Its 2 years now. NVC has recently updated their site with increased validity.

Its worth emailing MTL and confirm though. People in IR1/CR1 threads have emailed MTL and they confirmed its 2 years.

Just wanted to give you guys a quick update on my progress: I got the notification of my rescheduled interview on Jul 6th which was a short email with no attachments. on Jul 14th I received another confirmation with more details regarding the documents needed, fees, ... but still no attachments. last week I took new photos and a new medical exam. apparently the medical exam results will be directly emailed to the office.

Congratulations!! Don't worry on variants .. Both vaccination rate and % of population are relatively higher in Canada and as a country we are progressing well on this front. Don't think interviews will get impacted 🤞

Hi guys, no, we haven't received a rescheduled interview yet. I just checked the emails. I will let you know if we hear anything.

A recent response from MTL post:   Good Afternoon, Thank you for contacting us. Presidential Proclamations 10014 and 10052 (PP10014 and PP10052) suspends visa issuance for some immigrant visa types. Mission-critical immigrant visa categories include applicants who may be eligible for an exception under presidential proclamation PP10014 such as: IR/CR1, IR/CR2, IR/IH-3, IR/IH-4, SQ, SI, certain medical professionals, and certain aliens providing temporary labor or services essential to the United States food supply chain, as well as cases involving an applicant who may age out of his or her visa category.   PP10014 is currently set to expire on March 31, 2021. We will be able to resume issuing such cases when it expires. I sent an email to Montreal embassy to follow up on my case and they replied on Feb 17:
 
"According to our records, this case is still at the National Visa Center (NVC). Please note that the US Consulate is not currently processing E2 visa applications as they are not considered mission-critical at this time. Presidential Proclamation 10014 (PP 10014) suspends visa issuance for some immigrant visa types. Mission-critical immigrant visa categories include applicants who may be eligible for an exception under presidential proclamation PP10014 , such as: IR/CR1, IR/CR2, IR/IH-3, IR/IH-4, SQ, SI, certain medical professionals, and certain aliens providing temporary labor or services essential to the United States food supply chain, as well as cases involving an applicant who may age out of his or her visa category.   
  As this case is still at the National Visa Center (NVC), you will need to contact the NVC for any updates on your case and next steps in processing. The NVC contact details are available here https://nvc.state.gov/ask. "  

I reached out to Montreal Consulate last week, they have replied to day - thought of sharing that with you guys. 
 
They have very categorically said, US Consulate isn't processing any EB1 case now, as these aren't mission critical. US Consulate is focusing on certain mission-critical immigrant visa categories, including some family related visas, certain medical professionals, and certain aliens providing temporary labor or services essential to the United States food supply chain, as well as cases involving an applicant who may age out of his or her visa category. And in-effect Presidential Proclamation has impacted issuance of certain visa types.  
 
Hopefully, things will start moving forward soon as we embark on the month December!
 
 

yeah, mine got cancelled in March (EB2) and still no updates. I tried to re-schedule myself (on the portal), but apparently there is still no openings available. probably we'll have to send them an email asking for updates on our cases
