    Hi all,

About to submit my I-129F but have a confusing scenario. I have dual citizenship from the US and Nigeria, and stamps at point of entry were on my Nigerian password. Would including this create any additional issues? I'm hoping not, as it is completely ok to have dual citizenship for US and Nigeria.

Would have included boarding passes, but realized there is no way to reprint boarding passes, since I did mobile checkin. I have itinerary from flights, pictures, and bill from our hotel stay.

Since you have dual citizenship, I’d try to forward both documents, just in case.

As for the proof of meeting, keep in mind everything you do needs to be part of your portfolio and forwarded to the USCIS.

Hi everyone. Due to CoVid 19 my fiance only made ~$18k in 2020, and our visa petition has been "refused pending a review of the following documentation". We have been advised to provide examples of additional savings and a job offer, but were not given a dollar amount for what would be considered sufficient savings. Does anyone have experience with this? Our families are willing to gift us the required amount, but we do not have another US citizen willing to be a co-sponsor.

Hello. I’d say if you have enough money in the bank account (savings) to prove you meet the minimum requirement, plus any other assets, you’d be fine.

However, an employment letter as proof of consistent earning is the type of document they like to see.

I have seen cases of people who had the employment letter and bank statements to prove they met the requirements and those were enough to help them get approved.

    Hello,

My wife's son (6 years old) has his K2 visa interview on May 24.  Apparently it is okay for a child to have someone accompany them during the interview process.  Since my wife has no AP and cannot go there for the task, it would be best if his grandfather accompany him.

To do this, I assume an authorization letter from my wife is needed in which she grants her father power of attorney to act on her behalf in accompanying her son during the interview.  Can something like this be used?  Are there any templates for this type of letter?  Anything in specific that needs to be in the letter?

Any help is greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

It is absolutely a good idea to have  this letter because it will save time in trying to explain why this or why that.

Go ahead and get it ready.

Dont forget to include the mother’s full name, A number (this is very important). It must be a good idea to include the K1-Visa number, too.

    Good luck.

    Hi all,

I've noticed in the list of documents to bring is "

    • Photocopy of police certificate of good conduct for all countries the beneficiary has resided in for more than 6 months since the age of 16.

I stayed in the UK for 6 years at one point when I was studying there.
Does this mean I would need a police cert from the UK too?

If you were over 16 and lived anywhere else for more than 6 months, then you will need one. That’s a rule of thumb.

Does anyone know if the NVC is actually sending K1 visas to London embassy yet?
i have called and emailed several times and all i get is this:

“Due to COVID-19 concerns, the U.S. Embassy or Consulate General in London suspended routine visa services. The National Visa Center will not forward K1/I-730 visa petitions to London until they resume routine visa services. The U.S. Embassy or Consulate General will resume visa services as soon as possible, but they cannot provide a specific date.”

But the London embassy website is clearly stating that they are now processing immigrant and Fiance visas?

They are getting the petitions approved and ready to move forward. However, nothing is going to happen until the beneficiary’s Embassy/Consulate is fully ready to resume their services and interview people.

My fiance is from Ecuador so most likely her ID and birth certificate would be in Spanish. Do we NEED to get this stuff translated or can I just photo copy them? Also, she doesn't have a passport. It's been months since she applied for one but they won't get back to her. No updates whatsoever. Do I really need to copy this for the i-129f too? It would be much simpler if I could just give them an ID or something. Not everyone is willing to spend money on a passport they might not be able to even use after all.

In any case, if I do need to get all of this stuff translated to send the packet in, where should I go to do so? Keep in mind I'll only have photo copies of this stuff to turn in to them, not originals since I'm all the way in the USA and don't have the time or the 300$ to travel for some paper since the government already wants me to spend over 1000$ on this visa. I literally don't know. She can translate herself but they're so picky so that's not an option.

Hello! In the instructions they say any document in a language other than English needs to be translated.

Some people with great command of English do it themselves. Some others look for a professional and get a sworn translation.

One thing is for sure: translation MUST be done when it comes to any document that’s not in English.

    Hi,

I really need help. My partner and I have consulted with 2 lawyers already, but they are saying different things. Just a background story, I have worked in the US on my tourist visa in the past and a month ago I got detained at LAX airport for 4 days. I was honest with them that I have worked in the past and that I have a boyfriend in the US for 3 years. They gave me a choice of withdrawing my visa (not banned) for me to be able to apply a visa again.. Although, my worry is not being able to apply again even though they said I can. I want to know the chances of us getting approved for Fiance or Spouse visa in case we apply, the timeline, and what kind of waiver do we exactly need and how long does that take as well. We have been doing our research, but there are a lot of waivers and I'm not sure which one is the best to use if ever we might need one. We've been apart for more than a year and the clock is ticking for Fiance Visa 2-year window. I really want to be together with my partner already and I want to believe that we can be together again. It will also be helpful if there are lawyers out there who are experienced with this case. Thank you for your help!

Hello! What most people in the same situations as yours, end up deciding to do is to file for a CR1.

It’s on the officer’s discretion to analyze and present a final decision based on the documentation you both will forward them, though.

    Hello everybody,

Our K-1 interview yesterday was cancelled due to COVID, so we quickly grabbed the next available on June 15.  Afterwards we realized this date will not work due to medical exam timing and a few other factors.

So, we want to try to get an earlier interview date, but we have used up all our cancellations already so we cannot see the schedule any longer (previously we could see "Next Available Appt. Date".  We are willing to pay the visa fee again in order to be able to monitor the schedule, and we hope we could do this WITHOUT cancelling our interview June 15.   Ideally we can keep June 15, and if something becomes available in May we grab it.   I have no idea if any of what I just said is possible in the US Travel Docs system.

We have called the embassy multiple times and they just tell us they recommend we keep June 15.  Unclear if we pay the fee, that automatically cancels our interview.  Confusion over CGI number, Virtual Account Number, etc...Emails are replied with copy/paste nonsense.  I did not post this in the Thailand forum as it is pretty dead over there; I imagine the online system is the same across all embassies.

    Thanks...

My sincere advice would be keep June 15 because if before Covid-19 there was confusion, let alone now.

A few years ago I was on a message board about dating in former soviet union countries.  Someone there was talking about making travel arrangements for his K1 fiance.  He started looking into the AOS process and the provision in the I-864 about the liability if the immigrant goes on public support.

He worked himself over with so much worry and anxiety that it affected their relationship.  He could not relate to her after she arrived without thinking about the I-864.  It pretty much ruined their relationship and she went back without getting married.  He was miserable, and she was miserable, especially after quitiing her job and selling her things to move only to have to start over again back home.

My advice - evaluate the strenght of your relationship.  The I-864 liability, thought not trivial, is minor compared to financial and emotional costs related to divorce and, in rare and extreme cases, false claims of VAWA.  Do not let the public charge liability influence you.  Let your relationship influence you.

Are you guys compatible?  Do you see a happy life together?  If you are unsure of her character and personality, then rethink your decision for the K1, hopefully before her interview.  If things are good and you believe she is the "one", then happy journeys!  Well...as happy as you can be while filing forms and dealing with USCIS...

And I’d also say that, on top of that, some foreigners come to the US thinking a single breadwinner in the house will make it all happen when it comes to paying bills and have some savings for future plans.

Some cultures see it as indelicate and disrespectful if you investigate about a person’s financial habits and so on, but part of a good marriage is to be on the same page when it comes to finances and long term projects like working and saving money for a greater good.

My advice here would be to track your fiancee’s real intentions and motivations to begin with.

hey, I'm filling I-129F and I have one question. on page 2, for address history the form asks physical address 1 to fill current address. it says "provide your current address first if it is different from your mailing address." Mine is not different, so should I just leave is blank? write N/A? or what should I do? thank you?

I’d leave it blank. That’s what I did on mine.

Hi! I need some information on how I can resolve this issue.

My petition has been sent to China, but as stated on my I-129F I requested for it to be sent to South Africa. (The country which I am from) as I anticipated to complete the interview in my country. I will be leaving China next week and the NVC informed me that our case has already been sent to China.

Does anyone know what I can do? Advise?

I have contacted the embassy in China to make the changes but they replied to me that my email address cannot be verified and still no reply from the Johannesburg consulate.

Looking forward to any response! Or if anyone else has been in this situation, please reach out.

Since you’ve already contacted the Embassy in South Africa, wait for their response.

In the meantime, if you have a saved copy of your form filled out showing you did not picked China as your interview base, pull it out, reprint it and have it ready to forward it to them in no time.

How long does this process take and the request is for additional evidence, what would additional evidence be? Everything was summitted  as per the petition instructions.

    Hello.

So, in the RFE notice they will send you, you’ll have a list of what type of evidences they want to see.

Right now, guessing is not a good thing to do. I’d suggest that you wait for that notice to get in your mail box and have what they need as soon as you can.

    Hello,
My fiance and I recieved the K1 package on Wednesday March, 24th to proceed with final process for the visa.

When my fiance tried to schedule the appointment, it only give him two appointment priority options below :

    1.221g
2.Regular (there were no appointment dates available for this option).

Should he go ahead to schedule the K1 visa appointment under the 221g option? Please advise.

    Thank you!

    Hello!

Regular appointment is the one you must select.

If there are no dates available, keep checking the portal until you find an available slot.

    Hi,

At this page doesnt clarify if are printed or not but I doubt will be digital especially for the medical exams.

    https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Supplements/Supplements_by_Post/ATH-Athens.html

The above page has link to the below page

    https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/photos.html

Applicants using Form DS-160 or Form DS-1648

If you are applying for a nonimmigrant visa by filling out the DS-160 or DS-1648 online form, the form will instruct you to upload your digital image as part of completing the online visa application form. Review the Digital Image Requirements, which also provide additional requirements if you are scanning an existing photo.

Some embassies and consulates require visa applicants to bring one (1) photo, which meets requirements, to the interview. Review the embassy or consulate instructions where you will apply to learn more.

Could you please let me know what did you do with the documents too? For lixiarxiki praxi and poiniko mitroo I see that there is no need for translation is that info correct?

Any documents that are not in English or Greek must be accompanied by an English translation. Also, you MUST provide an English translation for all court or legal documents (other than divorce documents). Translations are only accepted from the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Please visit their website for information on getting an official translation.

In addition, do you know if e-docs from gov.gr are accepted? Now poiniko mitroo (police record) can be found online and we can print on our own (has a verification number on it).

    Best

    Christine

    Hello.

All my photos were printed on glossy paper.

The only digital photo I had in my process was the one for the visa itself.

    Hey,

I thought the NVC automatically sends the case to the embassy, but when I got the case number, they said they may not send it unless the embassy requests it since many embassies are closed right now.

Anyone else heard this? Thinking I may need to call them back as the Vietnam embassy isn't closed, so I'm not sure if we should do the DS-160 now or continue to bug the NVC or something else.

    Help please! Thanks!

    Hello.

I’d suggest that you try to get ahold of an officer and point out the fact that you have information that this one Embassy, which is the one you will be heading to, is not closed.

I personally think it’d be a waste of time to fill out DS-160 right now if your case still seems to be stuck with the NVC.

Depending on your fiancee's country of residence, getting a fiance visa could take longer than getting a spouse visa (assuming you are able to get married soon).  Many embassies/consulates still have not resumed routine K1 visa processing although they continue to process spouse visa applications.  When routine K1 processing does resume, there will be a backlog of at least a year's worth of K1 cases ahead of you.

    Hello!

You must be right on your assumptions.

Every time I come here or other forums, I see more and more people saying they’ve heard crickets from either USCIS or NVC.

It just sucks to learn that many people’s life plans are in a limbo which has no date to end.

    Hello.

Most cases like yours, the best to do is have a joint-sponsor.

Find someone who is willing to be financially responsible for your fiancée, sort out all the documents and you may be fine.

I have no idea why I have this but rest assured I’m calling on Monday because this is so bizarre and nothing makes sense as to why I’d have this with a rejection notice about no payment and the receipt number is completely different on the notice than on our original case.

It must’ve been a glitch. Unfortunately USCIS is a total chaos.

    Hello,

So I have my interview in a month for a K-1 Visa.

So my fiancée doesn't meet the required money (by very close unluckily) but her dad is co-sponsoring us. We did the papers (I got them today through mail) but I think we messed up for her dad we filled the I-864 instead of an I-134 (we thought only the fiancé had to do this form).

Can someone confirm or unconfirm that both sponsors have to do a I-134? It's pretty confusing online  :(

Apparently the 864 is maybe for the "previous" AOS that Biden cancelled, etc...

    Thank you !

I-864: is for the Adjustment of status.

I-134 must be done by the joint-sponsor with all supporting documents required (3 year worth of tax return, bank statements (to show income consistency),  pay stubs (for the last 6 months), and any other complementary documents.

So, after analysis of your case, the USCIS will forward it to NVC and then to the designated Embassy in your hometown.

An interview will be done and once your spousal visa is granted you will be ready to fly to the US and work since day 1 of your arrival.

    Hello!

As a US citizen, she may have a US passport issued to her and be free to fly any time she wants.

As for a non-US parent, like your case, the fact that your daughter is planning to start a university here, is not really grounds to expedite a Visa process, unfortunately.

    Given that many young Americans

usually move out of their states to study away from home, the justifications you explained here are not going to work in your favor.

In American culture, youngsters move out and try their best to take care of themselves without the need of having their parents’ guidance and closeness.

    Hello VJ Forum,

I decided to shared the withdrawal process with the forum in case someone else needs to reference it. After deciding to withdrew my petition, I couldn't find much information on here and I said I would come back and share; hopefully, no one else will need it.

The petition was submitted 20 April 2020. I contacted USCIS to inquired of the process of withdrawing the petition and here is the information needed:

In order to withdraw the petition you MUST send in a letter to request withdrawal, no need to go into details. The letter  must include yours and beneficiary full name, your address, your phone number, the Receipt Number (WAC XXXXXXXX), and the beneficiary A #, if applicable. You must sign and date the letter.

Mail letter to the Service center that processed your case. California processed mine and the mailing address:

    24000 Avila Road

    2nd Fl/Room 2312

    Laguna  Niguel, CA 92677.

I am waiting on receipt for the letter.

I am really grateful to this forum for being so helpful during the process of the application. I did the entire K-1 myself because of this forum, without RFI and it was approved. Just unfortunate. It is what it is. We live and learn and do better next time. I did gained a great friend from here while going through this process  (Hi! @Linneku2023 🤗) and although I am no longer in the process I will check in here and there.

    Good luck to everyone.

    Hello!

We sure appreciate your sharing the procedures and, like you said, even though you’re not in the process anymore, you learned a lot from such experience.

    All the best for you.

I used to have a program on my laptop that would print out conversations from facebook messenger . All I had to do was put in the time frames. I have saved quite a bit but it has been several months since i have done this. Recently, I ad work done on my older laptop. Specifically, I had the dvd drive removed and had a solid state drove installed. This procedure wiped out the program I was using to print out the chats from facebook messenger.  I use facebook messenger for chatting with my fiancee in the Philippines. As I mentioned, I have saved and printed out quite a bit. I'm just wondering how much the us embassy in the Philippines will want to see of the chat logs that i have or if they will even ask. My k1 petition is currently stuck at the nvc with thousands of others but eventually it will hopefully be processed so I am trying to look ahead. I can't find that program anymore and it might not exist. I want to hopefully make the process as easy for her as possible.

    Hello!

I personally added 6 pages of chat logs, 6 of emails and 6 of videochat screens and it worked all right for me.

They care more about seeing things like flight tickets, photos and anything you guys may have done together when in person.

    Hang tough and stay positive.
