  1. Thanks everyone!!! We got there at 11am. His appointment was for 12:30 & the letter said be 30 minutes early. We waited in the car til 12, then went to the door where security was. He had to take off his watch, belt & everything out of his pockets. He went to drop off his letter at the window and we waited from 12:15-12:45 when they called his name.

He said the officer started with swearing him in, then the 6 out of 10 test questions, then went over personal questions. He was asked when was our anniversary, where does he work and live & where he worked in Ga. The officer wanted to keep the originals which was our marriage certificate & birth certificate but Adam told him we needed them back. (I know the interview letter said to bring originals of everything you sent a copy of) so I don't know why the officer acted like he needed the originals but he made another copy of them instead. He asked about the past 3 years in taxes bcz we pay around $300 to the IRS each year and he wanted a copy of those receipts. Adam told him that isn't what the interview letter asked us to bring so we didn't but that I could get them if he needed them, so he said its ok and you are approved & stamped his N400 with the red approval stamp. Then he had Adam sign off on the name change sheet but the officer made a mistake and added his old middle name & Adam told him he doesn't want a middle name so the paper got redone and Adam got to sign it with his new name.

He was told not to wait in the waiting area like others were doing bcz he would get a letter in the mail for his oath ceremony in the city closer to us. Houston is about 40 miles away and so is Beaumont. He said we live near Beaumont so he will have his oath ceremony there.

  2. We got to Houston at 11am which was 1 1/2 earlier than his interview time. So we chilled out & chatted in the car til 1145. Got to the door and there was a line for the security. Got through that and waited til 1245 when they called his name. I think it took about 20 minutes or so from start to finish. He got sworn in then the man started with the 6 questions, read & write a sentence. The guy wanted to keep our originals (which was my birth certificate & marriage cert but hubby told him those were needed back so the guy went to make copies of them) Im sure though it says in the letter to bring originals with you and had I known they wanted another copy I would have just made copies of those at home myself. Anyways everything was easy & smooth Adam said. The man asked Adam where is the receipts for where we pay taxes each year & he told him that the interview letter didn't say to bring receipts of taxes so we didn't and that I could get them if needed. Adam said the man told him he was approved and that he didn't have to wait in the waiting room like everyone else bcz he would be scheduled for his ceremony in Beaumont since we live in Dayton. Everyone else that waited was getting scheduled for July 31st ceremony in Houston.

Also, on the final paperwork & for the name change... the guy started writing out the name my hubby wants but added his old middle name. Hubby didn't put a middle name on the N400 name change sheet so he asked the man not to put a middle name on the paperwork. The man redid the name change paper and got him to sign it with his new name.

  3. Hubby is approved! Awaiting a letter in the mail with time & date of ceremony in Beaumont. He got to sign the last paperwork with his name change! :D

    Questions were:

What state borders Canada? What is freedom of religion? How many Senators are there? When was Constitution written? And forgot the other two. Had to read : what do we have to pay to the government? Had to write: we pay taxes.

  4. Thanks Rocks & Frali !

Haha - Rocks! I just had my interview and was asked the same set of questions in the same order. I think they ask the Brits the same question ending with why the colonist fought the Brits.... :innocent:

Taking my oath ceremony in 3 hours. Almost done with visa journey.

Wow! Yesterday was your interview & today is your ceremony! Thats super fast! I wonder how it will be for my hubby bcz he's asked for a name change!?

  5. To all studious VJs: Please let me know the Dress Code for the Naturalization Interview. Are we required to wear a suit?

How much time before we need to be at USCIS building for the Interview. How many hours the Interview is going to be? So that I can get well prepared....

    :help:

My hubby doesn't even own a suit... he owns nike & american eagle ... :)

  6. PalmTreeGurl, can you confirm that both your hubby's biometrics and his interview are in Houston? My wife had her biometrics in Houston (much closer to us) but then her interview is in San Antonio (WAY far away) for some reason. We can't figure out why they did this.

Yes both in Houston but different places... his biometrics was south 45 and his interview will be at the office north of that. Can you call and ask about that bcz thats weird!! Who drives 5 hours away when our office is about 1 hour!?

  7. Oh Im so excited for those of you that just had your interviews! A couple of you peeps have interviews tomorrow so best wishes and keep us posted! My hubbys interview is on Thursday so we are excited about that... and we start on our 9 day off work vacation then, plus our 6yr anniversary is Sunday. We're going to celebrate in Galveston for a couple of those days! yay!
