  1. Can someone help me fill out the form I 864 I filled out the form I printed it out so that I could signed it I scanned it back to  using a scanning app.

And sent to my email and every time I try to upload it into the CEAC it says it’s too big. do you guys know how I can upload it to the required megabyte it says my file is 11 MB but I need to MB for it to be uploaded and every time I tried to compress the file the form it says it’s too big and every time I try to re-compress it it says it’s compressed or hits smallest size so what do I do  ?

how do I ensure all my files or document are compressed to 2 MB.

  2. Hi guys

    Hope you’re well.

My household size on the pdf form is not populating. When I get to to part 3 number 29 I entered 1 because it’s only husband.
I also have a 4 month old daughter here with me in the states
But when I try to add her in part 5 number 4
My household size for number 8 part 5 does not change, it worn even auto populate.

Same thing for my salary and the employèrent field for me to enter is greyed out.

I’m also using the correct form.

Is there a specific platform I should use to file the pdf form ?

  3. Hello, I have a few questions for clarification.

    Thanks in advance for helping.

what documents are needed for NVC- for Ghana?

    • my husband's picture passport
    • passport bio page
    • last two years of tax transcript, do I need my W2 as well? I do not have a 1099.
    • police reports from Ghana
    • civil documents- ( I'm confused on those) are they referring to the marriage certificate I attached when I filed the I-130?
    • should the documents be original documents or copies?
    • do I file the I-865? or the I-865A ? I don't think I will need a joint sponsor because it's just me and my daughter. I make 50K.
    • On the affidavit of support when filling it do I add everyone in my house ( I have three other people leaving with me aside of myself and my 4 month old daughter)

Do I add them on the form but not their income, since my income would suffice and be above the poverty line.

     Will I need anything else?

How long does it take to be DQ'ed?

What's the timeline for Ghana after document approval?

Please correct me if I am wrong on any of the above.

    Again, Thank you

  5. Hello,

we just got approved after 10 months of waiting for NOA2 for I-130.

    What’s next?

should I start getting any money, documents ready?

    what documents will I need?

I don’t mind waiting, I’m just taking it one day or one month at a time until my husband gets here.

    Thanks for your help.

She should double check with the airline if she can do this. One of the airlines I book with, requires travel be completed by the expiry date, not just booked.

    Exactly as you stated.

they wanted the travel competed by December.

Not just  booked, I verified this many times with American Airlines

This is an optimization problem with several constraints. American Airlines credits are particularly difficult to use flying out of Accra and Africa in general because American Airlines doesn’t come to Africa [only to Morocco] except through affiliates like BA and when the option to book through American Airlines (on BA flights) exists it’s twice as expensive as if you booked it directly with BA.

First plan would be to try to get the credits extended however that’s only going to be extended for a few months and you indicate it’s going to be at least a year and half before your partner will be able to use it to come directly to the USA. Still buys you time. The chat option is helpful so you’re not kept on hold forever like they do.

American Airlines until January 31 allowed you to gift your credits to someone else, alas that ship has sailed.

That’s why we were trying to do which is why I didn’t use it last year. The credits were supposed to expire last year October I extended it until December 2022.
seeing that the spouse visa is still taking long time he wont be able to use them this year.

I was hoping to find a solution that includes him using the credits this year but I’m finding more problems than solutions.

    and thank you

If the flight was canceled due to Covid and was purchased with a credit card, I’ve had good success getting cash refunded to the credit card for a couple trips. It wasn’t easy but then I’m very dogged.

    No it wasn’t

they said that the credits had to be used

as in buy a ticket and have completed the flying by December of 2022

Is your plan to torture the poor gentleman 😂🤣😂. That’s a hellacious itinerary.

    😂😂😂😂😂😂

he’s gonna have to do whatever necessary

    I guess😂😂😂😂

    My two cents, in order:

    1. Wait till when credits are about to expire and then call airline and ask for extension. You may get away with it dur to COVID. I know, we are past it BUT still in recovery.

    2. If above fails, wait till credits are about to expire, like 3 days, then book a future flight. Since they expire in Dec, I'll book flights in November next year (I think booking is allowed 11 months in advance). You can even use the points + extra $$ to book refundable tickets for Nov 2023..🤷🏽‍♂️

    Thank you

Honestly, if I were you, I’d save the AA credit for some great honeymoon/post green card flights and find an easier cheaper way to do this trip.

booking two separate tickets for one trip is almost never recommended btw, if one leg is cancelled you’re screwed for the other one because the legs of the journey are not linked. Example leg 1 gets changed by the airline and he can’t make the timing of leg 2 now so has to change that one separately, but gets whacked with change fees.

pS the link I gave you plus following page explains the difference quite clearly I think

    We already had our honeymoon

the credits expire in less than 6 months

thank you for the reference page

    thank you

The official uk website says “It’s currently taking 6 weeks on average to get a decision on transit visas.”
    https://www.gov.uk/transit-visa/direct-airside-transit-visa

If you just need a DATV, that’ll be a bit less hassle than a normal transit visa. It also means however any delay (and there have been many in London lately, I know of three people whose flights got changed from a few hours to overnight connections with short notice ) and he can’t leave the airport.
They’ll want to see confirmed tickets and itinerary before granting the visa. Like I said, get refundable tickets.

    We are applying for DATV

    I think

cause I still can’t tell the difference between the two

and he’s not leaving the airport

I can get a ticket using the points and later change the flight if I need.
I’m still confused I don’t know what to do

its so frustrating, just for a transit visa and not wanting to lose $2000 worth of credit

Like idk if I should have my husband

Fly from Ghana to heathrow using the credits

then pay out of pocket for a direct flight from heathrow to Jamaica

that one will just be one transit visa

    Or

have him fly from Ghana to Frankfurt Germany (which he’ll still need a transit visa for) using the credits

then from Frankfurt to Canada for a layover (another transit visa 😫😫😫) then from Canada to Jamaica with British airways or air Canada.

Reminds me of a trip back from Spain, it was a late flight so has spent the evening with friends in the bar etc before they dropped me off at the Airport, so was not in the best shape when we landed  at 4am whatever. Headed for the Toilets to try and get myslef together and was the last one through Customs by some way. Bit of an odd converstaion initially with the lady as she was expecting me to be an asylum seeker, apparently they dump all their papers and are the last ones through.

    Gatwick?

So I’ll just need a uk transit visa for transit through gatwick

    is that easy to get

im trying to find the waiting period for non Ukrainians

since those are the ones they’re giving priority at the moment.

  13. 27 minutes ago, SusieQQQ said:

There are flights with US layovers only, no UK.

Not sure if your husband has ever applied for a UK visa but they are a pain in the royal behind.

😂😂😂 soooo don’t try to get the transit visa for the UK ?

    BA flies direct to Jamaica

    From which airport ?

  14. 8 minutes ago, SusieQQQ said:

    Just some other observations

    - as visas are not guaranteed suggest you buy refundable tickets

    - there are routes from Ghana to Jamaica that have only one layover- which would save not only on layover time but also the hassle of getting another visa

i have seen some, but the I cant use the AA credits on the airlines.

lol, its a good idea, im going to try to see if I can make it work.

If i find a flight from Ghana with American Airlines or British Airways out of Ghana ( that way i can use the credits) then from wherever that layover is straight to Jamaica (pay out of pocket for that )

  15. One of the main reasons is also because he has $2000 unused credits from american airline from a cancelled fight from 2020.

it expires in December, I'm trying to make use of that as well.

Jamaica is a Ghana visa free country so we chose there.. but we could not avoid the layover in the US if we want to use the credits with AA or BA because those are the only airlines i can use the credits with.

unless we use half of the credits for a country

and then pay with our own from a country to Jamaica without stopping in US

I have not looked at flights going to Jamaica without layovers in the US.

Just to be clear -- B2 visa is never guaranteed from any US consulate in any country, not just Ghana.  Also, C visa (or any other visa type) is not guaranteed either, and it's just as hard to overcome presumption of immigrant intent as when applying for B2 visa.

I understand the uncertainty of both, and im aware of the likelihood of the outcomes.

I'm just going based on the one i have a higher chance on.

if it gets denied then it is what it is.

we're just trying to meet him halfway without having to travel on his side with our daughter, since we're looking at almost 2 years for him to get here.

  17. 1 minute ago, Boiler said:

The C is not guaranteed basically the same parameters as the B

I assumed it would be a similar timeline to obtain an interview did not realise it was much shorter

based on their website it has a shorter time frame, so I'm taking my chances with that.

  18. 3 minutes ago, Boiler said:

Why not just apply for a B visa?

because in Ghana, the B2 visa isnt guaranteed, and it takes longer to even get an interview.

I was already told this from some of you on here.

u said u both needed a transit visa to pass thur and the USC doesn't

Im a US citizen, i do not need the visa, he needs the visa to pass through the US.

  19. 11 minutes ago, JeanneAdil said:

spouse visa IS an immigrant visa

you,  the USC do not need a transit visa

u will not have MRV fee as that is for K1 fiancee visa

u will pay for the visa and AOS at the NVC stage (2nd stage ) of this process

it will be about a year from time of the petition

u do not schedule the interview for spouse visa/  that is scheduled by NVC and the embassy after your case is DQ'd

    This is a long journey

and sorry ,  can't help with a transit visa from Ghana for layovers / i am no help there

I was not asking about the spose visa, we are already int he process for that.

I was simply asking where to go to pay for the  transit visa application in order to schedule an interview, I am not sure if it's the same process for a B2 visa. The C visa is a transit visa since he will be travelling from Ghana to Jamaica and will have a layover, he will need a transit visa to go through the US.

    Thank you

  20. Hello family

Please help me and go easy on me.
my husband and I are planning to go to Jamaica for our anniversary and also for him to meet our daughter .
We know that we’ll need a transit visa for both layovers (UK, and US) from Ghana.

     Layovers are both 6 hours

I applied for the c visa it gave me a confirmation number , but I went to schedule the interview it asked me for a receipt number which I’m guessing I should have paid for it first after I applied.

I think I found a page where it asked me to put my case number, which I don’t have since I’m applying for a non immigrant visa.

please please help me redirect my steps

After I apply for the c visa

where do I go to pay for the visa?

what’s the MRV number, where do I get that ? I only have a confirmation number.

    kindly help a girl out.

    thank you
