thanks, @vdsanctis, I agree. If I'm not mistaken we don't even have to pay for the combo card renewal since we have the i-485 processing. Really frustrating because our paperwork was moving along quite fast, but what can you do, things happen.

Do you know if the renewal of the combo card is basically the same process as the original application? I'm sure I can find that on the website.

I found this list of documents for the renewal process, its pretty much the same + the documents of your first combo card:

    For EAD renewal:

    1. Fill out and sign form I-765.
    2. Two RECENT passport color photos with A-Number written on the back of them
    3. I 765 Approval Notice and Receipts
    4. Photocopy of 485 receipt (i-797)
    5. Form G1145 for (email/sms) notification during the application process (optional)
    6. Photocopy of Current EAD/AP combo card (front and back)
    7. Bar codes page attached to the previous EAD/AP approval (optional)
    8. Copy of Marriage Certificate for dependent only (optional)
    9. Front and back copy of I-94 (this is not required for people with pending I485).

    For AP renewal:

    1. Fill out and sign form I-131.
    2. Two RECENT passport photos with A-Number written on the back of them
    3. Photocopy of 485 receipt/ Approval Notice (i-797)
    4. I-485 Receipts
    5. Form G1145 for (email/sms) notification during the application process (optional)
    6. Photocopy of Current EAD/AP combo card
    7. Bar codes page attached to the previous EAD/AP approval (optional)
    8. Copy of Marriage Certificate for dependent only (optional)

There shouldn't be any fees and I think you also need to renew within 180 days of your current EAD expiration day (but i would double check that number in case it was changed).

Hey all - it's been a while. So our process was moving right along when, like many of you I'm sure, COVID put a halt to things. My wife luckily has here "combo card" (i-131 / i-765) which expires in February 2021. Our i-485 (green card) is still waiting to be scheduled for interview.

In everyone's opinion, should we just re-apply for the combo card in the meantime to ensure my wife retains the right to work and travel internationally? I seriously doubt the green card interview will occur and we will receive or GC before Feb 2021. I'm not even sure if in-person interviews are occurring right now.

I definitely think that you should reapply just in case. The wait time does depend on which state you are in, for example in New York its anywhere between 13 to 36 months usually - but Im also assuming that with COVID and rescheduling this wait time might be even longer. Things are so uncertain right now its better to be safe.

I just called the USCIS, they told me my case was last updated on the 28th and that I should be receiving my biometrics appointment letter in the mail 'sometime soon'. No updates on the USCIS website though (still says fingerprint fee received/case received). Fingers crossed! 🤞

Update: We got it in the mail yesterday! scheduled for next week 😀

  4. Hey everyone, just wanted to let you know that i received the NOA on the mail TODAY haha. and just a day after having a minifreak out and making my post in the forum 😅. welll just comes to show that all was needed was a little patience on my part. Thank you and thank you again for your responses, they made me feel much better. NOW let the wait for the biometrics letter begin!

You have a case number for all 3 applications so your stuff obviously didn't got rejected 😊 congratulations and breathe. Wait 30 days from the date you got the case numbers. If you don't have the paper notices in hand by that time you can inquire online about the missing notice.

Ok, I wasn't sure because when we received the rejected application it had its own receipt number. So I just assumed the receipt number is something every application got coming into their system.

But it is true that we didn't received the text message from the G-1145 on the rejected application but we did on the new application- but again Ive heard that some people just don't get the E-notification at all and some do 😅

  6. Hi everyone,

Im in need of some reassurance, so my husband and I applied for I-485, I-131 and I-765 (I came in with the K1 visa, and my husband is an American citizen). The USCIS website is telling us they received "Fingerprint fee received" on the 8th of April for the AOS and for the travel and employment is just says case received on April 3rd. We are yet to received a physical NOA

I am more concerned about this because this is the second time we apply, our first application was rejected because we used an older version of the form - and Im afraid that we will get rejected again. We are already beyond the 90 days the K1 visa allows, and I just don't want to be in a dicy legal position.

    I guess my questions are:

    • Does the "fingerprint fee received" message in the USCIS website mean that the case was accepted?
    • Is it normal to not receive the NOA at this time (I understand that Covid is probably slowing case processing but i guess in general, have people not received them in the past and been ok?)
    • And, just in case, if I do get rejected again what would be my legal status in the country? Since its outside of the 90 days of the visa, would I be illegally here?

Thank you so much for your help in advance, this is truly given me several panic attacks and any information I could get from seasoned AOS applicants could help me have a better idea of whats going on.

Stay safe, and thank you again.

You may have to search the forum. But I think I've read stories similar and they were okay. Can't remember what else they did though.

Ive contacted the embassy to see if I can get the paperwork resealed, but they only work through email so the wait game starts again. ugh I feel so dumb.

Approved! What a relief that is...

Just a couple of follow-up questions for the group that would be hugely helpful:

    1. The "sealed envelope" that is referenced in everything I'm reading to hand to the Customs Officer upon arrival, is that given when we actually pick up the visa? (it was not given in the interview)

    2. Is there a process for literally "scheduling" your point of entry? I am under the impression you can't just show up at any airport on any day without designating first...but I don't recall designating the POE and certainly not the date of entry.

omg wait, were we not supposed to open the envelope?! I opened it first thinking my passport was in it. omg what do I do! did I just ruin my chances for a smooth POC??

Hi all - is there a general rule of thumb for how early to get to the embassy before the interview is scheduled?

They let you into the building 10 minutes prior to the interview. Maybe 20/30 in case there’s a line? It’s more of a judgement call.

  10. Hi guys! I just wanted to let you know I had my interview today. Everything went pretty smoothly I think, my medical examination hadn't reach them yet (the doctor's office said that they were delivered at the embassy this afternoon) so I wasn't able to get a yes or no today - but the questions were very easy and straight forwards and the officer was very nice. They kept my passport so Im hoping thats a good sign. Fingers crossed!

  11. hi guys! soo i got our interview date (oct 15 wish me luck) and im just going over the documents we need. I have a question on the affidavit of support. can I bring it along with my fiance's W2s the day of the interview? the reason i ask is that in the email they sent says to "send it directly to this address" but i dont know what address they mean, or if they mean that the irs has to send it directly. im a week away so im freaking out a bit.

  12. ok Im very veryy confused. So the NVC sent our case to the embassy on Tuesday 17, and for a while now on the ceac website it shows as READY. But I haven't received absolutely anything from the embassy. I called several times and they gave two different email addresses, I emailed them and haven't received anything back. Am i supposed to pay something before I get contacted? Am I supposed to do the online profile beforehand? Am I supposed to just wait until someone contacts me? Please help - I am crazy confused on the packet 3 and 4 and how Im supposed to get them...

  13. Hi everyone - Im hoping for some clarity. I looked up our Case Status on the USCIS website yesterday (August 16th), and instead of the usual "We have received your case" text, we have a Name was Updated: On August 15, 2019 we updated your name for your Form I-129F, Petition for Alien Fiance(e). We haven't done anything since we sent the application three months ago.

I tried to look up the case status today and now it's just blank. Like it only has the ----MY----- header and nothing else.

If anyone knows whats happening or has dealt with this in the past, I would love to hear you out. Cant help but freak out over here! Thank you all.
