You are required to report change of your address with uscis within 10 days of your move, not that everyone does within that timeframe but still. It's a 5 min thing to change your address online with uscis.

Your sponsor (likely your spouse) needs to mail i865 as well to report the change of address.

Oh gosh i had no idea about the 10 day rule i hope that isnt going to be an issue, I'm trying to update it online but nothing I put in for my DOS case number is being recognised, so I'm assuming the online route is a no go. thank you!

Edit: just found the online page and submitted the address change :D Thank you!

  2. Hi :). I received my greencard back in October and originally wanted to go back to the U.K. to see my parents, but realised how bad the numbers were and put it off. It’s nearly been 2 years since I’ve seen them so one one hand I would really like to go back for a while and on another I’m still on the fence about going because of the current covid numbers and risks. I shouldn’t have any problem returning to the US if I choose to go right? Also, I took my spouses last name which appears on my greencard and have yet to change my surname on my passport, anyone know if this will be an issue? thanks :)!

As of today, my husbands AOS case changed to "Case is ready to be scheduled for an interview" 71 days ago on April 29th and we had to send in his EAD card to have his middle fixed since they spelled it wrong and that case was updated to "Name was Updated" 22 days ago on June 17th and now nothing. Has anyone else had to wait this long or should we be calling in and getting an update?

I have been waiting since about June last year, things are going to be way slower with covid now.

USCIS has clearly told not to show up without an interview notice after COVID. I dont know who is advising these things

This was literally a day or two before it was decided all offices were closing, people were calling USCIS offices and they were told they were still open at the time. I’m not saying people are advising currently? As for the interview letter, I received one in February for an interview for March, that’s how I knew I had an interview.

hey Sean, any update on your interview? I had a scheduled interview last March 19, sadly the office was closed. i also did not receive any mail from them..

Nope :’( reverted back to ‘ready to be scheduled an interview’ and haven’t heard anything since besides a cancellation letter, I’m going to assume it’ll be a while until I have mine rescheduled.

how do you know you have an interview when office is closed ? did you get a notice ?

This was right before offices all closing due to COVID and I received a scheduled interview date a month before, and then I received an interview cancellation letter the day before the interview, People were still being advised to go incase they didn’t have a confirmed cancellation

You last question is of little consequence right now. Keep focused on the big picture.  Right now you need to focus on quickly getting a copy of the RFE. You need to thoroughly and promptly provide USCIS with the necessary information to satisfy the RFE within the allotted time frame..

Are you adjusting status, can't tell from your timeline, you should update it. :time:

The site says they’ve received my response to the RFE ‘September 23rd’ (although I didn’t receive or send anything)

I checked on novemeber 26th and the i485 status back then was ‘case ready to be scheduled for an interview’? That’s why I’m confused.

And will fill out my timeline :).

    What's your local field office?

Input your zipcode and tell us:

Maryland, Baltimore! And ooh okay thank you, was just wondering since a friend who filed a week after me got their notice in the mail today, I guess since our local field offices are different then!

This link says "There are two possible times when you may be screen for marriage (1) at the K-1 visa interview and (2) at the US border entry."

I wasn't married during the interview and Iwasn't registered there until after my entry, because it takes time but I have to check the dates.dates.

In all cases, is this something I should worry about now? How does it come up?

Even if it doesn’t come up, which it will, you must be honest in all the information you give when filing for AOS or any immigration benefit, and the fact is you were married and legally registered as married before you entered the US on your k-1 visa. Omitting information about your marriage in your home country to avoid that scrutiny to gain immigration benefits is material misrepresentation.
