  1. Just got the 48 month extension letter.  I guess the wait begins....

However, I do have a question about when to file for Naturalization.  In our case, my wife is married to a U.S. Citizen, so it's a 3 year wait until an N400 can be filed.  So, if the green card says "Resident since 7/14/21", then is the anniversary date 7/14/24 (3 years from green card date)?  And the earliest filing date is 4/15/24?

Or do I have that logic wrong?

Where did you download the case tracker app? Do you have a link?

I don't have a link and I can't speak for Android users since I have an Iphone.  However, it should be easy to find on your mobile device.  For Iphone users, just go to the app store and search for Case Tracker for USCIS (it's free).  I took a picture of what the app  looks like.  This will allow you to track all your receipt numbers with the USCIS to check their status.  Very handy tool.....

How long ago did it change to "New card being produced"? We just got that status today.

The status changes went in this order for us:

    1. (November 10th, 2020) - The fingerprints relating to your Form I-765 Application for Employment Authorization, were taken
    2. (February 25th, 2021) - We ordered your new card
    3. (February 26th, 2021) - We approved your Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization
    4. (March 1st, 2021) - We mailed your new card your Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, directly to the address you gave us
    5. (March 2nd, 2021) - The Post Office picked up mail containing your new card

Once we got the combo card, we literally got her social security number the following day or 2.  Very happy it was that quick, but I believe it's dependant upon where your SSA office is and how busy they are.

Highly recommend using the Case Tracker app that can be downloaded to your mobile phone/tablet.  My wife never got any email notifications from the USCIS as the card was being produced or mailed.  We got the updates from the Case Tracker way before we received the official Notice of Action letters in the mail.

    Hope this helps!!

What was the delay between “Response Received” on the I-944 and “Ready to schedule interview”? We just got the first one today, but I-944 is so huge that I’m wondering how long it takes to process.

It didn’t take that long.  I think my case was updated in about 1 - 2 weeks.  Honestly, they probably just made sure they received it.  I doubt they spent time reviewing all the documents I gave them that fast.  That probably comes much later....

    On I-944(shown in pic)
if beneficiary filed taxes for 2019(worked only in 2019) but didn’t work 2020 so no w2 for 2020
    1. Should the beneficiary tick “YES” for “did you or your household member whose income included, file a federal tax return” since she did one for 2019 ? OR “No” since she didn’t work in 2020 so no w2?

    Please advise

I'm no tax expert, however...if it was me, I probably would check YES since you did at some point file a federal return.  Then I would put 2019 in the box that says Federal Tax Year and then supply that Box 1 figure from the W-2 into the following box next to it where it asks for your "Wages, tips".  Also, keep in mind, not everyone has filed their 2020 taxes yet since people have thru April 15th to submit.  Therefore, if you submit before then, I would think the USCIS would be ok with your 2019 Federal Return.

Again, that is just my opinion.  Hope that helps!

  7. Last week, our case status changed to Case is Ready to be Scheduled for Interview.  After we submitted our RFE for the I-944, it was a quick turn-around which was great!  However, I don't know how long it typically takes for them to schedule an interview.  You would think it wouldn't take long, but I'm hearing it could take a while depending on your service center.

This process has been exhausting and we can't wait to get a break from all this paperwork.  In all honesty, the thing we want the most is the EAD approval so we can her social security number in order to file our taxes.  I know I could file an extension, but I would like to avoid that if possible since I have to submit 4 returns.....a real pain.

Send out our RFE I-944 last Monday and expecting USCIS will received it later today.

We had bio November 10, 2020 and it's been 2 months after still no updates on our EAD and AP. But I'm keeping my hopes up. Hopefully when USCIS received our I-944 everything will move again. (Praying 🙏).

We also had our Biometrics on November 10, 2020.  The USCIS should be receiving our I-944 package today.  I'm hoping the RFE doesn't slow the process when it comes to EAD and AP.  Would prefer if they were on their own time table separate of the I-485.  We'll soon see!!

  9. Hi all.  For the I-944, under the Household Assets section, there is a Current Cash Value and Total.  It looks like the Current Cash Value is taken into account in the Total field.  So I'm inclined on putting zero in the Current Cash Value field so the Total doesn't double count all my assets.  I did this because I listed all my assets in the fields provided already....so the Total is calculating everything correctly.

Am I doing this right?  Can anyone confirm?  Thank you!

  10. Hi all,

For the I-944's Household's Assets and Resources section, are the Beneficiaries' on this board providing their Petitioner's assets even though the household income is above the Poverty Line?  My Filipino wife doesn't have much money in her Philippine's bank account; even though she had a good job before she quit to marry me.  However, she spent most of her money helping out her family by putting her brothers and sisters thru college.

I can support her well enough, but I just don't know how that looks from the USCIS's point of view.  When we filled out the Affidavit of Support, I didn't provide any assets since my income was sufficient.  Not sure if I should be treating it the same for the I-944.

  11. So I originally filed back in September, but my first package got lost based on the tracking I received.  We sent a 2nd package back in October and found out later that the USCIS did in fact received my first package.  I put a stop payment on the first one so they wouldn't charge me twice in case they did eventually receive my first package (in which they did much later on).

Even after all that mailing nonsense and confusion, my wife still got a biometrics appointment on November 10th.  After reading a lot of posts on this board, I guess we got very lucky.  We did not submit an I-944 either, although, I made sure our paperwork was very well organized, clear, and wrote a very detailed Cover Page for each of my forms.  I guess it depends on who's reviewing your documents.  It's very possible we can get an RFE on the I-944 based on what I'm hearing, but nothing as of yet.

My next question is, how long does it take for the USCIS to schedule an interview with us after the biometrics has been approved?  Anybody get to that part yet?

  12. Hi all,

Tomorrow I will be filing again for the I-485 Adjustment of Status.  I sent the package last month, but the first package went cold and was never delivered by the USPS (I used Priority Mail as well).  I contacted them and they can't seem to help me anymore.  So I'm mailing a 2nd package.  I put a stop payment on the first one in case they ever receive it.  I am so mad right now with the USPS that I will never use them again.  Using UPS this time as I find them more reliable.  It's been a month since I mailed out the first package so I think it's safe to say the other one is pretty much gone for good.

I just hope the first package doesn't fall into the wrong hands.....
