  1. if you were married in 2019 and still need to file tax returns ,  you can add her

the only time you can get a ITIN is when you file to IRS

needed things to do this are on the following IRS page:

https://www.irs.gov/individuals/international-taxpayers/nonresident-alien-spouse#:~:text=If your spouse is a,Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN).&text=If

if you already filed ,  amend the 2019 tax returns

when you file 2020 taxes and  if she is not here,  file either MNJ or married MFS and do the work for the ITIN

make sure she marks the ds 260 for USCIS to do the SS # for her when you get to that point

I filed MFJ as it gave a bigger tax break and larger refund (but it is up to u) any income she would have for her country is exempt up to $105,000 by filing 2555 form with those taxes

Great, she currently doesnt work so i am not sure if MFJ would work because i am the only one working and sending money back home from time to time for up keep.

It works as you are married filing together

many spouses (even in the US) don't work

sometimes it is even the man who stays home

  2. Hi, i have a question please.

So my wife is in Ghana and i have sent in my petition for the I-130 but wanted to verify, would i be able to get a Tax ID for her even though she is not here  and the I-130 is still being processed.

I am about buy a house and would want to put her on the lease or some bank information as more evidence.

Please let me know if its advisable or if its possible.

  3. Well i thought they would focus their attention on PROCESSING CASES thats why i asked.
  4. This is just a question, so with the USCIS preventing the face to face contact in regards to COVID-19, does that mean the cases for CR1 and others will be processed alot faster. just a question.
  5. And I did request for the text message aswell so I completed the form but havent received their text. Just making sure in good.
  6. Im not sure if this is the way it should be or if i am just lost. so i sent my I-130 Petition and completed the form to receive the text message once a case number has been generated but i did not get a text and i had to call them to get a case number and this is what i see on there when i looked it up. It said it was emailed and i have not received any sort of email. i just want to make sure im on the right path and the I-130 PETITION RECEIPT NUMBERS START WITH IOE. Case Was Received and A Receipt Notice Was Emailed On March 9, 2020, we received your Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, Receipt Number IOE---------------------, and mailed you a receipt notice. The notice describes how we will process your case. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.
  7. throw them away after the decision right?
  8. I already have evidence, as in pictures, etc to proof that we are legally married. I just meant with my regular life here.
  9. I already filled my taxes before going to ghana to herh married, I mean after I got back from Ghana, do I have to change my status at work to married, do I have to change my insurance and stuff to married?
  10. I just sent out the I-130, i just want to ask and make sure as to if i am supposed to change anything here in the states, as in should i change my status here at work or al my legal documents to married or what exactly am i supposed to do? Any help will be appreciated.
  11. ohh yeah, just changed it Do you think it will cause an issue since its two folders?
  12. When i mailed the forms and evidence, it came out to two folders because i had alot of pictures and evidence. Just want to make sure they wont just throw one away since one has the paperwork with a couple of evidence and the other has all the rest of the evidence. i mailed it together in one large envelope.
  13. I just mailed my I-130 but it is in two folders, one with the forms and a couple of evidence and another folder with just evidence, just making sure that it wont be too much because i made it two folders instead of one?
  14. The status hasnt changed and yes they told her to mail the passport with the forms they requested.
