By the way, I wanted to add a few data points for the sake of, well an AOS case data point.
1. When we filed AOS I used 2022 income which was $29k, thought that might be an issue, it wasn't.
2. We answered NO to the public charge question because as far as we understood, that is a correct answer. We never got an RFE for it, and did not upload unsolicited evidence.
3. The RFEs that was received, or that anyone receives for that matter have clear and consice instructions. It also explicitly states that the sooner the response is received, the sooner they will begin processing your case again. We did not stop each time to ask Emma or connect with a live agent to question the RFE that has clear instructions. We just did what they asked.
4. We were given the option for document uploads on the USCIS account, but chose not to due to the fact that the number of uploads is limited and you have to resort to using the unsolicited document upload option for uploading more. We sent it via USPS priority with tracking every time like we have done from the beginning.
5. Not much of a data point but the wife and I would like to suggest to a lot of you. Patience matters, it's important, it's what keeps you sane. The important thing is that you are together now, there is no more distance, just be happy and live in the moment while the processing of your case moves along. Don't go running to Emma every week asking why your case that usually has an 8 month processing time is not getting processed in 3 months.

Great news today 3/6/24, Case Approved! application to adjust status I-485. This was two days after they received the RFE for sending evidence of a shared marital life. So my assumptions were correct that the RFE was a way to bypass the interview.

I would try to reach an agent though Emma and expore what this is ....
Those things should be I751 ... not I485 as you said in a follow up comment ...That said, we are working on our proof of marriage doc which also dates to our first days ...
Strongly recommend opening a doc and adding as you go ... I find it far easier to do as we do things and remember that we need to take a photo ... because it will be used there. We've already gathered the requested documents and are mailing it out today. I did a Google search and this specific RFE has been issued many times before to other people. And after they responded to the RFE, a few weeks later their cases were approved.
So we'll just send this out and I'll report back when we hear from them again.

Did you not already provide all of that as part of your I-130?
If you look at my timeline we are doing AOS via K-1 Visa. I don't believe that evidence was going to be needed until after the I-485, when we need to file for removal of conditions. Unless I've been woefully uninformed this whole time, but nothing suggested shared marital life was required when adjusting from K-1.
-
Received RFE today 2/27, they are requesting evidence of shared marital life together, basic stuff like shared property, names on lease, joint bank accounts and tax returns, photos of the marriage ceremony.
I assume these are being requested as a chance to bypass the interview.

Hey everyone, hope you are all doing well....we are looking for advice. Everyone here seems to be moving along in the EAD and AOS process and ours is still in "finger prints received" from our biometrics appointment that was a month ago. Feeling a bit lost. I submitted an inquiry and was told our case is not outside of normal processing time.
Any advice? Anyone else still in this phase?
Thanks!
You're not the only one waiting for the AOS I-485, we are at the same point in the process as well. Also if you look further you can see that only a select few here in the October filers have already received their green cards. They got lucky, it happens, no one can really explain or know what they're doing at USCIS Field offices. I don't believe in any sort of trick like sending unsolicited evidence or what have you. The AOS has never been a quick process, when we started this we always expected like anywhere between 6-14 months.
We're not anywhere near outside normal processing times, so keep your head up, we're all just waiting for the processing to finish up.

Hello! Quick question....so can I submit the entire (130/130A/864/765/485) AOS package and pay with CC? I thought it all had to be in cash/check/ACH! =0(
Yes, there's a separate form for paying with a credit card that has you fill in your CC info. You have to include that and place on top of your packet

Attach any and all info you have that your case is at the embassy, with name and case number, along with the emails. They will understand what you're there for and what they need to do.

Well, the email like I said in my initial post do not have any reference to my fiancée or her case number; still I believe it to be her appointment date and time, however the Doha Clinic now pulling sideways insisting to see an email that indicate her case number in the subject line and showing her appointment date and time. We were planning like you said attaching the K1-FTP to the appointment email and go. But it seems Doha clinic not going to accept that. This frustrating beyond my ability frankly I have purchased flight tickets for her to be there and for me to fly from the US to be over there and now the clinic wont accept what we have 🤯
And to top it off the embassy won’t respond our emails

The mystery email set her interview date to Dec-5th.
the updated the case again today thou.
its beyond me what is going on over there… today the Doha clinic insist that for the screening we should bring and email from the embassy with her case number instructing her to go to Doha clinic otherwise she can’t do her medical screening vacc.
this entire thing getting darker and darker
That's not a "mystery email". That's your invitation from the embassy to go take your medical. Why are you saying this is dark? Print the email out, I'm sure there's your case number somewhere in the emails, print anything that has your case number, take all the obvious documents you have, schedule a medical appointment. Take the medical, then show up at the interview with medical results. Khalas.

thank you for the responses, i did email and asked but no response received from the embassy; however today checking case status on ceac.state.gov there was a change to "case last updated" and the date change to 19-Nov-2023 ( today date). not sure what's that even mean since the status is the same ( READY) and been ready since 12-Sep-2023. did we lose all this waiting time? if they updated the case what they have done if they did email us anything?
What date did they set for your interview?

This is the correct advice, we also printed out the email, actually asked them if the email printout would be okay and they said yes. Called the clinic and scheduled an appointment.

We just reviewed their RFIE letter and I'm very, very confused.
They say they couldn't determine whether the sponsor (my US citizen husband) is qualified but we are above the minimum requirement by far and did submit a lot of evidence. Perhaps someone can help me here. Here is our info.
Husband works full-time for a company and makes 110k USD a year before taxes. Our household is just him and I, so 2 people.
This is the evidence we submitted:
- Official letter from employer that has his employment and salary details.
- Paystubs from the last 6 months.
- W-2 forms for 2022, 2021, and 2020 (he is above the cutoff in all).
I don't think they lost this evidence since they uploaded the scans to our online account. We also have a mortgage and he has student debt. I don't think liabilities cancel income but maybe that's the case here? Or is it the W-2 forms? Should we submit another type of form instead (1040s maybe?)?
We would appreciate some insights.
W-2s are not sufficient by themselves, he needs to send the tax transcripts of the most recent tax year and optionally of the previous two years as well. They can be accessed from the IRS website. Just Google tax transcripts IRS

It gave quite a list ... once online account access was provides, I think they were overloaded with some of the packet and didn't see the tax returns (that I know we're there) ... oh well, sent back what was asked for and will see
So they asked to send them supporting evidence for the affidavit of support form?

When we got married we used her maiden name for the marriage license thus the marriage certificate also has her maiden name. We weren't sure at what point we would be changing her name. We didn't think much of it until we were starting the paperwork for adjustment of status. She intends to change her last name so we used her married name on the forms and put down her maiden name on "other names used". We are currently under the assumption that when the AOS is completed, she will have her name change official.
Wait I can explain.... In the form it asks if she wants a social security card. She does currently have one, in her maiden name. We are assuming that by checking yes on the box in the AOS form, that USCIS will change the name on her current social security number and give her a new one with the married name, which is the name we used to file the forms. Are we mistaken in making this assumption?
So now, she has a biometrics appointment that states in the letter to bring a form of ID that matches the name on the letter. Well it seems typically anyone in this situation would bring their marriage certificate with them that shows their married name to explain why the name is different on the letter and on the ID. That doesn't work for her in our case. Are we going to have problems or should we immediately go on Monday and try to get a new marriage certificate with the name change or possibly just go straight to the social security office and get a new social security card with her married name?

I replied to your PM as well, and also wanted to add that it took about 6 weeks for the case transfer to complete and arrive at the Doha embassy. Of course, it has changed since I've dealt with doha embassy as they don't respond via emails anymore from what I've heard. They use a visa navigator that they uploaded into Google docs

Was waiting on the biometrics letter (still says that status online) and received an RFIE letter instead.
Claimed I didn't do something but my folder was complete .... so printed everything again and will be mailing it off tomorrow. Also found what seems to be a rather through tracking program for our AOS(s) regardless of where they are processed.
https://www.casestatusext.com/forms/I-485/IOE-LBIs that all the letter said? They didn't mention anything specific that you missed?

RFE letter received 10/20, it was for missing US petitioner (me) proof of citizenship like a birth certificate and/or bio page of US passport for the I-864 Form. Sent out the response with the appropriate documents today 10/21. Biometrics appointment letter also came in today and is scheduled for 11/3.

Wow ... so far, only NOA1s here ...
Actually ... just checked and we have Biometrics too for the AOS ... wow
FedEx to Chicago drop box as instructed ...
How did you submit yours?I also used the credit card payment option so the payment was processed immediately rather than waiting a few days for a check to be cleared.

Wow, biometrics already scheduled? How did you get it that fast?
Yeah, not sure how it was so quick. We looked at other timelines though and it isn't at all uncommon to get the biometrics scheduled shortly after filing.
But today we got another case update that is a request for evidence. So we'll have to wait for that letter to come in and see what that's all about.
-
10/5 Submission, text received on the 10th that it was received. My Cases on USCIS shows Oct 6th was officially received, biometrics appointment scheduled on October 13th for a date that we will find out once we receive the letter.

Oh wow! I thought the welcome letter is necessary in the interview. Maybe I thought wrong. LOL
Guess what? Our case is ready! Will fill up DS160 soon and pay the visa fee.
If it's not too much to ask, may I know the questions that were asked during the interview? Are the officers American (white) or other nationalities/race? Just wanna know. Thanks!
Congratulations, I'm glad your case is moving forward!. My fiancée's officer was an American woman with a southern accent. I believe she said that it looked like most embassy personell were American.

Thank you!
Can I ask you something? Can you let me know if this is correct timeline?
1. NVC Case Number
2. Packet 3: Welcome Letter - Petitioner will receive this?
3. Case Ready
4. Submit DS160 and pay visa fee
5. Packet 4: Interview Date confirmation from Doha Embassy by email
6. Once the interview is confirmed, schedule the medical exam and vaccinations
7. Have all your documents and medical result with you on the date of interview and hope it gets approved. Lol
Did I miss something?
We don't get a packet 3, it's just packet 4 which is essentially the email you get when they give you an interview date and the following email which has some more instructions. And yeah every other step sounds about right. The medical result may either be electronic deliver or they will have you come pick it up. Initially they told my fiancée that it will be electronic, then she waited and it never came through so she called and they said there was a mistake and they had to give her the physical file instead. Lol. Typical Doha.

Good day, @badwolfxi i am actually having the same issue. I lived in South Africa as an international student and we applied k1 while i was there then later on i get back home and we sent a letter to USCIS let them know that I the beneficiary got back home and updated the address but last wednesday 19/July/2023 i made an inquiry requesting my case number and they respond yesterday on the 21July 2023 but the embassy of my case number is a wrong one. I sent an enquiry telling them about the error with supporting document passport, and others which shows that where am actually resident. so i am waiting to see their response... but in the same time when i try to track the case number they gave me it says that (YOUR PETITION HAS BEEN RETURNED TO USCIS FOR ADMINISTRATION ACTION AND IS NO LONGER AT THE NVC, FURTHER INQUIRIES SHOULD BE DIRECTED TO THE USCIS). i would like to know if your case was the same... did you got this message while trying to log in to track your case with the wong embassy?? and i requested for case number Wednesday, get the error case number by saturday and today sunday the case has been retrurn to uscis??? is the inquiry i did with all the attach can help??? or my case is already indeed be sent back to uscis??
No not entirely the same. There was a brief period where the status did change to "administrative review", however there was no mention about it being returned to USCIS. And after that it quickly changed to sent to embassy. So just be patient for now, but if it really is being sent back to USCIS, there may have been some kind of administrative error that the NVC found on USCIS's part that needs to be corrected. I've heard that this could cause a 6 month delay.

**Read the RFE letter** it will say on there that you can upload it on your online account. If it does not say that, then mail it.
