  1. https://www.uscis.gov/humanitarian/humanitarianpublicbenefitparoleindividualsoutsideUS Scroll down is a re-parole section. The problem is, normally this is for parole issued by USCIS. In this case of those stuck in this gap, CBP issued it. Maybe between the letter posted above and my call with CBP saying “all Ukrainians are referring to USCIS”, maybe provisions are being made for USCIS to handle reparole. That letter makes is sound like “we are aware of the problem, working in solution, and will let you know” I hope….
  2. But those people are all getting 2 years of parole right? For .gov that’s next years problem😂. And from what I see about TPS, extension wil happen for those on it. It’s just a gap of people admitted between 4/11 and 4/25 who are stuck.
  3. I have found guidance where you just file a standard HP package (131 & 134) and mark your folder re-parole. I haven’t been in this thread, and I guess I specifically posted here wondering about the U4U option. Has people been approved after coming here on U4U but leaving? (So they can come back)
  4. Thanks for posting that letter. So it appears apply for reparole through DHS, which would be USCIS? File form 131 and 134 and pay the man. Still no guarantee. It would be so simple to extend TPS to close the gap. Can’t do the simple way though it seems.
  5. My wife just told me she read on instagram someone in a similar situation left and U4U was denied. I guess because they had parole and abandoned it? My wife just got her 10 year a few months ago, so she can’t apply for naturalization till next fall, so that path is out. Plus not looking for a permanent way to stay, that’s why asylum doesn’t seem like a great option (also for the fact it would probably be denied like you said) What a bureaucratic disaster 🤦🏻‍♂️
  6. My estimate from numbers is probably 15k are in this situation, given port parole after the TPS date of 4/11, but before they stopped the process and changed it to U4U. I am not familiar with U4U at all. How long are approvals taking? Edit: my wife just said she read on Instagram someone did this then didn’t get approved U4U cause they had parole and left
  7. My MIL was given 1 year humanitarian parole at the Mexico border on 4/18/22. It is running out, and CBP is supposed to handle reparole since they issued originally, but they received guidance to refer all Ukrainian reparole to USCIS. TPS isn't an option as the deadline for that is 4/11/22 (presence in US). Can MIL apply for U4U? She would have to leave the US and come back though right? Or could she maybe take the documents to a Port of Entry or Deferred Inspection Site (here in Ohio) to get stamped?
  8. Hey all, here is the situation. My MIL from Ukraine was admitted over the Mexico border on 1-year humanitarian parole on 4/18/22. The was given via CBP, what is known as Port Parole. I called the local CBP in late fall and they said they would handle reparole, to call back about 90 days out. I called back this week and they said they just received guidance to refer all Ukrainian reparoles to USCIS. The problem is, I'm not sure what program would work. She is wanting to only be here till the war is over, not get on a path to residency. Options: Temporary Protected Status - This would be the easiest, but it's for Ukrainians who have been in the US since 4/11/22. She missed that by 1 week. United for Ukraine - They specifically say this is for Ukrainians outside the US. I do know someone who was here on a tourist visa (6 month stay). They took a few days trip to Mexico, got U4U approved, then came back (2 year humanitarian parole). I-131 - Apply for Humanitarian Parole with USCIS, although has long lead times and cost $$$ Apply for asylum - just to get her legal presence while adjudicated. Wouldn't actually want to complete the process ????? CBP is squared away every time I have dealt with them, but USCIS is a bureaucratic nightmare. I tried calling to speak with someone but can't get past the auto prompts. I haven't had any luck getting consultation with local lawyers either, booked a month out.

  10. I found this article from April of 2022 https://www.uscis.gov/newsroom/news-releases/uscis-implements-risk-based-approach-for-conditional-permanent-resident-interviews Looks like we fell into that and I'm assuming, unfortunately, for you that since you sent in 02/2022 that you fell outside this process. Permanent Residence card was received in the mail today.

  13. We filed 8/14 for my wife’s RoC. A few days ago got waiver of biometrics letter, which was a nice surprise. Today we got approval letter on RoC! No interview, new card in the mail within 60 days. 22 business days from receiving to approval. We are shocked…was planning on year+ wait.
