    transferred

Good topic. How does one's case transferred from Moscow embassy to any other.?

    1. Do I have to send a "Public inquiry" to NVC?

If yes, can someone share a good sample of the inquiry?

    2. Transfered automatically?

    3. How is the transfer destination country is determined? If alien fiancee was born in Kazakhstan, is she eligible only for transfer to Kaz? Or there is other way to determine that?

My (actually, my friend's) case: K-1. Just received NOA-2 on 9.25.21 ( case was sent to NVC).

  2. I am US Citizen, over 21, parents married before I was 18. I live in US, parents are abroad. I want to bring them to the USA and obtain Green Cards for them. My main concern is that I can not grasp the whole process from initial I-130 application to GC receipt.

    Yes, I read the Guide:

    BUT I still have questions:

    1. I fill out separate I-130 for each parent?

    2. After I-130 went to NVC, what do I fill out if anything and WHEN?

    3. On what stage there is an "approval" of petition?

    4. Does NVC then forward my petition to local embassy for interview scheduling?

    5. When do I file I-485 (at the NVC stage, when NVC approved, after they got visa, after they arrive to USA)?

    6. With I-485 I file I-864, I-944, I-765, I-131 along with supporting documents?

    7. Do I need to fill out the I-944 in this case and in case if my income is above 125% poverty guidelines.

    8. After and if embassy issues a visa to a parent, how long do they have to arrive to USA?

    9. In case if I file separate I-130 petitions for parents do I count them in I-864 Part 5 as dependents (or in any other form)? If yes, when they become a dependent, after I-130 approved, after I-485 approved or else)?

    10. Separate from parent questions: My sibling is also abroad, over 21. I want to file a petition for him also. Same process as for parents (just a different priority date)?

It is a handful of questions, but I was not able to find a comprehensive guide for this process and it was not so easy to connect the dots.

  3. I registered my fiancee for the interview. Now, the embassy website advises to send docs over email for pre-screening. Did you guys sent any docs? If yes, what did you include? Just the passport, certificate of birth and registration form or you also sent the I-134, employment letters, etc?? Thank you!

When I schedule interview on embassy site it asks me for "priority date" what is this date?? Date of intended travel or intended interview? There is ZERO explanation anywhere on their site as to what this date is?😞😞 @DaveAndAnastasia @GarrettB

I will quote myself here. For future readers of this forum: The "priority date" in DS-160 form is your NOA-1 date.

  5. Dave, @DaveAndAnastasia , @GarrettB and others who went thru Moscow embassy:

So my case went from transit to "ready". Does that mean I can send ds160, pay visa fee, schedule medicals? I recall something re 2nd "ready" status. I am in slight panic now, because I do not know what to do. 😵

Some people say wait for packet 3, some say they never got packet 3. I am lost. The packet 3 as I once understood from @Greenbaum message is simply links to Moscow embassy website. So is there PACKET 3?? Thanks!

    After getting an interview date.

Can I start scheduling medical before I have an interview date? Technically we have Case number MOS2020... ? Or we need something else.

Another minor thing. When filling out the DS 160 form. it asks for Case #, is that a USCIS WAC... number or the MOS... number? Thank you for your time and attention.

Did you read the Embassy Review/Embassy Information for Moscow?  Links atop any VJ page.

I did. The embassy information page is of help for some questions. However, for some questions it is confusing. Here is an example (see photos). One gets MOS case number as soon as the NVC assigns it, the "Embassy Information for Moscow" states that one can schedule the interview right after getting a number. If one schedules it that way, the appointment will be cancelled. In other part (photo is also attached) it says that interview can be scheduled after Administrative Processing. All other questions I asked are not answered on the "Information" page. 🤷

  8. As I may presume all of you guys went through Moscow embassy. Reading the forum I can't grasp  any info on the few questions that would help me or people similarly situated to plan our interactions with embassy after the NVC. The case is currently "at NVC", hopefully being shipped on soon.

    1. When did you start scheduling medical?

    2. Did you translate vaccination papers from your fiancee PCP into English?

    3. How long before appointment for interview you had medical?

    4. How did you pay for interview, post office or bank, any delays?

    5. How do you pay for medical?

    6. Do you fill out medical appointment request in Russian or English?

    7. How far in calendar were the available dates for interview, when they open calendar for you?

I know it's quite a few questions, but it will be helpful if you respond to them.

If you already went through the whole process you obtained some knowledge, and at some point you used this forum to learn the process. Let's share some knowledge so future filers can do the same.

Appreciate your attention and courtesies. Best regards!

Thanks.  So I do not need an employment letter, only my father as he is the co sponsor?

So how did you handle that? Please advise which docs did you need for yourself and for your father. Thank you.

The interview was realitively easy and we were approved.  :):)  It was realitively fast, the whole process was about 2.5 hour.  We arrived at 7 and were near the front of the line, the line behind us was 1/2 of a block long.    Definitely leave phones at hotel, the van that stores your phone wants a ridiculous about of money to hold your phone for a few hours.   Most of the time was spent waiting.  The actual interview itself was about 10 minutes and the woman spoke perfectly English and Russian was was friendly.  The medical appointment was a lot longer and more difficult than the interview :)  We are glad it's over!

How did you guys request to be at the interview together? Or the petitioner can just come there with the beneficiary and will be allowed to the embassy?? Thank you.

The key word is FILED. Not approved or completed. So has anyone ever FILED for you besides your current petitioner (in this case,  you = beneficiary). If so YES, if not NO. Most answer it NO as they have never had a case FILED for them prior to their current petitioner.

    All the best to you.

In my case it is only the present K1 petition, none before or after. I see your point, but there is no word "besides". It simply asks, "Has anyone ever filed an immigrant petition on your behalf ". I am curious if anybody ever inquired about that with the embassies or DOS? I guess the other associated question is: is I-129f an immigrant petition for purpose of this question?

  12. In process of filling out the DS160. I suppose the DS160 is uniform for all embassies, therefore I ask in this thread. The DS-160 inquires: " Has anyone ever filed an immigrant petition on your behalf with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services? " Does the current Petition for K1 visa considered to be an "immigrant petition" and therefore it has to be answered "YES" and explained as "subject of present petition"? There was no other petitions filed for the person prior to filing of present DS-160. @Greenbaum

Here is what is needed for the UAE.

Don't do anything in advance until the case is ready at embassy and the embassy sends you an email to the petitioner to follow these steps for Scheduling interview, Medical exam, police clearance etc.  Usually takes about 2 months to receive.

A wealth of information on this thread

If you find anything not up to date or the information is wrong, please share your findings. Please compare the date of the P3 of mine with the date from your copy, once you receive yours from your embassy. Keep in mind that I try and be factual with my information, but I can't do it on my own and that's where you come in and can give back to the community those who come behind you. Without others ahead of you I would not be able to provide this to you.  I can only share factual information if folks like you continue to be my eyes and ears for your embassy. I wish you much success in your visa journey.

We need a little housekeeping on your end. Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline OR your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine their Embassy. The country that should be used is the country where the interview will take place.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Go to the top right of this page select your name (it's on the upper right-hand corner)>my profile>[below your picture on the right column] edit my profile. Scroll to the bottom and fill in "Immigration Info". There now we can better serve you.

Once you finish that then return and you will see a flag in your profile. Select it and see what wonderful information will open up for you.

    Thanks

@Greenbaum is there a P3 letter for Russia, Moscow. Our case is at NVC. Expecting it to be at embassy soon. Trying to anticipate the next steps. Thank you.

Make sure you take some time to read up on the medical process there at SLEC, you don't want to go there without at least having some idea what to expect. Also if you don't know yet make sure to bring several extra copies of YOUR (beneficiary) birth certificate with you for when you get to the US. I recommend everyone do that.

Where does one can read on the medical process? I assume you meant medical exam before the interview? What is SLEC? 🤕

Check out https://ru.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/fiancee-visa/the-interview/ for what you need to bring to the interview and submit to the embassy electronically (only email what they ask you to, bring any other evidence you want to bring with you).

Once you have an interview date, schedule the medical exam. You'll want to schedule it at least two business days before the interview (three if you have any K-2 children).

However, you probably do not want to schedule the medical too early because

    1) The visa expiration date is based on the medical date.

    2) (if you are not in Moscow) If they're close enough, you can get by with only making one trip to Moscow.

It's likely you'll run into issues whether or not you use your fiancee's patrynomic as a middle name at various stages in the process once you've already used it once.

I (mistakenly) filed the I-129F for Anastasia [patrynomic] [maiden name] but she didn't want to use her patrynomic as a middle name in the US, so her AOS forms were all filed as Anastasia [my last name]. Which meant it took a bit of convincing to get SSA to give her a new SS card as Anastasia [my last name] (which we needed so she could apply for a regular driver's license). Fortunately she's got all of her US documents as Anastasia [my last name] now.

Thank you for the link, it helped. 👍

  16. Our K-1 case was just received by the NVC. (Embassy: Moscow, Russia) Meanwhile, I am trying to figure out what is the next step (i guess it is the most common phrase on this forum). Here are few questions:

1.Do I fill out DS-160 and get some receipt # and then pay visa fee using that # or it is the other way- pay first and then fill out DS-160?

    2. Do we send visa pictures electronically or we presubmit all evidence papers together, or the beneficiary brings it all to the interview?

    3. Does my fiance bring I-134 and supporting financial docs with her to the embassy or it is being submitted during DS-160 process?

    4. At what stage does she schedule medical exam? How many days before the interview?

    5. Also, in 129f we entered beneficiary's name including the Middle name. Russian travel passport always has only First and last names. How do we file DS-160 with or without Middle name?

Sorry for so many questions at the same time. I kept reading embassy web site and this forum, but I still can't grasp the sequence and minor details of these steps after NVC.

    Thank you!
