I know the timeline is based on other people's timelines, and it seems like it's good to adjust periodically. Mine has moved the date around every couple weeks when I've checked. (Seems like they're processing faster recently!) But just a good reminder to keep our timelines updated for those after us ☺️

I agree! I've been checking every now and then, and mine has moved up and back by a week or two.

Heyyy!!! No pressure!! We made it!! I just got back from South Africa on Monday from visiting my honey. We meet again in Dubai in about 7 weeks. I can't wait. Wishing you and your love all the best!

Awesome!! Glad you were able to visit SA! Things are going well, during this waiting process. My fiancé is currently here in the States, visiting. I’m hoping to make it over the pond soon to visit his family.

I'm so excited to finally be on this thread! I've been a long time stalker and finally get to participate!

We're still assembling our packet and will (hopefully) be mailing on January 24!!!

I never realized the amount of work that goes into assembling one of these packets and have tremendous amounts of respect for everyone who has ever filed one!

I can't wait to start talking to everyone here, from previous threads I've read through it seems like everyone is super helpful and experienced so I'm very happy I'm finally joining the community!

P.S. - I've began my timeline, but it's pretty sparse as of right now because we haven't mailed yet, but look forward to updating it as our journey begins!

I'm right with you! I mailed my packet this month on the 27th (Jan.). I can't wait!! My fiancé is coming from the UK, also.

There is nothing in any K1 visa sites, guides, or references that says you have to have an actual wedding date. All the government requires you to do is get married with 90 days of entering on the K1 visa. Wedding plans are helpful but is not a requirement to be approved. And this is where people get caught up in. A CO may ask you when and where you may get married but they do not require you to have actual venure reservations or deposits or anything like that.

Hard planning (reservations, etc) should not be made until the visa is physically in your hands. A lot of people think this is too little time to plan a wedding. Well the visa is valid for 6 months of issuance or the medical. And you have 90 days to get married after entering the US with the visa. So that gives you essentially a little less than 270 days to plan a wedding.

Anther option is to have a small courthouse wedding after entering the K1, file for and complete the AOS afterwards, and then having the big extravagasa wedding at a following date of your liking. This option totally puts the control of the timing back into your hands.

Thank you! Yes, I'm one of the many that were concerned about the 90 day part. Your explanation helped me out. We were thinking we had to conform our planning towards the guidelines of the visa. I was unaware of the visa validity being 6 months.

    Hi,

My fiancé and I have just started the K1 process. We have filled out the I-29f and I have a question about the evidence we have met in person. We have been together for almost four years and have many flights that have been booked in that time period, as well as evidence of working at the same summer camp in the US where we met.

I don’t have any of my tickets from my flights (whoops) but I do have the confirmations and passport stamps, as does my fiancé. Should we submit all ticket information, as well passport stamps? What about photos? Or is it very baseline, as long as you’ve met within 2 years everything is good to go?

    Thank you

    Hey,

I just started my process, also. We didn't have any boarding passes. We met in the US, so we decided to use our pictures. We started wedding planning last year, but decided to postpone for this reason, so I added our previous planning info.

    1. The government shutdown doesn't affect USCIS. They are paid through filing fees.

    2. Why would you set a wedding date with a K1? It's ok to have an idea but be realistic. Wait until you have your NOA2 before you plan anything and even then it's uncertain. If the date is that important to you, withdrawal it and get married in Australia then file for a spousal. Unfortunately, us K1 filers don't get the luxury of being picky about weddings.

Thank you! Your post eased some of my worries. I just sent my packet off, and I was worried about the shutdown. I'm the petitioner and my fiancé and I were looking towards a small to medium size wedding in September. I wanted to be realistic but not overdoing it.
