Hey, yeah same thing.. i came on a Cr1 .. and i checked it on the DS-260
Do you mind sharing how many days it took for you to receive the residence card, after entry?

Hello everyone,
i finally received my permanent resident card.. now.. i still didn‘t get my Ssn number.. i did apply for one tho ☝🏼
should i just go to the ssn office and ask for it? Does the ssn card usually come before the „green card“?
anybody know?
You should just visit the office, don't waste your time calling them, the operator will just give you a "standard" answer.
Did you enter via CR-1 or K-1 visa?
My wife entered under CR-1, and you are supposed to get your SSN within 3 weeks upon entry, if you checked the option in DS-260.
But three weeks passed by, we didn't see anything thing in the mail.
So we decided to go to the Social Security office, the lady there was helpful to process our application.

It all depends where is the destination after ONT international airport and what time of the day. If you arrive morning and your destination is towards LA city, Burbank, Pasadena, ALtadena, etc.... traffic is bad. Most people coming from Rancho Cucamonga, ONT and other San bernardino county cities are driving to go to work in the morning.
I’ve always arrived at LAX every 8-8:30PM LA time and drive up to Pasadena. There is traffic but not that bad.
If you don’t mind, which exact city is your final destination? They might also be confused of LA city and LA county.
My final destination is in Arcadia, which is like between LAX and ONT.

not sure why first and last as you need to continue onto to La and show that to the immigration officer
Ontario is a long way from LA
anyway , Ontario does customs and immigration for the US
Ontario International Airport is actually based in Ontario, LA.
Not the one in Canada 🤣 Sorry got you confused.

Planning the same! LAX is so busy. When I left a week ago, flew out of ONT and wow! The parking and airport is not crazy busy! I believe we can it is listed as port of entry https://www.cbp.gov/contact/ports/ontario-airport
will e-mail CBP to be sure.
Yeah, I saw Ontario on the list!
Can you please share once you have anything from CBP?
Thank you!

Is ontario your first stop in the states?
My final destination would be LA, so Ontario will be my first and last stop.

You can enter through any international airport, no matter where you are heading to in the US after that.... with the introduction of many automated CBP lanes , many large airports are a lot more efficient than they have previously been. If you take a look at the POE reviews you can get a sense of current entries and what people have experienced
Thanks for the clarification!

If we are moving to California, does anyone know if I can go through the immigration process in Ontario International Airport rather than LAX?
I heard the immigration line in LAX is just too long...would like to try other international airport instead.
Thanks in advance!

Hi guys,
For someone who is entering into US through a immigrant visa, can we land in any international airport other than LAX?
I heard the immigration line in LAX is crazy, so I'm considering switching to Ontario International Airport.
Thank you!

Because you were correct. The list I posted came in an email directly from <VisaIV-AIT@state.gov>
Just below the list, it says "Before your appearance at AIT, please visit www.ustraveldocs.com/tw to register for your document delivery. Your appointment will be cancelled if you do not complete the registration for your document delivery. This letter must be presented upon your arrival at this office on the appointment date. "
Do you mind sharing how many days it took from NVC interview letter to the day you received the letter from VisaIV-AIT@state.gov?

Is this what you are looking for? https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/iv-dv-supplemental/TAI-Taipei-042619.pdf
It has 2 sections....one is English and one is Chinese.
and this might help: https://photos.state.gov/libraries/ait-taiwan/171414/iv/ait-221-list-of-panel-physicians-march-6-2015.pdf
Thanks for finding this for me, missleman!
This should works.
From what I saw from others, you first received an interview letter from NVC stating the interview date, and then AIT will email you a instruction letter(second interview letter) telling you what to bring and instruction to register your delivery address. This "second interview letter" is what I'm waiting for now.

Hello guys,
My interview consulate is in Taipei, Taiwan.
I just received the interview letter from NVC on 6/17/19, anyone know when I can expect to receive the second interview letter (in Chinese) from AIT?
Also, can I go ahead and schedule for medical examination even though I haven’t receive the second letter from AIT?Thanks for your help!

Hi everyone,
my wife got her visa internview and currently i am trying to register her for document delivery, but when i am signing up for it i dont see the option for CR1, however, i do see the option for IR1.
She will be attending her internview at Islamabad, Pakistan. when talking to NVC they suggested that i reach out to the consulate in that country for an answer. their isnt anyway i can contact them through a phone, i can only submit an online inqury.
If someone has gone through this and has an idea what should i do please let me know.
thanks
What is your marriage date? Perhaps you have reached the two years period by now, you are automatically entitled to IR1 instead of CR1?

You should just hold on to that. You shouldn't have amended until she gets here. That way you can amen all the years married. So just wait till she gets to US and amend with correct information.
Too late now....😨😨
I will submit an explanation to IRS and see what they says

Thank you so much for replying! Does the green card then replace the visa pasted into the passport?
Yes, it does.
Your husband will no longer need that visa once he's here in the States.
Congrats on finishing everything! My wife is still waiting for the interview letter....

Hi,
My husband just received his CR-1 visa. I was wondering why it says that it will expire in 6 months. The date is November 22, 2019. Is this because he should have his green card in hand by then? Or is this a mistake on his visa?
Thank you!
Hello,
To my understanding, you husband has to enter into the States before Nov. 22, 2019, otherwise, the visa expires, and you have to start the immigration process all over again.
Once you passed the final interview at any Port of Entry, the green card will mail it your registered address within 3 weeks.

Good morning everyone,
I filed an amended tax return as Married filing separately during the NVC stage.
I put my wife as NRA(Non-Resident Alien) because I never applied a SSN or ITIN number for her, but now IRS sent me a mail asking for her SSN or ITIN.
Should I just tell IRS my wife is in the process of waiting for her interview letter, and she won't have a SSN until she enters the States? If so, will they reject my amended tax return since nothing can be done at this point?
Thanks!

After CC, next is interview letter. They won't send you a letter/email showing the actual date they send it to the embassy. You will be able to track it's movement on Ceac after getting your interview letter. Usually it says "in transit" and once it reaches the embassy it says "Ready" or "At xyz country"
Got it, thanks a lot!
-
Hello everyone,
After I received the CC email from NVC, would I get another email showing the actual date they sent it to my embassy?
or next email is the interview letter?
Thanks

Name change after naturalization?
in Passports, etc. - What to do now that you are a US citizen
Posted
My wife has recently passed her citizenship test. When she asked for a name change, the officer told her they will not be able to do it at this time due to COVID, and asked my wife to do it at the court instead.
We are in Los Angeles area, California, and I checked to file a name change in the court, is around USD$400-$500 here and a lot of troubles. Anyone experienced this can share some inputs please?
Thanks in advance.
