. I had bookmarked the Fiance Packet section, and the link didn't exist anymore, so now it's here:

    http://ciudadjuarez.usconsulate.gov/immigr...visa-forms.html

And says this is what we need:

    Fiancée Packet

    * Fee Information, form CDJ 446

    * Instructions, form CDJ 400

    * Statement of Intent to Marry, form CDJ 402

    * Form DS-156K

    * Form CDJ 430

    * Medical Examination Instructions, form Mexwide 202 K

    * Public Charge Information, form OF-167

But I wish that it was more ...consistent down there at CDJ. If you haven't yet, take a look at this thread where they had to prove the petitioner was a US citizen even though that was already proven when the I-129F application was approved: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=134178

I haven't gotten my list of documents yet, because I haven't received NOA2 yet... it's a little nerve-wracking, and I think I'd be even more stressed if I started gathering all the documents now.

  17. Of course... the day I choose to call- their servers are "down" and they are unable to process transcripts for me. grrr

Hey caityrose, I called them on Friday or Saturday night and just got a bunch of them in the mail today. I think I hit a few too many buttons, because I ended up getting 6 or 7 envelopes of transcripts and something else (I haven't gotten a chance to look at them yet), but anyway, just wanted to let you know that when you finally get through, it'll only take a few days for them to arrive.

So- did you actually get through and talk to a real person? Or did you somehow request them without talking to somebody?? Just wondering :)

It was an automated service. It's pretty easy and at a certain prompt, you punch in your SSN, and at another prompt, you punch in the number of your street address (like 23 Random Road, you punch "23"), and then you punch in the tax year and it asks if you want a tax transcript and/or some other form. I ended up hitting both options, whatever they were (transcript + __other form__), and then it asks if you want another year, hit that. Have you tried it out again?

  18. Sanfranguy,

We will share the same wedding date cause our big, religious wedding in Jalisco is set for that date also (Aug. 23rd). I'm getting so nervous already!!!!!

Hello to everyone else. I've been very busy with all the wedding stuff so I don't connect too much. Not to mention that my computer is still broken. It sucks that this site is blocked at work, so I can't logon from there. Right now I'm using my sister's computer.

That's exciting! I saw on a Puerto Vallarta wedding site that non-Mexican citizens have to be in Mexico for 4 days before their wedding. Did you hear anything like that with your Jalisco wedding?

I didn't hear anything about having to be there 4 days before the wedding. Maybe that applies to those who are having a civil wedding in Mexico, we are having the religious wedding there since we already had the civil ceremony in Vegas. Either way, I will be in Jalisco 4 weeks before our wedding and my husband will be there 7 weeks before the wedding.

Ah, you might be right. We're going to have our civil wedding here and a religious one in Mexico. You may be right about it though. Either way, I'm sure it'll be a beautiful wedding!

  19. hi all!

i have a question for you guys!

i m stil wating for NOA2 and feel very depressed :( i don't understand what take them so long...

do you think that the fact that I studied in China for a year is a problem???and the fact that i got my 6months tourist visa for the US in Beijing???

    :help:

I have no idea but could be! I am currently stuck in security so they say and I filed week before you. I lived overseas due to the fact I was married to a guy in the air force but am now divorced.....so maybe they have to wait for security checks to come back from each place we lived? No idea.....Good luck and hope we both get NOA2 SOON!!!

Same for me too - I lived overseas for 3 yrs (but I was a kid) so that's 3 of us who haven't gotten our NOA2 yet and maybe it's related to that...

So I have a question did you put you have been a US citizen the whole time then? I did. Also did you put you had been a resident of US the whole time? I also did since the only reason I lived overseas was with military spouse and we were always told no matter what we were still Michigan residents no matter where we lived on military orders.....really hoping if this is the hold up it won't take toomuch longer!!!

Well, I am a naturalized citizen, so I put that. And for the part about living outside of the US for more than 1 yr, I put the overseas address. I'm thinking maybe another reason why mine is taking awhile is because my guy's last name is common. It's a little frustrating at times, but there isn't anything we can do until it's past the 6 month mark... and even then, contacting a representative won't always do any good... but we'll all be fine! We talk about how we'll handle it if they end up taking forever or even denying a visa, so no matter what, we will be together. I would just like to have it played out like it did in my mind - quickly!
