Hi everyone! I've just had my AOS interview yesterday morning at the Queens USCIS office in New York City and I was approved! So happy after the 1.5 year wait.
I just wanted to share the experience here.
My hubby and I were pretty prepared. We had photocopies and originals of everything listed on the appointment letter. We also prepared photos of us, shared credit cards, health & dental insurance, etc. as evidence of our relationship.
The lady who interviewed us was super nice and gave off a really warm feeling. I was surprised when all she asked from all of our evidence that we prepared was a photo of us without our masks on. She didn't even look at any of the originals/copies of documents listed on the appointment letter. So my husband picked out a photo that had our dog in it as well and then the whole interview from there was mostly about our dog - what's her name, her breed, how old, where did we get her, etc. It was like a normal conversation among pet parents.
Then the lady wrote something in my passport about the date of interview, her name, my A-number, etc. and said should expect a letter in a couple of days. I checked my case status online and says the new card is being ordered and will be mailed soon!
I think there shouldn't be much to worry about if your relationship is bona fide. Just try to be natural and real. I do think I was quite fortunate in my case as I do read a lot of different experiences on here, some of which do seem quite a pain.
Good luck to everyone going to their interviews soon!

Hello! My marriage-based AOS interview is in a week and I'm preparing for it.
Do my spouse and I get interviewed together or separately and does the officer ask us both questions? Any tips would help! Thank you!

Hi everyone! My AOS interview has been scheduled for MAY 3. That's 17 months from my AOS filing date (DEC 2019).
As I read through the checklist of documents to bring, I'm wondering about the Medical Exam and Affidavit of Support. I have already submitted both in the package when I first filed for AOS. However, it has been so long so I'm not sure if I need to do them again. My medical exam was done in APR 2019 (that's like 2 years ago) with vaccination worksheet marked complete. If I read the instructions correctly for I-693 and I-864, I wouldn't need to bring updated forms to the interview? I just want to make sure and not screw up.
Thank you!

Hi there,
As I'm filling in the I-765 for renewal of my EAD, Question 25 asks me for my current immigration status or category.
I entered on a K-1 Visa, got married, and then filed for adjustment of status alongside employment authorization and advance parole.
Got my first combo card and am now waiting for green card interview.
My question is how do I answer Question 25. Am I still K-1?
Thanks in advance!

Hi there!
My question is regarding the renewal of my combo card which will expire in May 2021.
I'm still waiting for my Green card interview.
This is my first EAD combo card that I received when I first filed alongside form I-485 Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status. Now to renew my card, do I need to file I-765 and I-131 and pay the renewal fee or do I file those forms with proof of my pending I-485 so I don't need to pay?
Thanks!

Hi everyone,
To my understanding, I will need to attach a statement declaring to be treated as a resident alien for the entire tax year of 2019 when I file my federal taxes by mail with my spouse. Does anyone know if I need to do the same when we file for the state taxes (New York State)?
Thanks!

Hello VJ friends! First post yay!
I'm going to be flying from Toronto to New York City next week with 3-4 checked bags of personal items like clothing, some computer parts from my desktop, and some cash (under $10,000 USD). I would like to know if I have to fill in any forms to declare anything or if I should make a list of all my belongings accompanying me. Thanks in advance!
