My husband just got his visa. We filed a IR-1 spouse visa while we were living in London. His is finally finished, and I’ve been here getting everything set up in the states for a bit now.

He’s arriving next week. The one form in his visa packet said that it could take up to 6 months for his green card to come. I thought it would be much quicker. Any idea how much they actually take on average???  Or is it really going to be that long!!!

About 120 days if you pay the green card fees before entering the US. Mine came within 120 days.

What is an I-155 visa? Did you mean an I-551 stamp? Or your endorsed immigrant visa?

    1) Employers should not be revalidating employment authorization for a permanent resident. See https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/complete-correct-form-i-9/completing-section-3-reverification-and-rehires

    2) You can contact USCIS to schedule an appointment with the local field office to get an I-551 stamp valid for a year.

After creating the topic, I checked my green card status and it's been produced lol. I am so happy

I called USCIS yesterday asking about green card arrival and they said if it is not received after 120 days to call them.  So wait another week and then if you still don't have the card call USCIS.  And make sure the mailing address for the beneficiary is correct because green cards will not be forwarded by USPS.

    How do I check that?

But the only status still says that payment received on 29th May. That's it

I-551 stamp in the passport with visa and SSN are all you need to work.  My husband entered the US a week ago with CR-1 and he is actively looking for jobs now with I-551 and SS card.  At POE in Miami the officer said it could "take a very long time" for the green card, as they are backed up, very typical for USCIS.

Thanks. Yeah. I didn’t know the I551 stamp is enough.

    Just for anyone's future reference.

After a 2.5hr wait, I managed to get my SSN application in.

The lady at the counter told me that there was no application sent in automatically (even after I had checked that box in the DS-260 and it had been more than 4 weeks since my entry into the US).

In hindsight I probably should have made the trip 2 weeks ago. Clearly the "automated process" didn't happen.

For some people it happens automatically. But if it doesn’t happen in 2 weeks, you gotta go there. Tbh it’s up to the immigration officer. If you are lucky enough they will send your details. If you’re not, you gotta go there. I downloaded the application and took it with me. It took me just half an hour to get over with the application.

How was the queue and did you need photocopies?

It's been more than a month since I entered (with CR1 visa as well) and still no ssn card either.

Will be going to the local ssa office tomorrow .

The queue wasn’t that long as I went before there starting time. No, you don’t need copies. Just make sure to bring your marriage certificate, birth certificate and passport. I brought my marriage certificate by chance and that’s the only thing she asked for although it wasn’t a requirement.

No your visa is your work authorization

You will be required to complete your parents names on there. Obviously you cant enter their ssn

So once I fill the form I have to wait in a long queue? Do I need photo copies of my passport and birth certificate as well?
