  1. I actually went to an into-pass appointment today and the guy was very nice. He told me that my file first went from the officer to the supervisor and the supervisor realized that the officer made a mistake (I can safely assume what it was) and so he sent it back to the officer and then the paperwork went back to the supervisor (last Friday). Now it will take probably 8 more weeks... At least I know what's going on!

I know who my senator is :)) My husband actually have had contact with her via work. I don't know maybe it is worth to make that call to the senator to speed things up!

  2. Hi, Thank you.

so they have to apply for themselves from KUWAIT . ok now what type of VISA they will get ? Visitor visa or Immigrant Visa?

I found this in their website .

    Parent of a U.S. Citizen

A U.S. citizen may petition for his/her foreign national parent to obtain legal permanent residence in the United States. An immigrant visa (IR-5) must be obtained prior to arrival in the United States in order to enter as a legal permanent resident.

So. when they come here to USA i can apply for them to obtain a GC? is that correct?

but i think, first they need to have an Immigrant Visas.

    am i missing something??

    Thanks alot.

  3. Prefer to send a personal check for $680.00, that way you have a canceled check for proof you sent in your application.

Just one check, maybe some of us have noticed, have to pay the USCIS in advance with no guarantee we will be granted US citizenship. No refunds either.

  6. Hi.

If you really worried about this issue. and u not sure if the Letter was really sent to you, then it might got lost or something happend. Just in case and for peace of mind. Call USCIS on their number. and ask the Customer service to speak to 2nd Officer. if they try to offer help dont listen to them insist that u want to speak to 2nd officer he/she has better access to ur case more than them. and from there u will know if the Bio. letter was sent or not yet.

    Keep us Updated.

  7. Thank you for your help!!

I called today and the 1st tier officer was telling me the same blah blah I knew... she told me there was no way to know if they did receive my letter to change the oath ceremony and I had to insist 3 times to speak to a second tier officer.... I think she was offended.

In any case I got transferred and the 2nd tier officer said I was in line to be rescheduled, the action was started yeterday ( I sent my letter in on Feb 14th) and that i should hear something in the next 2 weeks, if not I should call back.

    thanks once again!

Yooo Hooo , good for you to insist to talk to 2nd officer. Now, from now on keep checking ur mail box or chase the mail man. lol

  8. I thought about the same thing. Thanks for the input.

Now the next thing I would like to know is, what if i am outside the USA and the bio letter comes in and gives me a date when I am still on vacation overseas? There is nobody we trust around here to open our mail so we'll have to wait until we come back. Now what if that letter says my biometrics were a couple days before we got back?!

And another thing. Can I go to any other office that does fingerprinting on walk in basis as soon as I get my bio appt letter?

    Hi,

You may be able to have ur bio. done by wake-in, but there's 2 things. 1- to have ur Biometrics letter with you. 2- to know if ur USCIS office accept's walk-in, but still you can go there and try. you can explain to them your situation, they might take u.

  9. Hello everybody,

After a very long difficult time my divorce is final. My spouse was a USC.

I want to apply for naturalization and be able to travel to see my home country while the process is pending. I have a few questions:

    - I am a permanent resident since may 2006; at that time I was a conditional resident, conditions have been lifted in October 2008.

    QUESTION:

    - what date is the date since when you consider the 5 years period since becoming a permanent resident, in order to apply for naturalization? The date the conditional residency begin OR after the lifting of conditions?

    - I would like to travel back to Europe to visit my family while in the process of naturalization; also, following my divorce, I am in the process of having my name changed to my maiden name.

    QUESTIONS:

    - do I need to change my green card to my current name while waiting for the naturalization process to complete its course?

    - can I have a green card under a name and a nationality passport under another name while traveling in and out of the USA? Of course having all of the related documents to prove my identity and the changes to the name

    - do I have to have my green card changes to the new name prior to applying for naturalization or can I just add the divorce decree which specifies the name change

DO YOU HAVE AN IDEA OF HOE LONG IT TAKES FROM START TO ACTUALLY APPLYING AND GETTING A US PASSPORT?

I would apply to the Phoenix center.

And .. any other thoughts / ideas are very welcome!!

    Thank you

    Hi.

1st Question:- the clock start counting the time you become a LPR. (since may 2006) (The 2 Years Card) So the 2 Years Card its counted. .. Now if going thru Divorce, then you have to apply on a 5 Year rule. count from the date you become a LPR. 5 Years but minus 90 Days.

2nd Question:- About ur changing ur name. i would wait till you file for ur Citizenship, You can do it during the Interview. AND (it's Free) lol. better than to pay for it.

3rd Question:- ABOUT ((can I have a green card under a name and a nationality passport under another name )) I am not sure what you meant here, But when you become a U.S. Citizen, you are no longer a PR. you will be a U.S. Citizen and ur Green Card will be taking away from you in the Oath Ceremony. and you will be handled a Certificate of naturalization, states you now a U.S. Citizen.

About ((do I have to have my green card changes to the new name prior to applying for naturalization )) I am not sure about this 1. You wait for better answer. But if you applying for U.S. Citizenship. you have to send a copy of ur Green Card when you send in ur application. and i dont think it will look right, your application have name different than ur Green Card. (Please Dont take my word on this 1 wait for better answer) But if YES you need to change it, then you need first to apply for Green card replacement FORM(I-90, Application to Replace Permanent Residence Card:)..

NOW. ABout how long it will take from the start until the end. No one can answer this question at all. it depends at ur local office, and other issues. one of them (Refuse for missing papers, Name Check, your local office if its busy, Delys, ect.) but usually you look for 3 to 4 months. and again without the Oath Ceremony. maybe it will take you time to receive ur Oath Letter, and ur passport as well.

    Wish you the best.

    Plwase wait for better answer.

  10. thanks. I will try calling first... there are no infopass appointments for 2 weeks!!

Does anyone have any experience with how long it took them to hear back?

Hi, one more thing. Please. when u call USCIS. Tell them u would like to speak with 2nd Officer. because if u listen to this people who works for Customer service. then. u will not get a clear answer or help from them. 2nd Officers always have access to ur case more than Customer serivce.

Hope to hear good news about ur Case.

  11. I wanted to go in before I leaved the states and find out where my Oath letter is at. I changed my address online, and with USPS so if they sent it 2 days ago it's now in a forward so I won't get it for 7-10 days in Canada. That being said I wanted to know if they sent it out or now in case it's a short notice or something and I miss it. I checked online and there are no infopass appointments until after I leave. Is there any way to walk in? I am going to call the 1800 number but in my experience and everyone else's they have been completely and utterly useless, and we'd get better information on immigration by calling the Taco Bell feedback line.

Can I walk-in to the infopass office? Any other ideas? I don't want to be a spazz but I have a feeling this is going to get messy if I don't get some kind of confirmation.

Hi, Why not . you can try it. tell them u leaving the country and u would like to get some information.

  12. FYI - IN THE DECEMBER THREAD, SOMEONE (KWELI) ASKED HER IO IF SHE WAS RIGHT IN DISCLOSING HER TRAFFIC TICKETS, THE IO'S RESPONSE.... "WE DONT CARE ABOUT TRAFFIC TICKETS". I REST MY CASE!!!

So they dont care about traffic ticket even if its over a $500?? i spoke with one who got a ticket wich it worth a $800 . so he should not to disclose it? it's clear on the Instuction. when it says unless $500..

    Well Well Well.
