  1. Hey there! I haven’t found an actual list of needed items people recommend for their immigrating spouses so thought I’d ask if we could get a list of suggestions put together or the link if maybe I’m just not finding a thread that has this already. I know there’s a how did you welcome your spouse thread but I’m looking for more of a basic list of items that immigrating spouse needs.

My hubby is coming to Wisconsin from India and this is all I can think of so I need some help with suggestions of basic things people need when move here lol.

    Sweatshirts/warm jammie pants

    Socks

    US Phone charger

    Winter coat/boots

    Gloves/hat

  2. Sidd posted his interview review if anyone wants to read it, his username is Missid.
His visa was in administrative processing on the 4th and today shows issued so we’re thinking he should get notification tomorrow that it’s ready to get picked up ( we chose the option of picking it up since he lives in greater Mumbai area and we don’t trust the mail stem lol.

We’ve decided on June 8 as the day I bring him home. Between my daughter graduating high school and the notice Sidd needs to give his employer, there’s just a lot going on right now that makes going to India and giving Sidd the welcome home he deserves, not possible.

Also, cost of plane tickets on United if you got flight credit have skyrocketed, like double the price. Idk if this is their way of screwing us over that have flight credit or what but if you got United credit, be prepared for a price shock.

So I’ll be lurking around, try to answer questions and really look forward to seeing some of you getting your interview dates so I can cell with you!!

  3. When my husband went for his interview he said there was around 200 people there all doing interviews for various visa types.
The consulate sends NVC a list of how many visa files it wants for every visa category each month to fill the available visa interview slots they have available. Some months they want more of one type of visa class, it’s up to the head honchos at consulate to decide what sorta visa groups they want to interview the next month. Build back better has nothing to do with it, it’s about the amount of workers and available time slots at consulate.

    Hi All

I was going through all my documents and realised that I don’t have any vaccine record apart from COVID vaccine as I was born in another country.!

does anyone had experience taking Tetanus/ MMR vaccine at visamedical.? Do they always have it in stock .?  As I may have to get train back home on same day just in case they say they don’t have it stock.!

    Please advice.!

My husband didn’t have any vaccines except Covid shots. He’s in India but I think it’s the same regardless of where you are.
These are the shots he got-

    TdaP
    MMR
    Varicella
    Influenza

In India at least, you have to be vaccinated with US approved vaccines which the approved clinics have so don’t worry about not getting them, they’re very common vaccines😁

The chicken pox one is not available in the UK from what I can read. Thank you!

They import US vaxxs to the approved clinics cuz at least in India, has to be American vaccines in order to be considered vaxxed. Maybe different for you tho since not in a 3rd world country. Medical was more filling out paperwork and waiting than anything for my husband so don’t be worried bout it, just a basic checkup😁

Congratulations Missy & Sidd! So nerve wrecking this whole experience. Our QD was June 8, 2021, so we have a while more to go but I love hearing what you each post about the questions, etc for us to prepare. I was able to fly out to see my husband in November when India opened back up, and I brought our entire file with us. We spent a whole afternoon putting all the originals in order and into plastic sleeves to add to a binder. I brought a binder from the States, forgetting about the paper size difference so we did have to buy another one in India. We also have pictures from our relationship so far, and have included our correspondence through the years since my husband was in Hong Kong when we first met. My husband was told that the Indian Police Clearance Certificate was only valid for 6 months at the police stations so he has been re-applying for a new PCC every six months since we started our journey back in April of 2020. For the Hong Kong one we ordered one last year but were told it would be mailed directly to the Embassy. We just hope that truly happened because we have no way of checking until he gets his interview date.

Don’t worry too much about making sure you got perfect relationship proofs, the only documents they took from Sidd the entire time was his passport, PCC and medical printout paper and only thing CO looked at was our picture album. I remember someone saying when we first started this process that it’s quality over quantity.
There are some people getting interviews that were DQed in Feb 2021 so it won’t be long for you guys now!!

    Hi guys,

So, I've been trying to prepare for my medical exam, and I have a few questions about it, if someone would be able to help. I am 31, so looking at the list for the UK requirements, I only need Tdap and MMR (I already have 3 doses for covid). Is that correct or am I missing something? Also, I know I had at least one of those done in Italy. Would that record be ok to show or should it be translated and so on?

    Thank you

My hubby is in India and just had his medical a week ago. He had no vaccine history except for Covid shots and this is what he was given, he’s your age.

    Tdap

    MMR

Chicken pox shot, I won’t spell the shot name right lol

    Flu shot

So glad for you guys ☺️ and thank you for all the shared information...it will really help us...enjoy your time together now...we have all waited so long, and happy news like that gives us hope.

    Thanks!!
Sidd and I are on opposite sides of the world and he’s gotta give a 2 month notice b4 quitting his job so it’ll be a few months b4 we’re together yet but we at least have an end date now.

He said there was like 200-250 ppl there for interviews, he may have been exaggerating some cuz of his excitement but regardless, they’re doing lotta interviews each day so hopefully it won’t be long for all of you!!!

  9. Sidd’s approved!!!♥️♥️♥️🥰🥰🥰

He said it was way easier than he expected and the guy that interviewed him was super laidback and made him feel comfortable.

Sidd didn’t realize it till the end but CO pulled the congratulations you’ve approved paper outta our file so decision must be tentatively decided prior to interview.

Sidd brought an album of us that basically told our story in 50 pictures. He did a really good job putting it together, like you can feel the emotions and he said the CO went through the entire album, asking questions & laughing cuz there’s some really odd pictures in there like me sleeping and drooling, both of us bawling at the airport, etc. Sidd said he pretty much could tell he was approved after CO went through album. I had made scrapbook pgs of all of our relationship proof so our file woulda been like a story for the people that looked at it and Sidd finished it off with an amazing photo album that told the same story but with different pictures. Not sure if that made a difference or not but it apparently worked for us ♥️

They’ll accept a PCC that’s less than 2 yrs old but prefer if you have a current one. They told Sidd he had the most recently issued one there, he hasn’t even had it in his possession for 24 hours😂

He’ll post a review in the near future, right now he needs to let this sink in.

I told him the last time I left that I refused to leave India without him ever again. After 4 long years of being together, I finally get to bring Sidd home♥️🥰

    Hello,

I am about to apply for my husband for spouse visa, he is currently in India. I was told he will need a new passport too with my name on it? Is it true? I never heard anything in US regarding that but I just want to make sure Its not correct, his passport doesn't expire until 2028 so I don't see the reason to get a new passport already just because he got married. I'd really appreciate a response. ❤️

YEP😂 The reason for this is cuz the won’t give your hubby his PCC without your name in his passport, we went through this exact scenario when my hubby went to get his PCC for NVC and found this out lol. His passport was brand spanking new and needed a new one lol.
You can apply for 130 with the passport he’s got and when he gets his new one, just go and update it on your application or after you get 130 approved, then have him get new passport with your name in it and use the new passport # at NVC stage.
Hopefully this helps! He’ll definitely need to get your name it passport tho unfortunately or he won’t get his PCC.

  11. Sidd just got called into the Consulate…..I’m shaking from the excitement…or maybe it’s the 2.5 pots of black coffee I’ve drank so that I can stay awake till he gets out lol.

So there is apparently a locker thingy inside Consulate that for a fee, you can lock your phone/purse in. This was something we weren’t sure of since all the info says there’s not a place to store your phone but security guard told Sidd that there is, for a fee lol. I’ll let y’all know how much it cost once I know, our call was cut short by them calling people in.

I was about to create a new thread asking about this but I'm glad to see one so recent.

I'm in a similar situation. All of our documents were accepted on January 25th. My wife (US citizen) had uploaded her tax return (w-2 forms) which was also accepted however on January 25th, NVC left a note asking us to submit her Tax Transcript from the IRS website. I read that a Tax Return is okay to submit but the Tax Transcript is reviewed more efficiently. We immediately uploaded the transcript on the same day. It has been just over a week and we haven't heard anything.

Concerned that we would end up right at the back of the line again, I called NVC today. I was on hold for an hour and a half. I was told by the customer service rep to refer to the NVC Timeframe page on their website which as of right now says they are reviewing documents submitted on October 26th. This would mean we are at the back of the line. I confirmed with him that even for an additional document submission where the rest have already been accepted, we still go all the way to the back? He said "yes, it's the same for everyone".

@Siddsgal seeing your response has given me some hope that it doesn't take this long. I'm hoping some more members on this forum respond with their timeframe for submissions of additional documents just in case your situation was a one-off for whatever reason.

Does it show accepted or submitted for her tax info? They don’t always let you know if something changes.

I agree, wish more ppl would give more details about what they’ve gone through so that it can help others know what to expect.
It’s great to be able to come here and get answers or suggestions but it’s even more great if you can try to answer someone else’s question while here asking your own.

NVC was moving cases fast when we got DQed cuz they were one of the few places actually still running at the time. I really hope it wasn’t just a fluke and that what I’m saying to y’all is actually accurate 🥴

  13. 1 minute ago, EmTi said:

I think there is a lot of confusion about submitting new documents. In my case, submitting new documents THEY request. And okay once DQ'd I won't submit anything!! LOL.

As of right now your case is still considered open at NVC, you can add as many documents or proofs as you want until they send you an email saying they’ve accepted and document qualified your case. I wouldn’t go uploading a ton of stuff cuz that’s just more they gotta look through and time wasted but a PCC is considered a civil document which is something they’ll look at right away so they can get you DQed and put your case into the ready for interview pile.
In our case, I’m on permanent disability so don’t have tax transcripts so I had to explain why I didn’t have tax transcripts for AOS. I resubmitted the exact same thing that got me an email from them and it was accepted the next day. So my deal was more tricky than just a civil document and it still was accepted next day, you guys don’t got anything to worry bout😄

  14. 56 minutes ago, EmTi said:

I pray that is the case.

I’m not sure where the belief came that you go to back of the line at NVC when uploading documents, that may be the case at USCIS with 130 stuff but NVC doesn’t do that, least not anymore if they use to.
Once you’ve been DQed, don’t submit anything more to them till AFTER you get your interview date, that can cause your interview date to get pushed back. Once you get your date tho your case is at the Consulate so you can upload the current tax transcripts or whatever documents may be new between being DQed and getting interview date. More important than uploading new ones tho, bring the new tax transcripts or other legal documents with you if you have them.

  15. 2 minutes ago, EmTi said:

Well we submitted our whole packer Oct 30 so we were waiting to be DQ'd this week. So when they contacted us yesterday we thought we were DQ'd, but instead we were notified we needed to submit the document. So that's why I am wondering will it go back to waiting months again.

Nope, they’re working on your case, get them the PCC and you’ll be DQed pretty quick after that.
Have you uploaded PCC yet? If you have, does it say submitted or accepted?

  16. 9 minutes ago, EmTi said:

I have a similar issue I  am wondering about. All of our documents were accepted but we had to resubmit the Police Certificate. Will it take just a few days to review since everything else was accepted or will we go to back of the line where it could take months?

You probably won’t be notified by NVC after submitting PCC till you get DQed if that was last document they needed. Long as it says accepted next to everything you’re good to go.

So looking at our case, we were notified on October 7th bout them needing something from me and they accepted it on October 8th.
Then on December 4th we uploaded Sidds PCC cuz we didn’t have it till then and we were DQed on Dec 15th.
I can only speak from our experience but that was how long it took for us. You don’t go to back of the line. NVC moves pretty fast.

    Hi

I got a mail on 19th Nov 2021 that NVC has the document they need and my case is qualified, Now NVC is scheduling my Interview.

can anyone who is recently got his or her interview date, i really want to know how much time nvc take time schedule interview.

its urgent. please reply if anyone knows about this.

We got our interview date in Jan and they gave us 15 day notice so be prepared lol.
We were DQed December 15, 2020

Due to Mumbai Consulates lockdowns, working with minimal staff and the insane backlogs it took over a year for us to get interview date but they seem to be moving faster now.
Unless things change drastically, I’d plan on at least 6 more months b4 getting interview date but don’t take my word as gold, I’m just estimating based on current timeframes. Also, don’t wait till last minute to be prepared, get everything in order now in case they suddenly give you a date, we weren’t prepared and it’s been a crazy stressful 2 weeks that coulda been avoided lol.
    Best of luck!!
