  1. Mine took 2 weeks in Ho Chi Minh City. If your father-in-law has lived at many cities before Hue, it will take longer than others.

    Thank you.

Does police cert list places you had lived since age of 16? If so, do you have to answer the same info on your DS230 application?

  2. How long do you have to wait for police certificate in Vietnam? My father-in-law has been waiting for his for more than 3 weeks and still has not got it. He had to bribe them almost $100. This is in Hue City.

  3. If her full name Le Thi Minh Hieu, then put Minh Hieu T. Le (2 words first name). If named Le Minh Hieu, then Hieu M. Le (Hieu 1st name, Minh being M.I.).

Sign it in her own way, as long as it is true and consistent.

  4. Medical exam valids for 6 months. And visa expiration date bases on medical exam.

You mean if they issued visa on 01/31/13 and you had medical exam on 01/15/13, your visa would be good until 07/15/13? (for example).

But I heard medical exam is good for 1 year?

  5. I found out myself from Embassy Website:

.........."There is no assurance in advance that a visa will be issued. Therefore, you are advised not to make any travel arrangements for departure from Vietnam, dispose of your property, give up your job, or buy the airline ticket until you have received your visa. If you have been approved for the visa immediately following the interview, the visa will be delivered via courier service within two weeks. All immigrant visa applicants must use the courier service. Picking up visas in person will no longer be allowed. The delivery fee is either 77,000 VND or 165,000 VND depending upon your shipping address. The fee is payable only in cash VND at the EMS counter in the Consular lobby. Occasionally, visas are not issued immediately due to administrative processing or because of ineligibilities."....................

  6. I believe you may be correct. For some reason I had it mixed up with the police certificate validity period. In other words, the police papers expire in 1 year but the medical papers expire in 6 months. Sorry for the mixup. That was on me :-(

    Are you sure?

Does anyone else know for sure on medical exam and IV visa?

Where are the Vietnamese peeps you guys don't come to this forum anymore? :help:

  7. I have read somewhere medical exam is only valid for 6 months. Can someone please send a link to confirm this? Is medical exam validation different from countries? I think in Phillipines only valid 6 months. How about Vietnam? Is it one year or 6 mos.?

Also how long is the IR-5 (Parent of US citizen) visa valid for?

  8. Hello everyone:

visa. Please review the information listed under each applicant's name and provide any documents

which are indicated as missing or need additional information. You must submit the required

    _____CORRESPONDENCE INSTRUCTIONS:_________________________________

When responding to the National Visa Center, please include the bar code sheet that came with this

letter. Failure to include the bar code sheet may cause a delay in the processing of your case. The bar

Applicant in one package to the National Visa Center; sending this information separately will delay

    your visa.

    ..........

I already sent in AOS package but have not sent in IV package yet. Does this mean AOS package was accepted? and now they're waiting for IV package? Why IV application only Part 1? I'm planning to send in DS-230 parts 1 & 2 with civil docs. Why checklist when I haven't sent in IV package yet  I'm just waiting for civil docs from my dad to send over to me and then submit.

  9. only delivery now...

For real? All types of visas are delivered now? The passports are to be mailed to applicant's home address? What if you live in the village, are they ensured it's going to the right home? I doubt in Vietnam

  10. Thank you for your responses.

let-it-be: Do I have everything on the list?

Also, NVC will notify you interview date via email after your case complete, but will the consulate mail the interview letter to applicant's home address too? You need this letter to get in or just a copy of the interview appointment from the email is fine? I don't know I heard the applicant will get invitation interview letter?

  11. Hi everyone:

I just paid my IV fee today and now need to gather documents for IV package to send to NVC. Here is the list I need to send:

*DS-230 part I signed, part II unsigned.

*Applicant's birth and marriage certs (original or certified copy)

*Petitioner's birth and marriage certs (original or certifed copy)

    *Police certificate.

*Applicant's photo of passport bio pages.

    *Applicant's 2 passport photos.

    *IV document cover sheet.

Please let me know if I miss something else or something extra I don't need from list above. Also will they return all original/certified copies at the interview? You have to ask the officer for such at the interview? or assume they know already? Thank you all my VJ family!

  12. Hi menyoo, long time no see :) Hope life is good with you  .

My wife is petitioning for her Dad and we paid AOS and IV fee already, now we're waiting for civil docs form her Dad to send over to U.S. to be submitted to NVC. The civil documents for IV package should be listed as follow, right?

    *Police certificate

*Applicant's birth and marriage certificates (original or certified copy)

*Petitioner's birth and marriage certificates (original or certified copy)

    *Copy of bio passport pages

    *2 passport photos

*DS-230, signed part I and part II unsigned.

Anything else I miss from the list pls let me know-Thanks.

  13. I checked payment portal: AOS showed as paid and listed petitioner's name, but IV fee shows nothing and does not list principal applicant's name and fee amount. I've seen it listed principal applicant previously but now not shown anything. They already rec'd DS-3032, but no bill invoice yet...What's going on here

  14. I received this email from NVC today.....

"We received the principal applicant's DS-3032 (Choice of Address and

Agent) form designating an address and agent. Instructions for paying

the immigrant visa application processing fee and all future

correspondence will be sent to the agent at the address selected on the

    DS-3032.".....

Does this mean NVC accepted it?

Will I receive IV bill invoice soon right?
