  3. Hello everyone, good morning, I recently contacted my congressman to know the status of my I-485 hence my I-360 was approved since April 2019 and I have been waiting to be contacted for my interview, my congressman just updated me yesterday that my case is pending Security Check, they stated they don’t have a particular timeline as to how long it normally takes for them to get the report, please I would like to know if anyone has an idea on how long it normally takes and is there any possible way to contact USCIS to push them on this? Your response will be highly appreciated.

    Hi All,

I've been a silent reader since September of 2018. My Vawa journey is below.

    • I got married to a USC in 2014

    • Spouse filed I130 in Jan2017

    • Work permit May2017

    • Spouse canceled I130 August 2017

    • Interview for I130 September 2017 I showed up with my pro bono lawyer to interview without my spouse. We filed the I360 4 days before the interview. We ask the IO to hold the I485 through my spouse but they cancelled it November2017.

    • I filed my new I485/I765 C09 December 2017

    • Received first Ead C09 in March2018

    • Filed for second Ead December2018

    • Vawa Approved in March2019

    • Received deferred Action notice, Approval notice, EAD C31 in March2018.

    • Received Courtesy letter April2019

    • Received another EAD C09 in June 2019

    • My attorney received my interview letter on Feb 10, 2020.

    • Did my medical on Feb 14, 2020

    • Interview on Feb 24, 2020

    • "New Card being produced" approximately 45 mins after interview.

    • Case approved Feb 25

Everyone please continue to pray and receive y'all blessings. God didn't take us this far to leave us. I'm happy my journey is over. My interview was pretty simple even though I was still depressed because my husband has put me through a lot and I'm still going through it. We are still married. IO asked the yes and no questions on the I485 asked for my passport, ID and EAD. She asked for my marital status, job, where I lived and where I wanted my decision to be mailed. She gave me a letter that stated my case was recommended for approval. She asked if I had more questions I said no. She said I would get a decision in the mail but hinted she will make the decisionthe same day. But I kept checking the online case status and there it was, Gods blessing.

Congratulations to you, please may I know your state please? I filled a my I-360 before you and I actually got approved in April 2019 so that’s a monthly after yours was approved, I’m yet to get my courtesy letter till date and haven’t gotten any more update yet as well, I only figured my case was transferred to local office in April 2019, I’m just checking to know if the delay is from Texas..

    Good morning Community!
    How are you all doing?
I have a quick question to you all!
I am planning on moving to Houston, TX in 3 weeks due to a job offer.
Currently I live in California and local authorities issued me a DL (Real ID) for 5 years based on my current status (pending I485, I360 and EAD which I extend year by year).
So, I assume that TX is more strict and just checking if any of you live in TX and for how long you get a DL (Real ID) in TX being in our status? Only 1 year based on the expiration date of your EAD ?
Cause this is what I had living in Florida...only exactly till the exp date of EAD.
Anyways, would I be able to keep my California ID and still get a local DL or just ID in TX even for 1 year and then keep prolonging it. Will need it for proof of address purposes with banks and USCIS. How to do so ? Because I want to have this 5 years CA Real ID, it is great!
Any ideas and thoughts are welcome! Thank you :)

Texas gives you 1 year drivers license and you will have to renew it every year until you get your GC..

  6. Hello @sandanj

I got my c31 EAD on May 6 2019 and on a different letter that was sent to me few weeks later, they indicated that my vawa was approved on the 22nd of April 2019 and they can’t issue me a new ead because I was previously sent one as stated, this is because after I submitted my Vawa application in August 2017 I later applied for travel parole and a new ead in January 2018 which was never approved until I received the c31 ead on May 6 2019. Ever since I got that later I haven’t received the official approval letter and it’s 5 months already, I live in Dallas area and I would really want to know if it seems normal, I was thinking of contacting the congressman but I decided to consult our VJ family before I can proceed, please I will really appreciate your advice on this issue. Thanks for being there for us.

Any male victims here who has approved vawa??  I should not have read internet articles. It says that mens has less chances of getting approval as compared to women 😞 no matter how strong your case is

Yes I’m male from Texas and I got approved in April, as long as you have strong evidence about your case, you’ll definitely be approved. Stay positive bro.

  8. @gogetter18 Thank you so much for your response. My lawyer didn’t even mention anything about renewing the prima facie, I guess he doesn’t know it can be renewed, please do you know how long it takes to be renewed? And for the EAD, he filed it under C31 category and I was trying to explain to him that I read on this forum that vawa applicants can get their EAD before the application is approved under C9 Category, he said I’m not qualified for that, this is why I needed to consult this forum so I can have better clue on what to do. I’m really tired of waiting and now it’s worst that I can’t even drive or get a better job, please kindly advice me on what you think might be best for this situation. Thank you

  9. Please I need advice on how I can renew my my drivers license, I filled my I360 vawa application in August 2017 and my receipt date is 15th August 2017, I got my prima facie immediately and ever since it has been renewed automatically twice, my last prima facie expired September 2018, I was able to renew my drivers license with the prima facie January last year in Dallas Texas, but my problem right now is that my prima facie was renewed automatically anymore, Is it possible for me to renew it by contacting the USCIS? I filed my I-131, I-485 and I-765 in January 2018 and I only received the receipt for those applications, up till now nothing has changed and I don’t know what to do, please I need advice as regards this, I think my lawyer isn’t properly informed about how all these works, I need to know what to tell him. Please your advice will really be helpful to me at this time so I can renew my drivers license.
