  1. I have been buying and selling on eBay for about 5 years now and have only ever been stitched up once! I bought something and didn't get it.. But I did eventually get my money back.

I also bought a laptop (Which I am using as I type!) And the transaction was fine. As mentioned above.. Make sure you check someone's feedback. Also, make sure that you check out what they have sold in the past. The reason I say that is because every now and then people have their accounts hijacked. So if you notice that someone in the past has always sold CD's or kids clothes and then all of a sudden start to sell LARGE amounts of expensive stuff then be a little bit wary.

Also, I would advise you not to buy anything of great value from a new eBay member. Not saying that all new eBay members are going to con you because everyone has to be new at some point, but there is definitely more of a risk.

Just stick to the above rules and keep your wits about you and you will be fine.

Another tip is to always pay by Paypal. They have buyer protection and if anything does go wrong, you will almost certainly get your money back.

Edited to correct spelling mistakes... Still trying to get used to typing on this laptop!

very well said. another major thing is never use your debit card to pay for your purchase, use your credit card.one that has a purchase protection, so even if the person try to scam you, you can always get the credit card to fight for the money. it happen to me, not only I never was out of the money(credit card), but the credit card disputed with paypall and got the refund for me.

I never bought a lab top thru ebay, but I bought an hp computer. I am very happy with it.

    good luck

  2. Oh, sorry, I got mixed up!

I did pay for my husband's ticket with my own credit card. I called Delta today and they said it should be no problem.

    I am not worried.

Is your husband's final destination Ohio? kelvin's is Chicago. Hopefully he'll make his connecting flight. I though Cinncinnati would be a lot more calmer as a P.O. E. as compared to JFK.

    molly,

I hope cincinnati is much better POE. I read some good experiences about it.

well yes this will be his final destination  I can t wait :devil:

I wouldn t worry about your husband making his flight connection, he will be okay. tell him to just ask if he need help no problems

    how excited are you?

what time is your husband scheduled to arrive here? :star:

  3. Normally in the morning.. sometimes at night... He husband is OBSESSED with taking showers.. And it doesnt help when we are together.. cause religiously you gotta shower after you Do the Deed  in order to pray again.. So especially for newly weds.. who live apart.. we basically live in the shower :P:whistle::whistle::dance:

    we too :lol::lol:

  4. As you can see, it's not usually a problem. But if you're worried about it, you could not book an e-ticket and instead make sure he is issued a paper ticket through a travel agency in Italy.
Many airlines charge $100 extra for paper tickets.

Whatever happened to the $10.00 - $15.00 surcharge for paper tickets? Inflation?

    I know :crying:

When I've bought tickets on some airline sites it clearly states that the credit card used to buy the ticket must be presented at check in IF the cardholder is travelling on the booking.

As I actually enjoy making travel arrangements, I've bought a couple of international tickets online for the hubster when he was travelling without me. He has never been asked to show a credit card and I just assumed this was because his name was clearly different from the name on the credit card used to pay for the ticket.

thank you so much for that answer I guess I may have over looked that

  5. You don't have a cell phone?!? Gosh, I'd die without my cell phone. ...

I hate phones. Plus I don't need to have a cell phone, I don't have anyone to call

I got my first phone after I divorced my first husband. I didn't like the idea of being out and about by myself and not being able to get someone if I needed them. Then after Javi and I started dating that was our main means of communication. Then when Melissa and I became such good friends that's how we talked all the time, txted mostly. I've got a couple of other friends that only call/txt my cell. We've even thought about canceling our phone service at home and only having a cell. We can't do that right now though because our home phone carrier provides our internet service. If we cancel our home phone service we won't have internet anymore. It sucks living in a small town where you can only get one internet provider.

you may wanna ask them about dsl. since I didn t have a phone connected in my appt, they charge me something like 5 bucks for a phone line. I could get free incomming calls, no caller id call waiting....if I make a phone call that will cost me 3 cents a min. I only use it to receive phone calls since I have a cell phone already.

    good luck

  6. Good idea to do some counseling together. Wishing you both the best and much happiness together.

Isn't it a little bit early in a relationship to already have problems and need counseling

WOW, I think that is so rude!!

I have nothing but respect and sympathy for the OPs decision. She just listened to her heart and I think it is great they decided to work on things and get help in their current situation. Whatever it was that made her not to go to her wedding...she is willing to face the issue and work on it.

IMHO, that is more courageous than many people getting married and did not think about it thouroughly and then get a divorce 3 months later.

I agree though to some other posters that they will probably need some counseling that goes a little deeper than the usual "pre-wedding counseling" that you get offered at various places, churches,...

All the best to you, JODO!!!

I agree, this is not the first time I read a rude and insensitive comment from this person...

The last time I had paper tickets (1 year ago) they charged me $25. And that included FedX delivery.

that would be worth it, but again what if I don t have to pay it

it is such a relieve knowing that you guys had no problems. thank you so much

I will email them this time and hopefully I ll get an answer in writing.

    :luv:

  11. i have bought tickets for my hubby before and he never had any problems using them and this was for international flights.... you just have to make sure to use the name of the person who will be using the ticket....

he is named as the passenger but I used my credit card to pay for the ticket.

(we don t have the same last name either  )

  12. do you have any experiences in regards to an electronic airplane ticket you bought for your spouse?

I know someone who was refused boarding because he didn t have the credit card used to buy the ticket.

please advise me as I may encounter this problem. how do you think this problem should be handeled? :help:

I've purchased electronic tickets online for my kids several times, but it was always a domestic flight. Check with the airlines, but I don't think there should be a problem as long as your named as the passenger. :star:

    I LOVE THOSE PANTS

this an international flight from italy to the usa. I am not going to be the passenger my husband is

  13. I bought my wife an electronic ticket, for which she presented her passport to collect. No problem. This was on United.

Check with the airline you plan to use.

I called them before buying the ticket. the problem is I am not sure if i should trust their phone answer knowing that someone else had trouble.

I am so annoyed about this ..I thought I was done worrying after we passed the interview

  15. I had originally bought his ticket online with alitalia air and that is how we got into so much trouble. For this flight arriving TODAY I called and confirmed it with the airline, then sent him the money and he went and paid for the ticket at the counter there in egypt. I would strongly recommend doing it this way - and FYI, we did not get him a roundtrip ticket.

before I bought my ticket thru delta .com, I called to make sure my husband won t have any trouble with the electronic ticket. I specifically told them that I read on their site that he may be asked about the credit card. I was told NO PROBLEMS, and so I went ahead and bought it . I am so worried now that I know what had happen to you guys. I am not sure if I should call them again :o

  16. alright so now...it is really real! he is on the plane and will be arriving tomorrow at approx 1430! OMG, I have so much nervous energy...too bad i did all the cleaning / errands last week when he was supposed to get here on monday :D Thanks for all your support!

    these are the questions:

how much is the fee for the cr1?

when u have to go to pay the fee at banca nazionale del lavoro? and where is it?

how many pictures do they need?

do u have to go to istituto varelli by taxi ? on the first day before u go to embassy and after in this clinic???

how much is the cost for the medical visit?

    :help:

in your case cr1 you have already paid the 380 dollars visa fee, so don t worry about that one

the fee for the medical for my husband was 235 eu ,he had to take all the vaccines though, he paid cash at the medical office no problems .make sure he plan to spend a long time there .my husband stayed there from 8 15 to 3pm (got me worried and called everywhere, my brother in low who lives in italy, called the medical office for me and was told he is still there  )

my husband took 4 pictures with him I will ask him tomorrow how many they took from him and get with you.

for his trip to the medical office, my husband took the bus and it wasn t that bad.

where is your husband staying do you know??

if you husband speaks italian I wouldn t worry about him, mine arrived at the hotel sunday took the bus to the medical office and walked to the embassay so he got himself familier with thier locations

let me know if you have any other questions :P

  20. Molly, big days coming up! Did the B.C. come in the mail? How's everything looking? Anything I can do? Hope everything has come together! Well wishes your way! Bree

    Thanks Bree,

No, the B.C. hasn't come but we're still hoping that it will come tomorrow. Do you think the consulate will just hold the visa until they get the B.C. or will they reject our petition (hopefully it's the former!)

Kelvin had his medical today. He didn't really have a problem getting to Istituto varelli. He's staying at B&B Areamare (which he DOES NOT recommend, no hot water, dirty room, etc. At least the bathroom was clean he said.) He had to get one shot and it was E50. He made a friend at the hotel who is doing the same thing but his wife isn't USC, she's a permanent resident, so they have been helping each other out. He thinks that the people he has come across have seemed a little ignorant (for example, the owner of the B&B thought he was Japanese - he's South American). He also said that people aren't dressed very well compared to Rome, so he's sticking out. I'm a little worried about him getting mugged, he said some guy was trying to corner him.

So, tomorrow is the BIG day and I'm so nervous. I haven't been sleeping and have been forgetting to eat! Imagine me forgetting to EAT!

I can't believe we've come all this way only to lose the Birth Certificate at the last minute.

If you or anyone else in this forum has any words of encouragement I would greatly appreciate them.

    Molly

    molly,

I am sorry about the problem you are having with your husband's birth certificate, I hope it will be easy getting them to send you one with the right year

I am thinking of you, and wishing you the best and quick solution :luv:
