Biometrics is required for the GC and EAD. The biometrics notice usually comes as one paper with two barcodes, one for GC and one for EAD. Some people receive two separate notices, each with the respective barcode so that may happen to you.

I filed April 16 and received the notice on May 3 (scheduled for May 17 in Nashville). There's an ongoing delay with biometrics for those who filed May and after. I'm sure yours is on its way, just taking longer than before.

That is handy to know! Just really wanna get my feet on the ground with work and so I'm getting antsy about this for sure!

  2. Hey everyone,

I hope someone can help give me some info and advice based on your experiences! It has been almost 2 months and I still have no received my biometrics appointment since filing for AOS and EAD on K1. My friend went through this process end of last year and said that was the quickest part of his whole process! I submitted a service request with a USCIS representative and within a few days has a response from the Nashville office to say the application was still processing and an appointment would be sent out if it was required.

I am just concerned that with the delay in this it will have a knock on effect also with my EAD? I can't seem to find any definitive information that suggests I need the biometrics in order for them to issue that or whether it is JUST for my GC. Does anyone know the situation with that?

In addition, is anyone else processing through Nashville and had such a long wait as it stands? Im sure it's all fine but I can't help but worry a little!

Thanks in advance for your replies!

  3. Hey everyone!

So we have our approval and i will be flying out on May 10. We will be getting married on May 15.

I have a few questions regarding the best steps to take when I get there! I keep reading to wait 2 week before going to get SSN? However I thought all you needed was a valid i-94 and as it’s electronic it’s usually updated within a day or so? A friend of mine just moved to LA on a work visa and he got his the day after he moved so is there any reason we would not be able to do that just because it’s a K1 visa I have entered on?

Secondly, I’ve seen mixed comments about people having issues getting their SSN after marriage? Some have been fine others not, has anyone done this recently in the state of TN? What have your experiences been?

Also do I need the SSN to go to the DMV and apply for a license. Similarly does anyone have any recent experience with this who could just give me a few pointers!?

    Thank you!!

Thank you so much! That would be really helpful! I was just about to go searching for a number to call also, but I’ll hangfire for now. Appreciate it 😁

OK! So I hope this helps! I initially went into the appointment schedule system to make sure I was able to schedule an appointment as I had heard from some that if your case is not ready it would not allow you to schedule it yet. It showed the first available appointment as this Wednesday but obviously I have to have my medical first.

I was on hold on the phone to the medical people for about 10 mins so not too long at all, just got my appointment with them booked up for this Wednesday. They were very accommodating with when I wanted to book it up and all I needed was my NVC case number, my name, date of birth, phone and email. I now have an email from them documenting ALL the details and everything I need to bring.

On getting that booked I went back to the appointment system and have an appointment now for Feb 25. Again it was easy to do, the system allowed me to go in though I gave myself a little extra time between medical and interview just to make sure they would have all my info!

It really does seem quite confusing on when you are actually able to book all of this up but I have now gone by the recommendations on here and just done it! They have all my case numbers and I also signed up for text alerts in case of any issues so I am hoping that this will be it.... It is booked and the last steps are in sight! I would go ahead and get everything booked up today if you can!

Good luck! Let me know how you get on! :D

I am calling up the medical place now to get that booked up! Have done a little search on the appointment situation this morning too. My CEAC status is saying READY.  Full details in a min x

I am also at this point and so confused! I’m going to go read this link but afraid to loose this thread after searching! (I haven’t followed the CEAC tracker intently up until now) So the CEAC, have to my knowledge changed the date twice. Ten days apart. I’m just desperately waiting for the email!! I’m like you.. do I have to wait for this email until I can schedule my medical? And where is this email! I’ve read a lot about the status changing dates means nothing, but also that it has to change three times. So am I having to wait another ten days? This is all so confusing.

Anyway, I am going to also read the link sent but just needed to vent!

I am literally sitting on hold on the phone right now! I will let you know how I go today with regards to getting a bit more clarity on the steps! I will post back and let you know how it all goes! Hope this will help!

This website will be your friend! https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/fiancee-2/applying-for-the-visa/

I was given that website by fellow VJ'ers when i was at your stage for my K1, have a good read, its the official London USA Embassy website :)

thank you! ha i swear i've read that page a million times! only now do i see the part that clearly answers my question after posting here haha

  8. Hey everyone,

So I am sure that I am probably just over thinking this and it is not just making my head explode haha! To many little things to remember!

We just got our email for our NVC case number and the CEAC case says ready. The email says to wait to receive info about an appointment but am I right in thinking that is just a generic email and provided the CEAC case status is saying ready I can go ahead and book my interview up at the embassy?

I am scheduling my medical tomorrow, all other files are in hand! Just getting confused about this having seen so many different things online!

Thank you in advance for your help!

  9. I am having so many issues with my practice at the moment, already paid £20 and they supplied me with something I did not ask for, they just wrote a letter saying they consent to sharing my records with a third party!! As well as that not being the Summary Care Record I explicitly asked for, the sharing of my information is not theirs to consent! II was very clear about the patient summary, going in to ty and get it sorted tomorrow morning but I am not holding out much hope 🤬 I have all the other documents!!

  10. I have had so many issues with my GP regarding gaining access to this. I just got back from a trip to visit my fiance and had requested my summary care record. My mum picked it up and paid the £20 they had quoted me, i opened it... they gave me a 2 sentence letter saying they consent to releasing information through a third party and that i take a contraceptive pill with no other current medical problems! I was very clear in my email that i needed my SCR.

I was also refused the Tdap booster at my GP service because I had mentioned I was applying for a visa, i couldn't be bothered to argue, its a standard booster and whilst i pay my way here I should be entitled! Got it done at Boots instead and the guy who administered it questioned their actions too.

Has anyone else had so many problems with their GP? I feel like I'm fighting an uphill battle just because I mentioned I need info for immigration purposes! I cant book anything until I have these documents and its causing so much more stress than is needed!
