Thank you so much. I will be going to Morocco 1st quarter 2022 to marry him. I need to find a thread that tells me what I need to do before I get there

In addition to the list below, if you have been married previously, you will need to bring copies of the divorce decree.

    1. Passport.
    2. Passport sized photos.
    3. Birth certificate.
    4. Copy of the 2 witnesses' passports.
    5. Fee.
    6. Police record from your country of residence.
    7. Medical certificate from a Moroccan doctor.
    8. Affidavit stating that you can legally marry.

My friend will be travelling there in 6 weeks to marry her fiancé. I can ask her if there is anything else that she is taking?

We spent 3 months talking online and then I visited him for 1 week. Presented lots of pictures. I am working with my fiance to  see if he has something in writing.  Thanks so much. I. Think the next step may be I have to go back. And marry him there

My now husband is from Morocco. I visited him three times before we filed the K-1 visa. The Casablanca consulate is quite tough as others have pointed out. We had a binder full of pictures and text messages, Facebook chats, etc. First interview he received the administrative processing paper. They wanted more evidence which had already been submitted, but we did it anyway. Second interview he was approved. I met another woman on this site whose K-1 was denied on the spot as well. Similar situation, she had only been to Morocco one time. We started our process in May 2018, and he finally entered the US in October 2019. I’m happy to share any of my experiences with you if you want to send me a private message. I agree with others on this post though at this point you will have to go to morocco and get married, and file the CR1 visa. Once the K-1 is denied, they send it back to USCIS we’re basically dies. Plus side of the CR one is that when he does enter the US he will automatically have a green card and work authorization. My husband had to wait eight months for his work authorization and over a year for his green card.

  3. My now husband and I went the K-1 route. We filed for K-1 in May of 2018. It was received in December of 2018. He had his interview in May of 2019 (so yes, one year since filing). His first interview he was put in AP (Administrative Processing). We provided the documents (even though they already had them) and finally rescheduled for a second interview in September of 2019. He was approved and came to the US in October of 2019. Married November of 2019 and filed the I-485 also in November of 2019. He didn't receive his work authorization and SSN until August of 2020. We finally got his greencard interview on 2/9/21, was approved, and Green Card in hand 2/12/21.

So in essence, from K-1 to Green Card in hand took 2 years, 9 months. With the new administration, the timeline might be quicker, just sharing my experience.

    Hello Visa Journey Members,

There are so many people on administrative processing waiting for a decision.

Has anyone been called back more than 2 or 3 times for an interview by the Embassy in Casablanca prior to your visa being issued?

    We would appreciate your feedback.

    Thank you!🙏🏽

My fiance was called back for a second interview and he was approved. That was Sept 10th. Our case status changed to "Issued" on Sept 12th. We never received any call or text from Aramex that his passport and visa were ready for pick up. He called and actually went to the Aramex location several times, nothing. Then we get a call on Sept 24th asking why we did not pick up his passport? My fiance told them he'd been calling and went there and nothing. The officer said they would sent it back that day. He went to Aramex on Sept 25th. Still nothing. He went to the Embassy and spoke to a security guard and that person graciously called someone in the Embassy who placed my fiance on hold and called Aramex. They confirmed the passport was there, so he went back to Aramex. After about 15 minutes the lady comes out with a package (the passport and sealed documents envelope are given in a clear plastic bag). He noticed the passport cover was old and he knew his was a newer one. He opened the clear plastic bag and looked at the passport, it was for an African woman? They finally found his passport shortly thereafter. Point of all of this, if your case status says "Issued", do not believe Aramex that they do not have it. Have your fiance go to the Embassy and see if he can talk to someone inside to intervene. It's been a horrible experience, but we finally have the passport/visa and he will be here in Los Angeles on October 17th!

,my fiancé and I   had the same thing happened to us  that I would describe as a horrible experience  .after her interview she was told she is approved, they kept her passport, and told her to register and all that stuff..etc...we were supposed to get a text or a call for her to pick up her passport from Aramex, that never happened,we started to call both Aramex and sending emails to embassy, because Aramex were saying that the passport with package was received then was returned to the embassy (whithin 5 or 6 business days!!!??) ,with it being impossible* to get a hold of someone at the embassy, we made 3 trips to Casablanca in two weeks period  with tens of emails sent, just to find out that  the passport and the package is at the embassy because the envelope was opened somehow.and returned to embassy...after thoses attempts  and two lost flight tickets..we finally decided to go again to Casablanca and be in the queue with those with interview appointment, just to get through the gate and explained the situation, finally got an employee outside to talk to us,we couldn't get in,since we don't have any appointment letter ,anyway,my fiancce then  was screened and was told to go inside the building  and she got her package and passport back.totally horrible experience, with lot of money wasted, I am glad it s over  and I don't agree with all that hussle!

a little note on the side:   packages that are sent from embassy to Aramex with valuable docs, like passports and visa and such are transported  in a small plastic box in the back of a moped !!! go figure !

Wow, yes this sounds exactly like what we went through. It's absolute insanity. We too got a call from the Embassy asking why we didn't pick up the passport, when my fiance called DAILY and went to the Casblanca location TWICE! Given our experience, I think they gave his passport to someone else and it was returned, OR, it was sitting in the back somewhere and Aramex didn't bother to look hard enough. I don't believe his passport was EVER scanned, hence no notification for us that is was there. The whole process is so broken over there. Thank god they let her into the Embassy to get her passport and package. Luckily, I had booked my fiance's flight a month out after his approval just in case, and I'm glad I did. Congratulations to you and your fiance!

Does anyone know if there's ANY way to expedite the Casablanca consulate interview for fiancé visa? Maybe a lawyer, mayor, or someone who can get into contact with them somehow? Because I know they don't look at the applicants messages.

Hello! When I wrote my congresswoman, I received info about expedition and was told the only qualifying events would be a death, serious illness or threat of violence. To obtain the expedition, you'd have to jump through even more hoops. I was emailing daily for awhile and maybe they got tired of it an responded. Shortly after all the emailing, my fiance got a call from the embassy scheduling his second interview. All I can say it just keep at it. It's frustrating, it's demoralizing and it causes strains on your whole life, but in the end it will be worth it. My fiance didn't get his visa until 13 days after he was approved and he had to demand to speak to someone at the embassy (via a security guard who was very helpful thank god). The embassy said they sent it to the Aramex location, then Aramex saying they didn't have it. My fiance talked to someone inside the embassy who confirmed his passport was at the Aramex location. He went back to Aramex (mind you he'd been going back and forth a few times that day) and they lady at the Aramex location was gone for about 15 minutes. She brings up the passport, (it's in a plastic see through bag along with the packet of papers in a sealed envelope only to be opened by DHS in the US) and he noticed that the passport looked old and torn up. His passport was new. He opened the plastic bag and the passport was for an African woman!!!!! Thank god he opened the package there! The woman at Aramex looked like she was going to barf. She went back to the back and miraculously "found" my fiance's package. Needless to say, it's been a journey. We have his flight booked and he'll be here in a few weeks. Don't give up. Just keep at it. I'm happy to share any details about my journey to you. Direct message me and I'll give you my email.

I would also question why the comment about your case being in Washington? To me, that sounds like they sent it back to USCIS for reaffirmation? I don't know why the case would be sent elsewhere if it's truly been approved. Have you been checking the status via CEAC? https://ceac.state.gov

You would choose the Immigrant section, and choose "check my visa application status". I am sorry you are going through so much. Don't give up!!

We waited 12 days & he received his passport with nothing stamped or visa package...he called & they told him they did not do such a thing once you are approved you are approved..so he went to embassy & he was not attended very nicely...the officer just told him to send in his questions immediately, but my fiance had proof of them receiving questions & was trying to show email as proof that he was approved bc we got an email stating the embassy received passport as tracked & will send with visa packet in 4-5 days....he even asked the officer if he could speak to a supervisor or higher rank officer & he was ignored & dismissed....the officer also told him he was stuck between immigrant visa & Nonimmigrant visa....the following day I emailed my congressman letting him know of our situation....from the time I last email embassy & my congressman the only thing I knew was that our case was escalated to post which means it was reassigned to another officer at a higher rank....we did resend the questions immediately 22 days ago I have been trying to confirm if the embassy or immigrant unit has received them , but never got word until today...it took more than 20 days for the embassy to let us know Washington has his case it's the final step in processing his visa & has been escalated for final resolution...& They did receive our questions....so after he was processed as Nonimmigrant visa holder they sent his case for final security....

Our case went from Immigrant Visa Administrative Processing to Nonimmigrant Visa Application Received to Nonimmigrant Visa Administrative Processing & our date created was updated after they switched visa names...

Thanks again so much. Yes, I have copies of everything. It make me laugh because when I check the USTravel docs sight for his passport status, it still says, "passport is still in post". Sigh. Once the citizenship is granted, I'm with you, I'm going to have a giant BURN party of all this nonsense.

We double checked the visa and everything is correct thank God! His flight is scheduled for October 17 to fly in to Los Angeles and I am over the moon excited. Thank you for all your help 🙂 I may hit you up with some questions after he gets here if you don’t mind

I feel your pain reading this story. I do have a happy ending finally my fiancé got his visa! But when he got to the Aramex Office yesterday, the woman told him his passport was not there, so he went back to the embassy and talked to a security guard, who went above and beyond and called someone inside the embassy and handed my fiancé his phone so he could talk to them. The woman he got on the phone told him to wait one moment, and she called the Aramex  office and then told my fiancé that his passport is there and They are aware that he’s on his way. So he went back to the Aramex  office, and the woman was gone for 30 minutes and came back with a package and my fiancé looked at it I knew it was not his passport by how old the passport cover looked. So before he left he opened the clear plastic bag that had a passport and a sealed envelope and looked at the passport and it belonged to some African woman. I’m so glad that he checked before he left. He told the woman of her mistake and she looked flustered, and went back and found his passport. So now he’s got his passport with the visa glued to a page, and a sealed envelope of documents that homeland security will need once he gets here to the US. It’s just mind-boggling to me how completely broken. This entire process is. We started our journey on May 28, 2018. Don’t give up and keep on hammering them with questions and emails. Please let me know how things turn out for you! I wish you all the best!

and don't trust what the embassy says,  i went up to the window when my husband was first denied ( as soon as he came out)  along with a Florida girl there waiting same as me,   we were told our case had already been sent back to the USA   (20 minutes after an interview?????   no way!!!!)

Ugh that scares me. I truly hope it does not take that long, but I am relieved and grateful that he was approved and will be here eventually. Thanks for all your help

    This address?

193, Bd de le Résistance, Casablanca

they might have sent to Rabat

but if it was sent after the 10th and already retuned by the 24th that is too fast a turn around

i would say aramex really did not receive it yet as it has taken many 4  to 5 weeks from issued to get to Aramex

BTW  your post says CR1 / IR 1   that is a spouse visa and you say appled for a K1   fiancee visa

Thanks. The consular told him they did send it on the 14th which I find suspect since that was a Saturday. I have another couple friend that went through the same process and got their visa in two days after the case status showed as "issued". I just don't understand the vast differences between individual cases. Once it's issued, why would it take two days for someone, and four WEEKS for another? Where do you see CR1/ IR1, my post states K-1?

  14. My fiance's K-1 visa was approved on 9/10/19. The status of our case changed to issued on 9/12/19. This was his second interview. Before his first interview, we had created the account on USTravelocs.com and filled out the DS-160. During this time, there was no place to register where he wanted his documents to be delivered. After his second interview, they gave him that slip of paper that stated he needed to make sure he was registered. Since we already had an account, I accessed it and chose the Casablanca Aramex for document delivery. We never received a text or email to pick up the passport. He started calling and stopping into the Aramex office starting on 9/17/19. He got a call yesterday, 9/24/19 from the embassy asking why he never picked up his passport because it was sent back to the embassy?? He explained he'd been calling DAILY and they said they didn't have it. The consulate told him they would be sending it back today but now I am concerned they will tell him yet again that they do not have it. What the hell is going on over there??? I don't know who else to reach out to? I have used the US consulate contact form daily and no one responds. The ivcasablanca@state.gov returns an automated response that says you have to call USTraveldocs. I call them, they say they have no update and we'd have to wait 12 working days in order for them to intervene. We have no idea where his passport and visa are. Has ANYONE experience this issue as well????

Thank you! From what my fiance said, they didn't TELL him to send the passport back with the documents, but this letter they handed to him stated that the docs and passport should be sent via courier. The issue I am having is the link on this document to upload the information is not valid for K-1 visas in Morocco so why would they give him this form at all?

Hello again! In looking at that document that my fiance received, (the one I uploaded) it doesn't say 221(g) or DS-5535 anywhere, and neither myself, or my fiance have received an email stating the embassy received the documents, (although I know they did because Aramex showed as delivered on 5/29/19) have you ever seen the document I uploaded? I also sent the documents via email to casablanca_file@state.gov. It said files received, so I am not sure where they actually went. They gave him back his passport when they ask him to send in the documents. We sent his passport back the the documents based on what this letter said. Do you think this is being sent back to USCIS?

Have you been put in AP & given form DS5535? If so, how long until you were given an answer?

If you were put in AP & given form DS5535 from Morocco, please share your story with me.

    -----------------

My husband's interview was scheduled for February 14, 2019. However, on February 13th, he received a call from the Consulate informing him that his interview was canceled and would be rescheduled at a later date. The following Monday, I called the Consulate 1st thing in the morning (their morning) & the man I spoke with said he would speak with the CO & then call my husband. He called my husband within the hour and gave him a new interview date & time. He told my husband March 5, 2019 at 10:30am. He e-mailed me the date and time of March 5th at 12:30pm. Obviously we were confused. We tried calling multiple times, we N E V E R got through.

On March 5, 2019 we went to the Consulate at 10am to inquire on the time. My husband was told to come back at 12:30pm, so he did. We had created a binder to present to the CO at the interview. The binder has divder tabs separating different sections, which are labeled as Civil Documents, Tax & Financial Forms, Tickets (all my plane tickets, passport stamps, train tickets, etc) Communication which shows screenshots of chat logs & video.calls, and.finally Photos. 48 photos inside of photo sleeves. In a separate folder, he had all copies they might ask for & the envelope from his medical exam. He was very prepared and organized.

He had his fingerprints done & he was given the documents that we mailed to to the NVC for the Affidavit of Support packet. Then he went to meet with the CO. He was a middle aged, white, American man. He asked "basic" questions. My husband said he asked a lot of questions about my religion. He asked why I chose to convert to Islam and if I have other friends who also did this. He also asked how many people came to our wedding and why we didn't have a large wedding (traditional) and my husband told him it's because my family wasn't able to attend. He asked if we want kids and how many. He asked if I have plans for the future for myself, my career. My husband told him I want to go to nursing school. He asked many questions about my trips to Morocco. My husband told him I was currently there and that the longest I'd stayed was 90 days. He showed him all my old plane tickets. He asked where we went for our honey moon & my husband answered. He asked my husband what he plans to do for work in the US & my husband told him he plans to find work in a factory until he can find work in his profession (film making). The CO literally tore our binder apart. He removed the sleeves from the rings to look at everything.

My husband said he felt very confident and felt like the interview went great until the CO gave him the Administrative Processing paper & said "we'll call you." He did keep his passport. A few hours later, we were e-mailed the DS5535 form. He completed it & emailed it to the Consulate.

Now we just wait, again. Our priority date is July 5, 2017. I just wish we could start our life. 💔😭 I had to leave Morocco again without my husband by my side.

Did you ever get your visa? If so, how long did it take after you sent the DS-5535? What did it look like? My fiance received a paper but it did not say DS-5535 on it anywhere. They also gave him back his passport and asked him to send the handwritten documents to them via Aramex?

  18. 1 hour ago, butterfly26145 said:

I get the same generic email.  Next mo th will be 3 months.  They say it takes 3 to 4 months.  We already have set the wedding date and found a venue.  I just want him here already it has been 2 months since I last saw him.  I was going to go back next month but I'm going to wait.  I found a good deal on tickets.  I'll just wait and keep sending the email everyday.  Hopefully we will get something soon.

When did you set the wedding date? I hope you have a refundable deposit just in case. You never know how long things can take. I hope that is not the case with you. I have not seen my man for 6 months now. We talk every single day, pretty much all day long on messenger and video chat, but it's not the same. I miss him terribly. I connected with another lady that has been waiting since January of this year. They also have heard nothing. Our paperwork was received by the consulate on February 6, 2019. According to the interview letter in the email documents they forwarded to me on May 14, 2019, the actual letter was dated March 14, 2019. So one month after they received the petition, they scheduled the interview, but we never received that email. By the grace of god, we got the forwarded email 14 days before the interview and we were able to get all the items done, including his medical exam. Just so you know, the fee for the doctor is 400 dirham, but there are other costs. 900 dirham for the chest X-ray, 30 dirham for the blood draw. If he never had the required vaccinations to enter the US, he'll need those. There were two of them, and he will need to pay for them at the pharmacy, that was about 1000 dirham. He will be responsible for going to all these places to collect the results as well, and bring all of it back to the doctor. He was able to do all of this in one day, and walked away with the docs in a sealed envelope that they are not to open, all in one day. Your fiance's court record and police reports expire three months after you receive them, so it's tough because you can't have them translated if you don't know when you have your interview because they could expire.

Where did you look for tickets? I don't know what airport you fly out of, but Norwegian Airlines always has deals to Europe or Spain, then take another small flight from those cities, to Casablanca. I was able to get my last flights, combined total from LAX to Madrid, then Madrid to Casablanca and back home, for $589.00. This was November of last year though so prices are much better. I too am holding off going back because I am confident he will be here by then. :) Pray for us! :)

Thank you for that.  He was worried about the questions about an engagement party.  We had an engagement dinner when I was there in March.  I was thinking of going again for my 3rd time but I figured I would wait.  1st time was almost a month.  2nd time was almost 3 weeks.  Seems to me you guys got approved only have to send those documents.  Just waiting for him to get an email for his intwrview.  I have been emaili g everyday like you.  Our paperwork wad aent to the embassy April 19th.  Good luck

Make sure when you send the email to the embassy, that you include your case number in the subject line. I am not sure if that actually triggered them to email me back or not, but it can't hurt. I am assuming they receive THOUSANDS of emails per week, so something needs to stand out so they know you are already "in process" and not just asking random questions. I am happy to share any information that I have. I really feel like the process is so broken. So much conflicting information out there, and being that you cannot speak to anyone at the actual embassy, it makes it even more difficult. I am praying everyday that this next step is a speedy one. Good luck to you as well!

Thank you abdo1! He brought the documents to Aramex yesterday. The case number was written on a few of the documents, but not all of them, so I hope that's not an issue. He included his passport as well. He did receive a receipt with the tracking number, and I verified this morning that the documents were delivered to the embassy today, at 3:55pm Moroccan time. I am praying this will not be a major delay! All the prayer help anyone can give would be appreciated! Thank you!

He paid in MAD.  Yes you have to send them via an Aramex location. There is one in Casablanca. When they have the interview and they are asked to supply additional documents, they will give them a small white paper with the phone numbers and addresses. I am attaching a screenshot of the document. They did not ask about an engagement party no. Lots of other questions. How did you meet? How old are her kids? Where does she work? Etc.

Label the copies with your case #,  both names and both DOB's in the upper right hand corner and keep a copy of them

i am not sure if you get a receipt from Aramex (others will know) but if you do,  keep it

you should get an email from embassy that the items are received

Thank you for this! You've always been so helpful with your responses! He did take the docs to Aramex. They did not give him a receipt, but the man told him he would text him the information (they were closing) This was today, so I'll make sure he calls them tomorrow and gets the tracking number. I had gotten this message after he already submitted the documents, so not all of them had the case number, and none had the names and DOB's so I hope that's not an issue. I didn't think of the fact that docs could be misplaced. We do have copies though, and I also sent the information to casablanca_files@ustraveldocs.com (I found this email on their website). Not sure if they will do anything with it. I did get a response that "files were received" from this site. Thank you again. I hope this process doesn't take a huge amount of time. I am looking into flights to come back to Morocco (fourth time). It's been six months since my last visit and I miss him so much.

What he received is commonly referred to as a 221(g), request for more information but from the embassy and not USCIS. Your have two items highlighted that the CO needs in order for them to continue processing your case. Get the documents and return them to the embassy per their instructions. This is a simple matter and can be taken care of quickly.

221(g) - Applications Pending Further Action

    Section 221(g) - Hold

Refusal under Section 221(g) means that essential information is missing from an application or that an application has been placed on administrative hold. The consular officer who interviews you will tell you at the end of your interview if action on your case is being suspended under 221(g) pending further information. The officer will either tell you that the case has to undergo administrative processing, or will ask you to submit additional information.

If further information is required, the officer will tell you how to submit that information. As part of this process, the applicant is given a written letter and will have 12 months from the date of application to submit the requested documents without having to pay a new application fee. After one year, an application refused under Section 221(g) is terminated per Section 203(e).

If the Embassy requested additional information, you will submit those documents via the 2go courier service. Please read the 221(g) submission process for more information.

Thank you! Do you think this is the same for Morocco? The links you gave are for the Philippines. I am just worried. Thank you for you the response.
