My wife submitted some documents yesterday. She was interviewed in February and shortly after that, there was lockdown. People that are getting visas now were interviewed before the lockdown. But I heard that some are getting interview dates now for next month. Not quite sure about this but someone told me that.

Thank you so much. This information is so helpful. I see embassies are gradually opening up and things are slowly getting back to "normal'. Fingers crossed.

This ban doesn't hold again since February. There is a waiver. Many people have been granted visas. Even last week, some were granted immigrant visas. You need to join the forum for Nigeria to get updated information.

Thank you so much for the information. Was there a very critical reason the people gave to be granted Visa's? I thought I have joined the Nigerian forum.

They are open for visitor visa. He can always apply the likelihood of approval is about 0% unless he has an strong travel history to other countries that gave him visa and he returned on time.

What are his strong ties to Nigeria? Having a fiance' in US shows he has immigration intent so hard to get approved.

And file when you get married.

Thank you. I will do the visiting and apply for him after marriage

I don’t think you need to worry too much about the fact that Nigeria is considered a “high fraud” country. From your previous posts, you are Nigerian and came to the US last year as a sibling (F4) and your fiancé is someone from your hometown that you have known since before you immigrated. The “high fraud” comes into play when we see young, Nigerian men marrying older (and I mean 20+ years older) white American women who are beyond childbearing age and often have a string of divorces and a collection of children in their wake, and marrying them on the first visit after a few months of flirting online where even Ray Charles can see that they have nothing in common.

Your story is completely different. Once you have the official, legal marriage certificate, file the I-130 and the relevant supporting documents and get the ball rolling.

You are absolutely right. We have known eachother forever. We have loads of pictures to proof different ages of our lives. I feel so encouraged right now.

Thia is absolutely wrong. The ban has nothing to do with filing a petition. She is free to file once they are married. The Ban has to do with issuing Visas. And I know a few who had the ban waived. The Ban doesn't mean no one gets a Visa in Nigeria.

As far as what you say it will be lifted ASAP. That's not happening until Nigeria comply and changes their fraudulent behavior and allowing nonsense.

@kivasbeauty you can go visit get more evidence and when you get back file for him. Makes absolutely no sense to wait around and be further behind waiting. It will be well over a year before you approved petition gets an interview anyway.

But first you need to go and get married.

Thank you so much for the advice. I should have asked this question long time ago. I will book my flight as soon as possible and get in the process.

Do you have any idea about the tourist visa and if he has chances of visiting and being approved

You can’t even file anything for him right now that there is still ban on Nigeria, you just have to take it slow, probably get married in Nigeria when you come around, then when they lift the ban,you can then file for him

Thanks for the clarification. That's the point that for me really confused. To file or not to file. Can he apply for visiting visa now? What are the chances of tourist visa been approved? I apologise for the multiple questions. I just need to make the right steps.

Don’t be discouraged, the ban on Nigeria is temporal, they’ll lift it ASAP, just visit him for now, they will help your petition,my wife is a US citizen and she filed for me since November last year,we still waiting for the embassy to open before they’ll fix my interview date, she visited 3 times and spent more than 6months with me in Nigeria,I hope that’ll help regardless thé visa ban on Nigeria

I am a green card holder so it makes process even longer. I got the information really wrong. I should have gone ahead and married and probably filed for him. I felt the ban meant a shut down in everything. I guess I should just visit for now. 6month visit wouldn't work for me with a green card. Besides I have been here for barely a year. It's so tough emotionally.

  8. Hi everyone, I really need help here. Visa journey guided me all through my journey getting to the united states and I am here again for guidance. My fiances is in nigeria and I want to get married to him and bring him here. With the recent immigration ban etc , it is really frustrating my efforts. I don't know what else to do and it's really affecting our relationship. Can anyone advice me please. Is Nigerian embassy open? I was considering visiting nigeria every now and then and maybe he does the same till the ban is lifted. PLEASE HELP

That's too bad. Try calling USCIS, you may have to physically mail them your address change and wait. That's what we did because for some reason the online form didn't work for us.

Mailing address might take forever. That should be your last move. @millefleur is right when he said you might recieve a long call wait volume. Cornavirus is priority and unfortunately affecting all sectors

    Good Luck.

I changed the address online 2 weeks ago, I only got the address change request confirmation the minute I submitted the form and it said - expect reply by march 13, it's the 14th already, I got no reply, no other email,

was I supposed to get any kind of confirmation email? should I submit the form again?

I am waiting for my GC to arrive so this is important.

Hello. I see myself  in your message. I advice you call USCIS, inform them that you changed address. They will ask you what you changed it to, once you tell them. They will confirm if it is same with the records they have.

Also don't forget to create a USPS account with your address created.

That's a very important step as well.

How long have you been waiting for your GC?

    Good luck as well

Did you hand carry a packet from the consulate and have it over to the CBP at your entry ?or were your documents all electronically submitted and you didn’t have an envelope to give to the officer on entry ?

Electronically. It's been sorted out now. Thanks. The Senate office helped me. I have my card now.

    2. Something to proof residency in the state eg drivers license (thry didn't ask for it bt I sent it )

    3. I also attached a copy of the Privacy Release Form  on the senators website to grant them access to your details.

    4. My passport page with A number and kind of visa

    5. A letter stating the date I entered, date I paid, response(s) if any from the immigration when and if you have contacted them regarding the delay.

    6. I took them to "Please feel free to contact me if you need any additional info".

Note: the fax was not delivered so I sent through USPS and also scanned and sent to email.

Oh I meant I also sent a letter. I was going to say drafted. I attached a letter to my other documents

  15. Hi everyone, so I posted my concerns a couple of weeks ago regarding the delay in my green card.

    Great news. It arrived today.

If you have not received your card after the "over 120days" statement.

I strongly advice you call your Senators office.

Mine (Maryland ) was so helpful.

In two weeks I recieved mine.

By law the USCIS is expected to reply to the Senate office regarding their constitutes.

Also get a drafted letter ready and other documents.

Feel free to ask further questions.

This group has been a bliss.

I appreciate the day I bumped into this group so il willingly aid as many as.

  16. Hello, please has anyone had any issue recieving green card after 120days. I contacted them severally and finally got this information..

"However, USCIS is still trying to locate your Department of State (DOS) issued Immigrant Visa (IV) Packet, which should have been sent to USCIS by DOS or the Port of Entry (POE) when you entered the United States. USCIS requires a completed IV Packet in order to process your Permanent Resident Card (PRC)."

Please share your experience if any? The stamp on my passport will soon expire cos it's almost a year.

    NO.  NOT RIGHT.

A US citizen petitions for a spouse in a similar but different path than an LPR petitioner.

    1. Both start with filing an I-130.

    2. Different categories; Immediate Relative (IR) vs F2a category.

    3. In the IR category, visa numbers are immediately available and derivative beneficiaries are not allowed.

    4. In the F2a category, the beneficiary must wait for an available visa number and derivative beneficiaries are allowed.

    5. CR-1/IR-1 visa for the spouse of a USC.  F21 or FX1 visa for the spouse of an LPR.

    Thanks so much.

    So it's F21 I am applying for.

Do you have any idea of the duration it will take from the time of applying to the time of issuing the visa/interview.

Like a rough range of the duration.

Cos I intend to start next year.

    Probably mid next year.
