I've experienced AP at NVC stage when I add derrivatives and asked for a change of interview location. When in AP they won't review your civil docs until it clears out but I think every case will be different and depends on what types of AP.

to be honest this is a thread hijack. NO I think the order matters since the DS-260 is the visa application and should be done with in a year of interview.
I didn't realized that, apologise for this and probably the mod can move this to a new thread?

pay AOS fee-> wait 1 year -> submit AOS documents -> wait 1 year -> pay IV fee -> submit DS-260 and civil documents within 12 months so that they're current for interview. Bring new AOS to interview.
2 years realistically is the longest you should probably drag this out safely.
Thanks for you feedback, I read on other thread that it is possible to delay as long as we want as long we keep in contact either with NVC/embassy at least once a year

Depends on how you choose to extend the time. Once you pay the IV fee yiu have a year to submit thr ds-260, unless you want to pay it again.
So do you think it's going to work like this: PD current --1 year -->pay IV fee --1 year--> submit ds260 --1year--> aos docs submission --1year-> civil docs submission. CMIIW
Thanks

You can submit the documents and payments quite slowly and drag this out several years but as mentioned, make sure he doesn't age out.
My sister also wants to drag out her application for several years, do you think by submitting 1 docs at a time will extend the time limit for 1 year for each docs submission?

What is the average time for NVC to respond to your document submission stating if the documents were accepted or rejected???
I'll say in between 18-21 days but can be longer than that.
I've resubmitted 1 doc and it's been over 3 weeks they haven't touch the file. Been trying to speak with a supervisor today but no luck, might try again tomorrow

Call them again, and request them to connect the call to a supervisor. Then refused me thrice on same day. 4th time luckily I got a kind representative, he forwarded the call and I talked to a supervisor. Got documentarily qualified mail on the same day. Trust me, talking to a supervisor helps. We had been waiting after document submission, it was outside normal processing time, they asked us to wait another 6weeks for supervisor review 🙄.And then we requested to talk to a supervisor n it helped. Good Luck to you. Everything will be fine.
Is it possible to talk to a supervisor? Don't know about that lol.... so when they reject to forward the call, did you just keep trying to callback again and again?

Hi, at least you've got email from them. I'm still waiting for them to review my affidavit form as well and it's been over 3 weeks.
Frustrating but good luck for both of us

I hope youre right.
However, someone who had PD 22Sept2006 was interviewed in April. No interviews since then (past 22sept) none even scheduled for July. So 3 months gone without any iv (VB was Nov 2006 in May 1). How is it possible that all of a sudden Embassy in Mumbai doesnt have any slots although they scheduled 22Sept in April.
There is more to that than you and I know.
BTW, where did you read that iv must take place within 3 months of VB being current?
If you look at monthly issuance of visa stats on https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/legal/visa-law0/visa-statistics.html
Mumbai Consulate always issued over 100 of F3 category visa every month, so you probably just need to wait for that long queue.

Hi,
I have paid the fees and just after that status of the payments was “in-process”. After one hour it changed back and it looks like I can pay again - status is “pay now”. Is it normal or I should try again?
I think it's better to wait for 1-2 days and look at your bank account if the payments has been successfully going through.

5 hours to go before end of their working day, let's see will they review my docs or not. today is my 3 week mark.......
-
based on my experience, you'll need legal resident status in that other country such as work or student visa and it'll take a minimum of 3-4 weeks for the process.

i actually compressed the original .pdf file and when i did , it could not be edited it any more as per their requirement and it did not need to be unzipped to make it easier.
I reckon, the problem comes when you fill the form electronically. The form file is "secured" to begin with and you can see it on the title when you open it on PDF reader, so if it's still showing that then it's mean the file is secured and therefore NVC always reject it.
My recommendation is you print it as a new pdf to remove the security lock from the original file or print it manually and re-scanned it.

hopefully not gonna take over a month as it says on their website. I've resubmitted since the 20th and has been escalated to a supervisor review for a week but they still haven't touched my case....
