    Question!!!!

my usps digestion email said I was Receiving my physical letter with the interview date on Thursday, i went today to check my mailbox and there’s nothing in it, I’m afraid they lost it!

Can an i bring a printout copy from the website? Or should I request a copy?

    This is is frustrating.....

Yes you can bring a printout. That’s what I did.

Yes I file taxes every year. Currently not employed but I have not file the taxes for 2019 yet.

I don't think you are going to have a problem with putting unemployed on your application. If you don't want to put unemployed you can put self-employed and start driving for uber or lyft. Just an idea.. BTW I also had some periods of unemployment, they didn't ask about that.

  3. Had my interview in Orlando on December 3rd. It took about 30min. First the officer asked me the questions from the test and then moved to the application. I had couple of changes but there was no problem and I was approved right away. I changed my work, I traveled outside US for two weeks and I got divorced since I applied in April. The officer was super nice. She told me I will be scheduled for the oath on December 5th but there was a problem with the system and they didn’t give me the papers for the oath.

After waiting outside for couple of hours a supervisor came to talk to me and told me that he will give me a call when they fix the issue.

I didn’t have my ceremony on the 5th as I was told. On the 6th the supervisor called me at 10 am and told me to be at the office for the oath ceremony at 12:30. Still don’t know what went wrong, but the most important thing is that I am now a citizen.

Thank you all for your help!

What’s the reasoning for taking IRS transcripts? On my notice it says to bring three things.

    1. my green card

    2. the letter

    3. another form of ID such as passport of driver’s license.

I googled “oath ceremony dates Orlando Florida” and a website with all the dates came up.

    Hello @Zmoney,

congratulations on getting you interview scheduled!

About the tax transcripts:   I am going to get them because my lawyer told me that I need to.

Also on the USCIS website I found a list of documents we should bring to the interview and the tax returns are on that list.

    • Your Green Card (formally known as Form I-551, Permanent Resident Card)
    • A photocopy of the front and back of your Green Card
    • Your driver’s license or state-issued identification card
    • All current and expired passports or travel documents
    • Copies of your tax returns for the past five years (or three years if you are married to a U.S. citizen)

Hi Your question was not clear, but I printed the online application just in case, brought with me the orginal documents like the Marriage CFT and the BC
nothing was asked, only he asked me for the green card :)

    Thanks for your answer! :)

I was wondering if you need the original interview appointment notice or oath ceremony appointment notice that comes in the mail (or some other important documents they send you, I’m  not sure what they send usually..).

I know that before they mail you a document they upload a copy of it in the online profile so I was thinking if it is possible to use the copies instead of the originals?

    thanks!

  6. Hello everyone! Hope you guys are having a great weekend!

Congratulations to all the citizens and those who passed their interview!

I have a question: is there any document that arrives in the mail (the original) that you need to go through the entire process or the copies that are in our online profile also work?

    Thanks in advance!

Have a great rest of the weekend!

    Hi Guys,

I know you guys are waiting to hear my story. First of all I passed my test, so that's a  big relief. Since my I751 is pending the officer said he can't update my profile to "approved", but he was a super nice person, he said one of his colleague have to go through it and approve, the second he approve my I751 he said he'll approve my N400. But he printed the results for me and said he'll probably schedule my oath for August 23.

First he asked me to read " who can vote?"

Then asked me to write "citizens can vote"

Ask six questions, I can't remember the order, but he asked the following questions,

    1) What is one promise you make when you become a US citizen?

    2) How many senators there?

    3) What is the "rule of the law"

    4) What's the war between North and South?

    5) Who vetoes the bills?

    6) What happened in the constitution convention center?

Then he went through some general "yes" and "no" questions and ask where i work. I said I worked as an Assistant Professor in University where my field office is, then he said he's an alumnus there couple of years ago. Then he changed my name legally and said I have to do it in court, not sure how that going to happen since he didn't tell anything after that? Anyone have any idea?

We chit chat a bit and said my I751 will approve soon since we have a kid and that's one of biggest bona fide evidence. We checked in around 1:25 and interview scheduled for 1:45, we were out by 2:15. It was pretty quick and easy. Officer said I'll get a mail with approval.

I was married for 3 years and when I file I751 last year March and until this year April nothing happened, (not even my fingerprints were updated) i went ahead and applied N400, it went pretty fast since i applied in April and I am thankful that i decided to take the chance.

Good luck for everyone waiting for their turn and i'm sure everyone will have a happy ending.

PS: My folder with all the material i sent over 4 years were there with this office. I even saw my mail envelop that i send last year, everything was neatly clipped and organized.

    Thanks for sharing and congratulations!!!

    Hi everyone.

I filed online on 4/3 and have completed my biometric appointment on 4/23. My local office is Columbus, OH. I've added myself to the spreadsheet.

I do have a question. My 10 year green card is about to expire in October this year. On the USCIS site, it said my estimated completion time is March 2020.  I know of 2 people that completed their naturalization process within 4 months last year in the same local office, and the timeline in VJ also show about 3-5 months - but of course this is just a small sample. I don't have plan for out of country travel this year. So should I renew the green card, or just wait out the N400 process?

If you apply for citizenship more than 6 months before your green card expires, you probably will not have to renew your green card. If you apply for citizenship when your green card is going to expire in less than six months, you may need to apply to renew your green card while you are waiting to be approved for citizenship.

Just did my biometrics!!! Walk-in was not an issue at all. Everything went smoothly, thankfully! 😄

Did you bring the original notice? Did you have to explain why are you there before the date assigned? I applied yesterday and I was wondering if I get the notice online tomorrow should I print it and go with it. Thanks

Yay:-) On your dhs account https://myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov/

underneath your estimated completion date, there should be 3 tabs - the 3rd is documents. There will be a link for your receipt notice that you can click on for a pdf file. If it doesn't show up yet, just wait a few days and it will. I just was able to access mine today and I applied on 4/23. The system has been having issues. Also, nothing was emailed to me either, I think they just mean the pdf thing:-)

Awesome! Thanks and good luck! :)

Hey guys so I was finally able to view my biometrics letter on the website... question: should I wait until I get the physical letter to do a walk in and hope for the best? I live about 10 minutes away from the local office so I really just want to get it over with (appointment’s scheduled for the 17th)... I’m considering showing up tomorrow morning. What do y’all think?

I would defiantly go. Worst case scenario you are loosing 20 min of your time :)

    @EmsVnt

If you're going through a "Lawyer or Representative" that's his/ her job to fill out the N400, signed G-28, and represent you at the interview.

It's my assumption that you have a complicated case. If not, why don't you do it yourself? It's easy and will save you the "$$$". Most people on here didn't hire an immigration lawyer; from start to finish.

If this is a complicated case, then an experienced immigration lawyer is the way which I believe you have hired already.

Thank you for your answer. I think I am going to file by myself. Fingers crossed! :)

I am submitting marriage certificate and both sides of the green card.  Any suggestions for additional documents I should submit? I am a resident for more than 5 years, married but separated (not legally yet). Never left the states since I first came here.

Do you think I should submit birth certificate, passport copy from my country, I-94..

By the way do you know and can you recommend any services such as application review or something like that? Thanks!
