  1. Hello, I came to see how things were progressing on your end with the NVC. I noticed that you heard back them a little over a week ago. With the I-864, if your wife's total income was lower than required, your mother-in-law would need to be the co-sponsor. When my brother petitioned for his wife and son (also from Nigeria), my mom and dad were co-sponsors even though my brother lives in the same household.

We finally received my husband's passport which I sent to him. We were able to gather the necessary things and got everything submitted. I called the NVC yesterday morning to double check that they received our stuff (the status on the ceac site looked as if we hadn't), and this morning we got the email about being "Documentarily Qualified."

Hopefully, there will be no more delays in the process for you and your wife! Godspeed!

Alright dear. It's nice to hear from you again. I will urge my wife to make that call after next week Tuesday, if we don't hear from them. What's the best number to call to get across to NVC? What time is the best time to call and get a response? I am hopeful that NVC will respond to us without us having to call them. So now that you have been DQ'd, I believe you should receive your IL within the next 2 weeks, going by other timelines here. Then as soon as you receive your IL, your husband should go for his medical examination at the US designated hospital. But before the IL comes, I advise you to inform your husband to go and get the necessary immigrant vaccinations at a local hospital now. He should do this now becos if he waits till when the I.L comes and he goes to the U.S designated hospital for the M.E, he will be required to provide evidence of his vaccination history and if he can't provide it, he will be required to get it at the US designated hospital during his M.E and there he will pay 3-4 times the real cost of the vaccinations he hasn't taken and provided evidence for, in addition to the medical examination fee. I have done that already.. I have gotten the required vaccinations from a local hospital here in Lagos and I have a vaccination record with me. All I'm waiting for now, is to be DQ'd.. and then my I.L will follow. Alright, that's all for now. I don't even know your name. Are you in Florida? My wife is in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Bye for now.

My name is Camille and I'm in Jackson, Mississippi. Fort Lauderdale sounds like a fun place. I just passed this information to my husband to get the vaccinations done before he goes for the Medical Examination. That is helpful info and will save us time and money. He is also in Lagos.  I called 603-334-0700.. They open at 9am, and it's best to call in the mornings. Your wife may have to dial multiple times, but keep calling and press "1" for English. There's a method to calling. lol I waited an hour and 20 minutes before speaking to a person. I got the following from one of the topics in a forum:

      keep calling, when you hear

"thank you for calling the NVC, because to the high number of calls..." HANG UP

      call back

When you hear  "please be advised..." you should wait to speak to operator (Again a waited 1.5 hour before speaking with operator)

Make sure she has the LGS# on hand. I've memorized ours I've typed it so much. :)

      Godspeed!

      Thanks for the info..

I'm Arinze and I reside here in Lagos. Hopefully, I will be in Florida between September and October, going by the timelines. Where in Lagos, is your husband? I can refer him to the hospital in Ikeja, here in Lagos - where he can get the vaccininations at an affordable cost. The same hospital where I got mine. You can give him my number: 08063878947 and ask him to give me a call.
