No, there isn't. Those guys outside the embassy are hustlers and aren't affiliated with the embassy. Don't let them convince you to "help review or arrange " your documents.

Perfect, what do you with your phone?  How do you get an Uber back to the hotel?

  2. Does anyone know if you have to pay a fee to get through the gate to get into the Embassy for the interview for Lagos Nigeria Embassy?  I'm being told it's around $280.00.  Is that true?  It is a Nigerian fee to go through the gate.

    Help!?!?

    Thank you so much.

Hello house I need your contribution please.. my wife filed cr1 since 2019 and we got married in May 2019, uptil now still waiting for my interview date. The last update they sent to me was on the 7th of December 2021. It said "documentary qualified" they sent me email and said my documents have been approved that I should wait for my interview date.. I have been waiting for my interview date since then..

At this point what should I do ?

    Can anyone help me out

We are in the same boat as you.  NVC approved us December 5, 2020 and we are still waiting for an interview. Just out of curiosity when you look at your NVC website account what does this say?  Your case is currently at NVC or did it move pending Embassy interview??

  4. Hi,

I was told to contact my Senator regarding status for my CR-1 in Nigeria.  Yes, I am aware of the length of time, but an immigration lawyer on Instagram said it won't hurt.  They came back stating the same for everyone, COVID, etc. and I have to wait....BUT when my file goes to the Embassy they said they will write a letter and put it in my husband's file, if I want.

Is this a good thing or a bad thing?  I read mixed messages!  I don't want to hinder my case at all!  I really just wanted to know the reasons other than COVID, if any.  I'm like everyone else getting impatient.  UGH!

    Thoughts???

Thank you for your help ahead and NO I'm not trying to jump any line or get ahead faster, just wanted to hear from someone other than the NVC regarding status.

Am in the same boat as you. Completed NVC stage. Google "us embassy packet 4".

Grab a pdf from any embassy site, ideally from the embassy that you will interview at, understand what you will need to do to prepare for the interview.

Get any documents that can put together ahead of time. Medical ahead getting an appointment is a no no, it will likely expire.

After that all you can do is wait. No manual needed cos this is the last step.

We have not idea how much longer, from one or two timelines, I see some people who completed NVC in December already interviewed.

Emailing them will not hurt, not sure if it helps either but you will get a generic response

Thank you! I feel your pain as well. Thank you for the information to have him study.

  6. Has anyone had any luck emailing NVC to see status of interview (CR-1)?  I'm waiting for Nigeria and have been reading a lot about how long the backlogs are.  By emailing them will it hurt me or it does not matter?

I also am reading and reading on both VisaJourney and on NVC to see dates?  Does anyone know timing of interviews?  Meaning are they on September 2020 still for CR-1?

I wish there was a "manual" to help you go though this terrible process!

    Thank you for any help!

Looks like somebody is shopping... 👻

I'll jump in if that is okay?  My husband is in Lagos, Nigeria.  We are qualified at NVC since December 2020.  We are CR-1 waiting for interview.  He has had severe pain in his eye and went to a doctor and they said it could be glaucoma.  Now they are saying it might be a brain aneurysm.  Would that be qualifying enough?  I'm not trying to "jump" ahead, but I really need him seen here and to be with me so I can take care of him.

DS-5540 is not needed at this time. And you can scan your i-864 and other tax documents and send to him and he prints out and take for his interview. Only original documents of beneficiary and your marriage certificate is required. Petitioner documents can be scanned copies.

    Thank you!

  9. I am filling out the affidavit of support I-864 I am the sponsor (wife) and the DS-5540 Public Charge Questionnaire. My husband is in Nigeria. I will wet sign, he will wet sign and scan it to me. I have a letter from work for employment and health insurance. I will submit it to the NVC. Does my husband need all the originals? If so does anyone know a ruff estimate of the cost for a letters to be sent to Nigeria? Or is there another way to do this. I have an idea but I won't type it. Any suggestions?

    Thank you.
