If your case has moved from immigrant to non-immigrant, the CEAC site often times out when trying to look up the non-immigrant case from your immigrant case # (or at least it did in February around Anastasia's interview).

You can look for it under non-immigrant using the number that starts with A  from your DS160; this is a lot faster and less likely to time out.

I dont even know where the DS-160 is.  Would you help me locate it please.

This is a long process, hang in there, you're almost done.  Waiting is hard, especially when it seems to those of us wanting to be with our loved one that it should be so simple to send documents, they say five days then you don't hear anything, etc.  If the interview was only a week ago, be patient, you should hear something very soon.  Good luck, you should be together in the very near future.

Thank your kind and confident words. it just seems like, my case s a little unusual. because now when I sign into CEAC, to retreive an update. I enter number, and it doesnt even process to the next site to confirm or not. it just sits in Limbo and now the website looks like it is either down or locked up, but it gives me nothing, I would like to add , when I research and ask questions about this delima.  I haven't seen this happen in my research, to anyone on these sites. If anyone can tell me what is going on with te CEAC site, I would appreciate it.  if you get my grift. well anyway, tank you mucho grasias, y fiancee and self really appreciate it.  😅

If they kept her passport, it usually is a good sign that they may approve once they have everything they need. Your USCIS status doesn't have any update at this point, though. You have to check the CEAC site with your case number.

thank you,  I checked the status on CEAC, and all it has n updated info. but thank you for the encouragement.  the email I just received from the embassy.

    Dear applicant,

Thank you for contacting the Immigrant Visa Unit. The Embassy is not in charge of the delivery process, therefore we cannot provide a waybill number.
The delivery process takes about 2 weeks and you will get your waybill number on your personal website at https://ais.usvisa-info.com/es-co/iv/ approximately 5 working days after shipment.

Happy Easter to you as well.

It's understandable that you are immediately frustrated----the entire immigration process step-by-step can be frustrating as well as unnerving.  And there's definitely a "learning curve" when it comes to getting everything needed to be done when bringing family members to the US.

No one here is judging you, we're asking questions because it helps us as members to try to help you determine IF it has been denied, and possibly WHY.

I am sorry for my ignorance, it is something i struggle with.  feel backed in a corner and insecure, I am in fight and protect mode. I dont want to turn heads in my direction, i want to disappear, trust me, most veterans dont want this attention, thank you happy easter

mikebob - you won’t get any argument from me.

It is unjust and nearly everybody on this thread is trying to help you with a practical solution to the problem our government has given your fiancée and you.

That the embassy kept her passport makes us wonder.  Do you know for sure that the visa was denied? Perhaps the embassy has not decided.  Perhaps it will want more information.

When I see words like “ receive packet and passport” that tells me they plan to approve the visa.  The packet refers to a sealed envelope which must stay sealed and is opened only by a US CBP Officer at point of entry.

    Hang in there.

thank you so much, my PTSD and stress levels are driving me crazy. thank you

This thread is very near and dear to my heart since I too am in the process of obtaining a visa for my fiance, (and her children), in Colombia. However, you can toss me in with the last 2 poster since I find it odd they kept her, a citizen of Colombia, passport! From what I have read here on Visajourney, if it is outright denied, they return it to you when the interview is concluded.

Si exactly. se is a great lady and is very respectful and works for a living, has a income and is always happy. she is crying now and we both are struggling with this, i am a retired veteran honorable, she is a therapist. no criminal history, we lived together 4 years in colombia. no reason to deny.

they took her records and passport and said they cannot approve it now, but you will receive the packet and passport, in 5 days. no real reason or answer. just said 5 days will be delivered. really strange and not the 3 ways it can be processed, approved, denied or administrative. I a so angry now, because they give us nothing to work with. now we wait and then hopefully we can move forward, but all in all. this is a disaster right now for our relationship, because we are stressed and confused and blaming each other. so be sure to demand some kind of awnser, when yo get there, because this is just wrong. you can write me, anytime, I will give you all the knowledge i can. happy easter

  14. Hello, Please explain to me, what is going on. I am really not happy here and thats not good for any of us. so as calmly as I can, I ask again. and be as respectful as I can, can you please explain this to me, Why,  Liliana my fiance goes to the K1 Fiance interview, and she gets grilled about a change of address, which I furnished everybody a few months ago. then she sits there for a few hours and was told that they cant approve the visa and to wait five days for her documents and passports to be delivered to the embassy, in Medellin for pick up. Is this  a procedure that the consulate follows?  I see that in most cases the immigrant was told they were approved and signed a few forms and to pick up there visas at the location provided, in a bout 5 days. Or there passport was handed back and they were givin a slip of paper saying they were on administrative review and that could take up to 60 days.  Then there is the straight denial and they hand your passport back and say sorry denied.

I dont see the win or lose in our situation and it puts us in a very awkward situation. We deserved some type of confirmation or answer. I dont think anybody would see this as a professional and courteous way to treat an American veteran, who proved his worthiness and loyalty to our great nation. I am very unhappy right now as you can see. please take 10 minutes of your day and explain to me what we are going to do to remedy this situation, thank you
