  1. It is best to keep checking with 2go.

You can try calling the USEM but they will tell you to wait x amount of days. Another option is to have your USC spouse call the visa unit and ask.

Unfortunately, the US Embassy will not care if you scheduled a flight already. It states in their directions not to schedule a flight until you have the visa.

Hope you get ypur visa soon.

  2. If your spouse has her CENOMAR I would suggest going to the interview. You must have presented the NVC with the Hong Kong Mariage Certificate (MC)to get to the interview. Have her take another certified copy of the MC to the interview.

If the interviewing CO wants more documentation your spouse will get a MNL-IV-24 requesting more documents. She will be put on AR until the other docs are turned in.

  3. My wife and I were stuck in DV so long the 90 day maximum was reached. Document Verification was stopped in 2008.

As for the K1 visa guide the author is no longer on VJ. I tried to contact him to update the guide with no response.

I am on limited time now, but if anyone wants to help create an updated guide please contact me.

As previously stated, the US Embassy Manila (USEM) website has the most current directions. The K1 visa is under the immigrant visa section even though it is a non-immigrant visa.

  4. You, the petitioner should receive the NVC letter. The letter is not that important as long as you have the MNL number and know your petition was sent to the Manila Embassy. If not, call the NVC to get this information.

A copy of the NOA2 is much more important to take to the interview.

  5. The medical takes two days minimum and it is suggested to take at least a week before the interview to give the results time to get to the U S Embassy. If the results are not at the Embassy during the interview the visa will be delayed. The delay can be several days to several weeks. It will depend upon when the Consulate officer can male time to go back and finish the paperwork.

Mondays are very busy at SLMC, so my wife went on a Wednesday and Thursday.

  6. Copied from the medical exam walkthrough sticky post above you need:

    What to Bring:

    - If you don’t have your appointment letter yet, you may bring a photocopy of your NOA2 letter and NVC letter showing your MNL case no.

    - Valid Passport (have it photocopied as well)

    - Appointment letter – Bring original and have the first 2 pages photo copied.

    - 4 pcs. 2x2 photos – white background, with both ears uncovered and without earrings.

    plus exam fee

  7. After reading all the posts some things to consider are:

    1. Barely making it is still making it.

    2. The 125% of poverty is taken off of gross pay not net pay.

    3. A job does not have to be a permanent job, unless there is a contract for a certain amount of time. Your union wages may be why some lower paying employers are not hiring you. There is a good chance you will go back to the higher paying job when it comes available and thus gives the employer doubt you will remain for a long time. You must overcome this doubt when interviewed or talking to the potential employer. Have you tried leaving the income section blank on the application?

    4. Do you have any equity in a house or life insurance?

    5. Have you planned for the upcoming costs such as Adjustment of Status? After flying your SO to the US and the wedding other USCIS costs seem to come unplanned by many people.

  8. To become an RN you only need a two year Associates degree to take the nursing board exams.

My wife wanted to take nursing, but the waiting list around here was so long she did not get accepted.

Each college will decide which classes they will accept from your previous degree. Also, many colleges will require you get your grades converted to the US 4.0 system to accept your transcripts. The fee for my wife's (asawa's)transcripts was around $150 +.

  9. If the xray shows signs the beneficiary will be scheduled for the sputum test. Here is VJer Kikay's experience:

    1. SLEC will schedule you 3 consecutive days for sputum collection every morning at 6:00-8:30 AM. (No food intake night before your sputum collection and in the morning too, drink alot of water, bring toothbrush & toothpaste, no lipstick for women)

    2. RESULT 3DAYS SPUTUM TEST- on the day after the collection of the third sputum. This would depend on the volume of work they have. Sometimes, it would take 2-3 days after the third day before you go back for the result.

3.On the third day, you will be given a piece of paper that states the date and time that you'll go back for the PULMONARY EVALUATION. Here, you will get your 3-day sputum smear result. If you are positive, you will be asked to start with treatment or (Other info: a two-month culture is always completed before any TB treatment starts.)

If negative, the doctor will give you further instructions, if any. Then the nurse will give you another piece of paper for the date, time, and phone number for you to call them for the sputum culture result (you need to call them FIRST before you go there).

4.Based on Kikay's experience; Her 8th week culture will end on Oct. 6, and they asked her to call for the result on Oct. 8. Based on the posts here on VJ, SLMEC usually sets the vaccination date and interview date within the following week (latest would be two weeks after the result).

    5. As for some whose experiencing throat infection/cough (like me), some bacteria might appear in your sputum smear BUT of course they will NOT be TB. Med techs can accurately identify different kids of bacteria, so don't worry about it. I've read of some cases, though, that short-term antibiotic therapy (around 7-14 days) was prescribed because of the infection. In general, don't worry about your sore throat/cough because they will not misread it as TB.

  10. I would like to hear from anyone that was asked specifically for an updated intent to marry letter. My advice is to worry about the actual requirements, and not what has become one of many canards here at VJ.

You can try and PM some of the VJ members that posted in the thread I linked in post #14.

Just remember, if they have recently arrived in the US, they will most likely not visit VJ until after the marriage and are ready for AOS. Moving to a new country and getting married is a big change and keeps most new immigrants very busy.

  11. Not necessary, nor required. They already have the intent letters sent with the 129-F. What would be better, would be if the OP sends a copy of the original 129-F with all supporting documents and evidence for his fiancée to review prior to the interview.

My experience sys it is needed. 1. K. of your link of the interview directions does not specifically state a new intent to marry letter is needed in exact words, but it does say a clear intention to marry including letters.

Everyone I have helped with a K1 visa at Manila has needed new letters as well as the VJers in this thread last month: intent to marry letter

It is better to go to the interview prepared than to argue symantics with the Consular and get put on AR with an RFE.

And yes the beneficiary should take a copy of all items submitted for the I-129f to the interview. The beneficiary will need to prove the document was submitted for any items lost by the USCIS or DOS.
